1 Je chanterai maintenant à mon cher bien-aimé un cantique de mon bien-aimé concernant sa vigne. Mon cher bien aimé avait une vigne sur une colline très fertile.

 1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

2 Et il l'entoura et en ôta les pierres, et la planta des meilleurs ceps, et il bâtit une tour au milieu d'elle, et y creusa un pressoir ; et il s'attendait à ce qu'elle produirait des raisins, mais elle a produit des grappes sauvages.

 2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

3 Et maintenant, ô habitants de Jérusalem et hommes de Judah, jugez, je vous prie, entre moi et ma vigne.

 3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

4 Qu'y avait-il encore à faire à ma vigne, que je n'aie pas fait pour elle ? Pourquoi, quand j'attendais qu'elle produirait des raisins, a-t-elle produit des raisins sauvages ?

 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

5 Et maintenant je vais vous dire ce que je vais faire à ma vigne j'ôterai sa haie et elle sera broutée ; et j'abattrai sa clôture, et elle sera piétinée.

 5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

6 Et je la réduirai en friche ; elle ne sera plus taillée ni bêchée ; mais les ronces et les épines monteront ; je commanderai aussi aux nuages de ne plus faire tomber la pluie sur elle.

 6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

7 Car la vigne du SEIGNEUR des armées est la maison d'Israël, et les hommes de Judah sont le plant sa plante agréable ; il en attendait le juste jugement, et voici l'oppression ; la rectitude, et voici un cri.

 7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

8 ¶ Malheur à ceux qui joignent maison à maison, qui ajoutent un champ à un champ, jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y ait plus d'espace et que vous vous rendiez seuls habitants au milieu de la terre !

 8 ¶ Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

9 À mes oreilles, a dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : En vérité beaucoup de maisons seront dévastées, c'est-à-dire de grandes et belles maisons seront sans habitants.

 9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

10 Oui, dix arpents de vignes ne produiront qu'un bath, et la semence d'un homer produira un épha.

 10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

11 ¶ Malheur à ceux qui se lèvent tôt le matin pour courir après la boisson forte, et qui continuent jusqu'à la nuit, jusqu'à ce que le vin les enflamme !

 11 ¶ Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

12 Et la harpe et le luth, le tambourin, et la flûte et le vin sont dans leurs festins ; mais ils n'ont pas d'égard à l'œuvre du SEIGNEUR, et ne prennent pas en considération l'opération de ses mains.

 12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

13 ¶ C'est pourquoi mon peuple est allé en captivité, parce qu'il n'a pas de connaissance ; et leurs hommes honorables meurent de faim, et leur multitude est asséchée de soif.

 13 ¶ Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

14 C'est pourquoi l'enfer s'est élargi, et a ouvert sa bouche sans mesure et leur gloire et leur multitude et leur pompe et celui qui se réjouit, y descendront.

 14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

15 Et l'homme vil sera abaissé, et l'homme puissant sera humilié, et les yeux du hautain seront humiliés.

 15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

16 Mais le SEIGNEUR des armées sera exalté en jugement, et Dieu qui est saint sera sanctifié en rectitude.

 16 But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

17 Alors les agneaux se nourriront selon leur habitude, et les étrangers mangeront les lieux incultes des hommes gras.

 17 Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

18 Malheur à ceux qui tirent l'iniquité avec des cordes de vanité, et le péché comme avec le cordage d'un chariot ;

 18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

19 Qui disent : Qu'il se hâte, et qu'il accélère son œuvre, afin que nous la voyions ; et que le conseil du Saint d'Israël s'approche, et vienne et nous le connaîtrons ! afin que nous puissions le connaître !

 19 That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

20 ¶ Malheur à ceux qui appellent le mal bien et le bien mal ; qui mettent de l'obscurité à la place de lumière, et de la lumière à la place de l'obscurité ; qui mettent l'amer à la place du doux, et du doux à la place de l'amer !

 20 ¶ Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Malheur à ceux qui sont sages à leurs propres yeux et qui se considèrent prudents !

 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

22 Malheur à ceux qui sont puissants pour boire le vin, et aux hommes vaillants pour mêler la boisson forte.

 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

23 Qui justifient le méchant pour une rétribution, et ôtent aux hommes droits leur rectitude !

 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 C’est pourquoi, comme le feu dévore le chaume, et comme la flamme consume l’herbe sèche, ainsi leur racine tombera en pourriture et leur bourgeon s’en ira comme la poussière ; parce qu’ils ont rejeté la loi du SEIGNEUR des armées, et ont méprisé la parole du Saint d’Israël.

 24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

25 C'est pourquoi le courroux du SEIGNEUR s'est embrasé contre son peuple, et il a étendu la main sur lui, et l'a frappé, et les collines ont tremblé, et leurs cadavres ont été déchirés au milieu des rues. Malgré tout cela, son courroux ne s'est pas détourné, mais sa main est encore tendue.

 25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

26 ¶ Et il élèvera une bannière vers les nations lointaines, et il sifflera chacune d'elles depuis les bouts de la terre ; et voici, chacune viendra promptement et légèrement.

 26 ¶ And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:

27 Nul ne sera fatigué, ni ne chancellera ; nul ne sommeillera ni ne dormira ; nul n'aura la ceinture de ses reins déliée, ni la courroie de ses souliers rompue.

 27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:

28 Leurs flèches sont aiguës ; et tous leurs arcs tendus ; les sabots de leurs chevaux seront comme du silex, et leurs roues comme un tourbillon.

 28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

29 Leur rugissement sera comme celui du lion ; ils rugiront comme les lionceaux ; oui, ils rugiront, et saisiront la proie, il l'emporteront, et il n'y aura personne qui la leur ôte.

 29 Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.

30 En ce jour-là, ils rugiront contre eux comme le rugissement de la mer ; et si on regarde vers le pays, voici, l'obscurité et la douleur, et la lumière est obscurcie dans ses cieux.

 30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
