1 La charge du lieu aride de la mer. Comme les tourbillons passent dans le Sud, ainsi il vient du lieu aride, d'un pays terrible.

 1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

2 Une vision terrible m'est révélée ; le perfide agit perfidement, et le dévastateur dévaste. Monte, ô Elam ; assiégez ô Media (Mèdes) ; J'ai fait cesser tous ses soupirs.

 2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

3 C'est pourquoi mes reins sont remplis de douleur ; des angoisses m'ont saisi, comme les angoisses de la femme qui est en travail ; j'en étais courbé de ce que j'ai entendu, j'étais éperdu de ce que j'ai vu.

 3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

4 Mon cœur palpitait, la terreur m'a épouvanté ; il m'a changé la nuit de mon plaisir en terreur.

 4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

5 Dresse la table, surveille la tour de guet, mange, boit. Levez-vous, princes, et oignez le bouclier.

 5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.

6 Car ainsi m'a dit le Seigneur : Va, place une sentinelle, qu'elle déclare ce qu'elle voit.

 6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

7 Et elle vit un chariot avec une paire de cavaliers, un chariot tiré par des ânes, et un chariot tiré par des chameaux ; et elle écouta diligemment, avec grande attention.

 7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

8 Et elle cria : C'est un lion, Mon Seigneur, je me tiens sur la tour de guet continuellement de jour, et je fais ma garde les nuits entières ;

 8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:

9 Et voici venir le chariot d'hommes, avec une paire de cavaliers. Et il répondit, et dit : Babylone est tombée, elleest tombée ; et il a brisé par terre toutes les images taillées de ses dieux.

 9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

10 Ô mon battage, et le grain de mon aire ; ce que j'ai entendu du SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, je vous l'ai déclaré.

 10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

11 ¶ La charge de Dumah. Il m'appelle de Seir : Sentinelle, qu'en est-il de la nuit ? Sentinelle, qu'en est-il de la nuit ?

 11 ¶ The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

12 La sentinelle dit : Le matin vient, et la nuit aussi ; si vous voulez interroger, interrogez ; retournez, venez.

 12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

13 ¶ La charge contre l'Arabie. Vous logerez dans la forêt d'Arabie, ô vous, troupes voyageant de Dedanim.

 13 ¶ The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

14 Les habitants du pays de Tema ont apporté de l'eau à celui qui avait soif, ils sont venus avec leur pain au-devant de celui qui fuyait.

 14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

15 Car ils s'enfuyaient devant les épées, devant l'épée dégainée, et devant l'arc tendu, et devant la gravité de la guerre.

 15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

16 Car ainsi m'a dit le Seigneur : D'ici un an selon les années d'un salarié, et toute la gloire de Kedar prendra fin ;

 16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

17 Et le résidu du nombre des archers, les puissants hommes des enfants de Kedar, sera diminué ; car le SEIGNEUR Dieu d'Israël, l'a dit.

 17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.
