1 Consolez, consolez mon peuple, dit votre Dieu.

 1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

2 Parlez avec réconfort à Jérusalem, et criez-lui que son temps de guerre est accompli, que son iniquité est pardonnée ; car elle a reçu, de la main du SEIGNEUR le double pour tous ses péchés.

 2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.

3 ¶ La voix de celui qui crie dans le désert Préparez le chemin du SEIGNEUR, rendez droite dans le lieu aride une route pour notre Dieu.

 3 ¶ The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

4 Toute vallée sera élevée, et toute montagne et toute colline seront abaissées ; et les lieux tortueux seront rendus droits, et les lieux raboteux plats.

 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

5 Et la gloire du SEIGNEUR sera révélée, et toute chair ensemble la verra ; car la bouche du SEIGNEUR a parlé.

 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

6 La voix dit : Crie. Et il dit : Que crierai-je ? Toute chair est comme l'herbe, et toute sa beauté est comme la fleur des champs.

 6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

7 L'herbe se dessèche, la fleur se fane, parce que l'esprit du SEIGNEUR souffle dessus vraiment le peuple est comme l'herbe.

 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

8 L'herbe se dessèche, la fleur se fane, mais la parole de notre Dieu demeurera pour toujours.

 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

9 ¶ Ô Zion, qui apporte de bonnes nouvelles, monte sur la haute montagne ; ô Jérusalem, qui apporte de bonnes nouvelles, élève ta voix avec puissance¸ élève-la, n'aie pas peur ; dis aux villes de Judah : Voici votre Dieu !

 9 ¶ O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

10 Voici, le Seigneur DIEU viendra avec une forte main ; et son bras dominera sur lui ; voici, sa rétribution est avec lui, et son ouvrage devant lui.

 10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

11 Il nourrira son troupeau comme un berger ; il rassemblera les agneaux de son bras, et les portera dans son sein, et conduira doucement celles qui allaitent.

 11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

12 ¶ Qui a mesuré les eaux avec le creux de sa main, et qui a compassé le ciel avec la paume et qui a compris la capacité de la poussière de la terre, et qui a pesé les montagnes au peson, et les collines dans une balance ?

 12 ¶ Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

13 Qui a dirigé l'Esprit du SEIGNEUR, ou qui étant son conseiller l'a enseigné ?

 13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

14 Avec qui a-t-il pris conseil, et qui l'a instruit, et lui a enseigné le sentier du jugement, et lui a enseigné la connaissance, et lui a montré le chemin de l'intelligence ?

 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

15 Voici, les nations sont comme une goutte d'un seau, et sont considérées comme la menue poussière d'une balance ; voici, il soulève les îles comme un rien.

 15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 Et le Liban n'est pas suffisant pour le feu, et ses bêtes ne suffisent pas pour l'offrande consumée.

 16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 Toutes les nations sont devant lui comme un rien ; et il les tient pour moins que rien, et que pour vanité.

 17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

18 ¶ À qui donc ferez-vous ressembler Dieu ? ou à quelle ressemblance le comparerez-vous ?

 18 ¶ To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

19 L'ouvrier fond une image taillée, et l'orfèvre la recouvre d'or, et lui fait des chaînettes d'argent.

 19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

20 Celui qui est si pauvre qu'il ne peut faire une oblation, choisit un arbre qui ne pourrisse pas ; il cherche un ouvrier habile pour entreprendre une image taillée qui ne peut se mouvoir.

 20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

21 Ne savez-vous pas ? N'avez-vous pas entendu ? Ne vous a-t-il pas été déclaré depuis le commencement ? N'avez-vous pas compris depuis les fondements de la terre ?

 21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 C'est lui qui est assis sur le cercle de la terre, et ses habitants sont comme des sauterelles, qui étend les cieux comme un rideau, et les déploie comme une tente pour y demeurer ;

 22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 Qui réduit les princes à rien, il fait les juges de la terre que vanité.

 23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Oui, ils ne seront pas plantés ; oui, ils ne seront pas semés, oui, leur tronc ne prendra pas racine dans la terre et même il soufflera sur eux, et ils se dessècheront ; et un tourbillon les emportera comme du chaume.

 24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

25 À qui donc me feriez-vous ressembler ? ou à qui serai-je égalé ? dit le Saint ?

 25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Levez vos yeux en haut, et contemplez qui a créé ces choses, C'est lui qui fait sortir par nombre leur armée, il les appelle toutes par leur nom, par la grandeur de son pouvoir, aucune ne manque, car il excelle en puissance.

 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

27 Pourquoi dis-tu, ô Jacob, et parles-tu, ô Israël : Mon chemin est caché au SEIGNEUR, et ma sentence a passé inaperçue de mon Dieu ?

 27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 ¶ Ne sais-tu pas ? N'as-tu pas entendu, que le Dieu d'éternité, le SEIGNEUR, le Créateur des bouts de la terre, ne défaille pas, ni ne se fatigue ? il n'y a pas moyen de sonder son intelligence.

 28 ¶ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 Il donne puissance au défaillant ; et à ceux qui n'ont pas de vigueur il accroît leur force.

 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Même les adolescents seront défaillants et se fatigueront, et les jeunes hommes tomberont complètement.

 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 Mais ceux qui attendent le SEIGNEUR renouvelleront leur force ; ils s'élèveront à tire-d'aile, comme les aigles, ils courront, et ne se fatigueront pas ; et ils marcheront, et ne défailliront pas.

 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
