1 Écoutez-moi, ô îles ; et prêtez attention, vous peuples lointains. Le SEIGNEUR m'a appelé dès l’utérus ; depuis les entrailles de ma mère, il a fait mention de mon nom.

 1 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

2 Et il a rendu ma bouche semblable à une épée aiguë ; il m'a caché dans l'ombre de sa main, et a fait de moi une flèche polie ; il m'a caché dans son carquois.

 2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

3 Et il m'a dit : Tu es mon serviteur, ô Israël en qui je serai glorifié.

 3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

4 Puisj'ai dit : J'ai travaillé en vain, j'ai consumé ma vigueur pour rien et en vain ; toutefois mon jugement est certainement envers le SEIGNEUR, et mon œuvre envers mon Dieu.

 4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.

5 ¶ Et maintenant dit le SEIGNEUR qui m'a formé dès l’utérus pour être son serviteur, pour ramener à lui Jacob ; bien qu'Israël ne soit pas rassemblé, cependant je serai rendu glorieux aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, et mon Dieu sera ma vigueur.

 5 ¶ And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

6 Et il a dit : C'est peu de chose que tu sois mon serviteur, pour relever les tribus de Jacob et pour restaurer les préservés d'Israël je te donnerai aussi pour tre une lumière aux Gentils, afin que tu puisses être mon salut jusqu'au bout de la terre.

 6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

7 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Rédempteur, et son Saint, à lui que l'homme méprise, à lui que la nation abhorre, au serviteur des dirigeants : Des rois le verront et se lèveront, des princes aussi l'adoreront, à cause du SEIGNEUR qui est fidèle, et du Saint d'Israël, et il te choisira.

 7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

8 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : En un temps acceptable je t'ai entendu, et au jour du salut je t'ai aidé ; je te préserverai, et te donnerai pour être une alliance du peuple, pour établir la terre, pour faire hériter les héritages dévastés ;

 8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

9 Afin que tu puisses dire aux prisonniers : Sortez ; à ceux qui sont dans l'obscurité, Montrez-vous. Ils se nourriront sur les chemins, et leurs pâturages seront sur tous les lieux élevés.

 9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

10 Ils n'auront ni faim ni soif ; ni la chaleur ni le soleil ne les frapperont ; car celui qui leur montra de la miséricorde les conduira, il les guidera ainsi vers des sources d'eau.

 10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

11 Et je ferai de toutes mes montagnes un chemin, et mes grandes routes seront relevées.

 11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

12 Voici, ceux-ci viendront de loin ; et voici, ceux-là du Nord et de l'Ouest, et ceux-là du pays de Sinin.

 12 Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

13 ¶ Chantez, ô Cieux, et réjouis-toi, ô Terre, éclatez en chantant, ô montagnes, car le SEIGNEUR a consolé son peuple et fera miséricorde à ses affligés.

 13 ¶ Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

14 Mais Zion (Sion) a dit : Le Seigneur m'a abandonnée, et mon Seigneur m'a oubliée.

 14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

15 Une femme peut-elle oublier son enfant qu'elle allaite, qu’elle n’ait pas compassion du fils de son utérus ? Oui, elles sont capables d'oublier, cependant je ne t'oublierai pas.

 15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

16 Voici, je t'ai gravée sur les paumes de mes mains ; tes murs sont continuellement devant moi.

 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 Tes enfants viendront en hâte ; tes destructeurs et ceux qui te dévastaient sortiront du milieu de toi.

 17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

18 ¶Élève tes yeux alentour, et regarde tous ceux-ci se sont assemblés, et viennent à toi. Comme je suis vivant, dit le SEIGNEUR, tu te revêtiras certainement d'eux tous comme d'un ornement, tu t'en ceindras comme une mariée fait.

 18 ¶ Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.

19 Car ta dévastation et tes lieux sauvages, et ton pays détruit, seront ainsi trop étroits à cause du nombre des habitants, et ceux qui te dévoraient seront loin.

 19 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

20 Les enfants que tu auras, après avoir perdu les autres, te diront encore en tes oreilles : Le lieu est trop étroit pour moi ; fais-moi place, afin que je puisse demeurer.

 20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.

21 Alors tu diras en ton cœur : Qui m'a engendré ceux-ci, vu que j'avais perdu mes enfants, et j'étais seule, en captivité, allant çà et là ? Voici, j'étais laissée seule, ceux-ci, où étaient-ils ?

 21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

22 Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Voici, je lèverai ma main vers les Gentils, et j'élèverai mon étendard vers les peuples ; et ils ramèneront tes fils entre leurs bras, et tes filles seront portées sur leurs épaules.

 22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

23 Et des rois seront tes pères nourriciers, et leurs reines, tes mères nourricières ; ils se courberont devant toi, leur visage contre terre, et lécheront la poussière de tes pieds ; et tu sauras que je suis le SEIGNEUR, car ceux qui m'attendent ne seront pas honteux.

 23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

24 ¶ La proie de l’homme puissant lui sera-t-elle ôtée, ou les captifs légitimes seront-ils délivrés ?

 24 ¶ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

25 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur : Même les captifs de l'homme puissant lui seront ôtés, et la proie du terrifiant sera délivrée car je contesterai avec celui qui conteste avec toi, et je sauverai tes enfants.

 25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

26 Et je nourrirai ceux qui t'oppriment de leur propre chair ; et ils s'enivreront de leur propre sang, comme avec du vin nouveau ; et toute chair saura que moi, le SEIGNEUR je suis ton Sauveur et ton Rédempteur, le Puissant de Jacob.

 26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
