1 En ce temps-là, Merodachbaladan (Mérodac-Baladan) , le fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya des lettres et un présent à Hezekiah (Ezéchias), parce qu'il avait appris qu'il avait été malade et qu'il était rétabli.

1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
|
2 Et Hezekiah (Ezéchias) en fut joyeux, et il leur montra la maison de ses choses précieuses, l'argent, l'or, et les aromates, et le baume précieux, tout son arsenal et tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses trésors. Il n'y eut rien qu'Hezekiah (Ezéchias) ne leur montrât dans sa maison et dans tout son domaine.

2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

3 ¶ Puis le prophète Isaiah (Ésaïe) vint vers le roi Hezekiah (Ezéchias), et lui dit : Qu'ont dit ces gens-là, et d'où sont-ils venus vers toi ? Et Hezekiah (Ezéchias) dit : Ils sont venus vers moi d'un pays éloigné, c'est-à-dire de Babylone.

3 ¶ Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

4 Alors il Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit : Qu'ont-ils vu dans ta maison ? Et Hezekiah (Ezéchias) répondit : Ils ont vu tout ce qui est dans ma maison ; il n'y a rien dans mes trésors que je ne leur aie montré.

4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

5 Alors Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit à Hezekiah (Ezéchias) : Entends la parole du SEIGNEUR des armées

5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:
|
6 Voici, les jours viennent où tout ce qui est dans ta maison, et ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu'à ce jour, sera emporté à Babylone ; rien ne restera, dit le SEIGNEUR.

6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
|
7 Et on prendra de tes fils, qui seront issus de toi, que tu auras engendrés, et ils seront eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone.

7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

8 Alors Hezekiah (Ezéchias) dit à Isaiah (Ésaïe) : La parole du SEIGNEUR que tu as prononcée est bonne ; et il ajouta : Car il y aura paix et vérité pendant mes jours.

8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
