1 Mais maintenant entend, ô Jacob, mon serviteur, ô Israël que j'ai choisi

 1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

2 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, qui t'a fait, et t’a formé dès l’utérus, qui t'aidera : N'aie pas peur, ô Jacob, mon serviteur ; et Jesurum (Jéshurun), que j'ai choisi.

 2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

3 Car je répandrai de l'eau sur celui qui a soif, et des ruisseaux sur le sol sec ; je répandrai mon esprit sur ta semence, et ma bénédiction sur ta progéniture.

 3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

4 Et ils germeront comme au milieu de l'herbe, comme les saules près des cours d'eau.

 4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

5 L'un dira : Je suis au SEIGNEUR, et un autre s'appellera du nom de Jacob, et un autre signera avec sa main , je suis au SEIGNEUR, et se surnommera du nom d'Israël.

 5 One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

6 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Roi d'Israël et son rédempteur, le SEIGNEUR des armées : Je suiis le premier et je suis le dernier, et hormis moi il n'y a pas de Dieu.

 6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

7 Et qui, comme moi, appellera, et le déclarera et le mettra en ordre pour moi, depuis que j'ai établi le peuple ancien ? et les choses à venir, et elles viendront, qu'ils les leur montrent.

 7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

8 N'ayez pas peur et ne craignez pas, ne t'ai-je pas raconté depuis ce temps-là, et ne te l'ai-je pas déclaré ? Vous-mêmes êtes mes témoins. Y a-t-il un Dieu hormis moi ? Oui, i pas de Dieu ; je n'en connais aucun.

 8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

9 ¶ Ceux qui font une image taillée ne sont tous que vanité ; et leurs choses désirables ne seront d'aucun profit et elles sont leurs propres témoins ; elles ne voient pas et ne connaissent pas ; afin qu'ils soient honteux.

 9 ¶ They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

10 Qui a formé un dieu, ou fondu une image taillée, qui n'est d'aucun profit ?

 10 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

11 Voici, tous ses compagnons seront honteux ; et les ouvriers, ils sont des hommes ; qu'ils s'assemblent tous, et qu'ils se tiennent debout ; cependant Ils auront tous peur, et ils seront honteux tous ensemble.

 11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

12 Le forgeron avec les pinces travaille avec le charbon et il le façonne avec des marteaux, et il le travaille avec la vigueur de ses bras ; oui, il a faim et sa vigueur lui manque ; il ne boit pas d'eau, et il défaille.

 12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

13 Le charpentier étend sa règle ; et il marque d'un trait ; il l'ajuste avec des rabots, et le marque avec le compas ; il le fait selon la figure d'un homme, selon la beauté d'un homme, afin qu’elle puisse rester dans la maison.

 13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

14 Il se coupe des cèdres, et prend un cyprès et un chêne, qu'il a laissé grandir pour lui parmi les arbres de la forêt ; il plante un frêne, et la pluie le nourrit.

 14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

15 Puis il servira à l'homme pour brûler ; car il en prendra, et s'en chauffera ; oui, il l'allume, et cuit du pain ; oui, il en fait un dieu, et l'adore ; il en fait une image taillée, et se courbe devant.

 15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

16 Il en brûle au feu une partie, avec l'autre partie il mange la chair, laquelle il rôtit et s'en rassasie ; oui, il se chauffe, et dit : Ah, j’ai chaud, j'ai vu le feu.

 16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

17 Et avec le reste il fait un dieu, c'est-à-dire son image taillée ; il tombe à terre et l'adore, et lui adresse cette prière : Délivre-moi, car tu es mon dieu.

 17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

18 Ils n'ont pas su ni compris ; car il a fermé leurs yeux, afin qu'ils ne puissent voir, et leurs cœurs, afin qu'ils ne puissent comprendre.

 18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

19 Nul ne considère en son cœur, ni y-a-til connaissance ou intelligence, pour dire : J'wn ai brûlé une partie au feu ; oui, j'ai aussi cuit du pain sur ses charbons ; j'ai rôti de la chair et l'ai mangée ; et en ferai-je avec le reste une abomination ? Tomberai-je à terre devant une souche d'un arbre ?

 19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

20 Il se nourrit de cendres ; un cœur trompé l'a détourné, si bien qu'il nepeut délivrer pas son âme, ni dire : N'y a-t-il pas un mensonge dans ma main droite ?

 20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

21 ¶ Souviens-toi de ceci ô Jacob, et Israël, car tu es mon serviteur ; je t'ai formé, tu es mon serviteur, ô Israël, tu ne seras pas oublié de moi.

 21 ¶ Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

22 J'ai effacé comme un nuage épais tes transgressions, et comme un nuage tes péchés ; reviens à moi, car je t'ai racheté.

 22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

23 Chantez ô vous les cieux ; car le SEIGNEUR l'a fait ; criez, vous les parties les plus basses de la terre, éclatez en chantant, vous montagnes, ô forêts, et tous leurs arbres car le SEIGNEUR a racheté Jacob, et s'est glorifié en Israël.

 23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

24 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, ton rédempteur, qui t'a formé dès l’utérus : Je suis le SEIGNEUR, qui fais toutes choses, qui seul déploie les cieux ; qui, par moi-même, étends la terre ;

 24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

25 Qui déjoue les indices des menteurs, et rends fous les devins ; qui fais retourner en arrière les hommes sages, et rend leur connaissance une folie ;

 25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

26 Qui confirme la parole de son serviteur, et accomplis le conseil de ses messagers ; qui dis à Jérusalem : Tu seras habitée, et aux villes de Judah : Vous serez rebâties, et je relèverai ses lieux en ruines ;

 26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

27 Qui dis à l'abîme : Sois sec, et je dessécherai tes fleuves.

 27 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

28 Qui dis de Cyrus : Il est mon berger, et il accomplira tout mon bon plaisir, disant même à Jérusalem : Tu seras rebâtie, et au temple : Ton fondement sera posé.

 28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
