1 Allez maintenant, vous hommes riches, pleurez et hurlez, pour vos misères qui viendront sur vous.

 1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2 Vos richesses sont corrompues, et vos habits sont rongés par les mites.

 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

3 Votre or et votre argent se sont corrodés; et leur rouille sera un témoignage contre vous et mangera votre chair comme si c’était du feu. Vous avez amassé un trésor pour les derniers jours.

 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4 Voici, le salaire des ouvriers qui ont moissonné vos champs, duquel vous avez retenu frauduleusement, crie: et les cris de ceux qui ont moissonné sont parvenus aux oreilles du Seigneur de sabaoth.

 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

5 Vous avez vécu dans le plaisir sur la terre, et dans la débauche; vous avez nourri vos cœurs, comme en un jour de carnage.

 5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

6 Vous avez condamné et tué le juste; et il ne vous résiste pas.

 6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

7 Soyez donc patients, frères, jusqu'à la venue du Seigneur. Voici, le cultivateur attend le précieux fruit de la terre, et démontre une grande patience pour lui, jusqu'à ce qu'il reçoive la première et la dernière pluie.

 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Vous aussi soyez patients; affermissez vos cœurs: car la venue du Seigneur approche.

 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

9 Ne soyez pas mécontents l’un contre l’autre, frères, de peur que vous ne soyez condamnés: voici, le juge se tient devant la porte.

 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

10 Prenez, mes frères, les prophètes, qui ont parlé dans le nom du Seigneur, en tant qu’exemple d’affliction douloureuse et de patience.

 10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11 Voici, nous estimons heureux ceux qui endurent. Vous avez entendu parler de la patience de Job, et vous avez vu la fin du Seigneur; que le Seigneur est plein de pitié et de tendre miséricorde.

 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

12 Mais avant toutes choses, mes frères, ne jurez pas, ni par le ciel, ni par la terre, ni par aucun autre serment: mais que votre oui soit oui, et votre non, non; de peur que vous ne tombiez en condamnation.

 12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

13 Y a-t-il quelqu'un parmi vous qui est affligé? Qu'il prie. Quelqu'un est-il joyeux? Qu'il chante des psaumes.

 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Y a-t-il 'un malade parmi vous? Qu'il appelle les anciens de l'église; et qu’ils prient pour lui, en l'oignant d'huile dans le nom du Seigneur.

 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 Et la prière de la foi sauvera le malade, et le Seigneur le relèvera; et s'il a commis des péchés, ils lui seront pardonnés.

 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confessez vos fautes l’un à l’autre, et priez l’un pour l’autre, afin que vous puissiez être guéris. L’efficace fervente prière d’un homme droit a beaucoup d’effet.

 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Élie était un homme sujet aux mêmes passions que nous, et il pria intensément pour qu'il ne pleuve pas: et il ne plut pas sur la terre durant trois ans et six mois.

 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 Et il pria de nouveau, et le ciel donna de la pluie, et la terre produisit son fruit.

 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19 Frères, si l'un de vous s'égare de la vérité, et que quelqu'un le convertisse;

 19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Qu'il sache que celui qui convertit le pécheur de l'erreur de son chemin sauvera une âme de la mort, et cachera une multitude de péchés.

 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
