1 Gardez le silence devant moi, ô îles ; et que les peuples renouvellent leur force ; qu'ils s'approchent, puis qu' ils parlent ; approchons ensemble en jugement.

 1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2 Qui de l'Est, a suscité l'homme droit, l'a appelé à sa suite, et livra les nations devant lui, et l'a fait dgouverner sur les rois ? il les a livrés à son épée comme de la poussière, et à son arc comme du chaume qui vole.

 2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

3 Il les a poursuivis, et est passé en toute sécurité ; et même par le chemin où il n'était pas allé de ses pieds.

 3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

4 Qui a ptocédé et fait cela, appelant les générations depuis le commencement ? moi le SEIGNEUR, le premier et avec les derniers ; je suis celui.

 4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

5 Les îles l'ont vu, et ont eu peur ; les bouts de la terre ont été effrayés, ils se sont approchés, et sont venus.

 5 The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6 Ils s’aidèrent l’un l’autre, et chacun dit à son frère : Sois plein de courage.

 6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

7 7 Ainsi le menuisier a encouragé l’orfèvre, et celui qui polit au marteau a encouragé celui qui frappe l’enclume, disant : Cela est prêt pour la soudure et il l’attache avec des clous, afin qu’il ne bouge pas.

 7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

8 Mais toi, Israël, tu es mon serviteur, Jacob, que j'ai choisi ; la semence d'Abraham mon ami.

 8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9 Toi que j'ai pris des bouts de la terre, et je t'ai appelé parmi ses hommes les plus considérables, et je t'ai dit : Tu es mon serviteur ; je t'ai choisi, et je ne t'ai pas rejeté.

 9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10 ¶ N’aie pas peur, car je suis avec toi ; ne sois pas éperdu, car je suis ton Dieu je te fortifierai ; oui, je t’aiderai ; oui, je te soutiendrai par la main droite de ma rectitude. 'aie pas peur, car je suis avec toi ; ne sois pas éperdu, car je suis ton Dieu je te fortifierai ; oui, je t'aiderai ; oui, je te soutiendrai par la main droite de ma rectitude.

 10 ¶ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 Voici, tous ceux qui se sont irrités contre toi, seront honteux et dans la confusion ils seront comme rien et ceux qui se battent contre toi périront.

 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

12 Tu les chercheras, et tu ne les trouveras plus, même ceux qui contestaient avec toi ; ceux qui te font la guerre, seront comme rien et comme une chose futile.

 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 Car moi, le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, je tiendrai ta main droite, en te disant : N'aie pas peur, je t'aiderai.

 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 N’aie pas peur, toi vermisseau de Jacob, et vous hommes d’Israël : Je t’aiderai, dit le SEIGNEUR, et ton rédempteur, le Saint d’Israël.

 14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 Voici, je ferai de toi un instrument à battre, tranchant, neuf, ayant des dents ; tu battras les montagnes, tu les broieras, et tu rendras les collines semblables à de la balle.

 15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16 Tu les vanneras, et le vent les emportera, le tourbillon les dispersera ; et tu te réjouiras dans le SEIGNEUR, et tu te glorifieras dans le Saint d'Israël.

 16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 Lorsque les pauvres et les nécessiteux chercheront de l'eau et qu’il n’y en pas, et que leur langue est desséchée par la soif, moi, le SEIGNEUR, je les entendrai ; moi, le Dieu d’Israël, je ne les abandonnerai pas.

 17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18 J'ouvrirai des fleuves sur les hauteurs, et des fontaines au milieu des vallées. Je changerai le désert en étang d'eau, et la terre desséchée en sources d'eau ;

 18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 Je planterai dans le désert le cèdre, l'acacia, et le myrte et l'olivier ; je placerai dans le lieu aride le cyprès, et le pin et le buis ensemble ;

 19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

20 Afin qu'ils puissent voir, et sachent, et considèrent et comprenne tous ensemble, que la main du SEIGNEUR a fait cela, que le Saint d'Israël l’a créé.

 20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21 Produisez votre cause, dit le SEIGNEUR ; mettez en avant vos fermes raisons, dit le Roi de Jacob.

 21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

22 Qu'ils les amènent, et qu'ils nous montrent ce qui arrivera ; qu'ils montrent les choses précédentes , quelles sont-elles, afin que nous puissions les condidérer, et connaître leur fin ; ou dites-nous les choses à venir.

 22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23 Montrez les choses qui doivent arriver ensuite, afin que nous puissions savoir que vous êtes des dieux ; oui, faites du bien, ou faites du mal, afin que nous soyons étonnés, et que nous le voyions ensemble.

 23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

24 Voici, vous êtes moins que rien, et votre œuvre est futile ; celui qui vous choisit est une abomination.

 24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

25 J’en ai suscité un du Nord, et il viendra ; du soleil levant il invoquera mon nom ; et il viendra sur les princes comme sur le mortier, et comme le potier piétine l’argile

 25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26 Qui l'a déclaré depuis le commencement, afin que nous puissions le savoir ? et d'avance que nous puissions dire : Il est droit ? oui, il n'y a personne qui le montre, oui, il n'y a personne qui le déclare, oui, il n'y a personne qui entende vos paroles.

 26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

27 Le premier dira à Zion (Sion) : Voici, les voici ; et je donnerai à Jérusalem un qui apporte de bonnes nouvelles.

 27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28 Car j’ai regardé, et il n’y avait personne, même parmi eux, et il n’y avait aucun conseiller, qui, lorsque je les ai interrogés, pouvait répondre une une une parole.

 28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 Voici, ils sont tous vanité ; leurs œuvres sont rien, leurs images fondues sont vent et confusion.

 29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
