1 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Où est la lettre de divorce de votre mère, que j'ai répudiée ? Ou, qui est celui de mes créanciers auquel je vous ai vendus ? Voici, à cause de vos iniquités vous vous êtes vendus, et à cause de vos transgressions votre mère a été répudiée.

1 Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

2 Pourquoi quand je suis venu, il ne s'est trouvé personne ? quand j'ai appelé, il n'y avait personne pour répondre ? Ma main est-elle en quelque sorte raccourcie pour qu'elle ne puisse pas racheter ? ou n'ai-je pas la puissance pour délivrer ? Voici, je dessèche la mer à ma réprimande, je fais des rivières un désert ; leurs poissons deviennent puants, par manque d'eau, et meurent de soif.

2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

3 Je revêts les cieux de noirceur, et je leur mets un sac pour couverture.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
|
4 Le Seigneur DIEU m'a donné la langue des gens instruits, pour que je sache comment dire une parole à propos à celui qui est fatigué ; il me réveille, chaque matin, il réveille mon oreille pour entendre comme ceux qui sont instruits.

4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

5 ¶ Le Seigneur DIEU a ouvert mon oreille, et je n'ai pas été rebelle, je n'ai pas non plus reculé.
|
5 ¶ The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
|
6 J'ai donné mon dos à ceux qui frappaient, et mes joues à ceux qui m'arrachaient le poil ; je n'ai pas caché mon visage aux outrages ni aux crachats.
|
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
|
7 ¶ Car le Seigneur DIEU m'aidera ; c'est pourquoi je n'aurai pas honte ; c'est pourquoi j'ai rendu mon visage semblable à un silex, et je sais que je ne serai pas rendu honteux.

7 ¶ For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
|
8 Il est proche celui qui me justifie ; qui contestera avec moi ? Comparaissons ensemble : qui est mon adversaire ? Qu'il s'approche de moi.
|
8 He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
|
9 Voici, le Seigneur DIEU m'aidera ; qui est celui qui me condamnera ? Voici, ils s’useront tous comme un vêtement, la mite les dévorera.
|
9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
|
10 ¶ Qui est celui d'entre vous qui craint le SEIGNEUR, qui obéit la voix de son serviteur, qui marche dans l'obscurité, et n'a pas de lumière ? Qu'il se confie dans le nom du SEIGNEUR, et s'appuie sur son Dieu.
|
10 ¶ Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
|
11 Voici, vous tous qui allumez un feu, qui vous entourez d'étincelles, marchez à la lueur de votre feu et des étincelles que vous avez allumées. Ceci vous aurez de ma main ; vous vous coucherez dans la souffrance.

11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
