1 Les paroles de Jeremiah (Jérémie), le fils de Hilkiah, d’entre les prêtres qui étaient à Anathoth, dans le pays de Benjamin.

1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
|
2 Auquel vint la parole du SEIGNEUR aux jours de Josiah, le fils d’Amon, roi de Juda, en la treizième année de son règne ;
|
2 To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
|
3 Laquelle vint aussi aux jours de Jehoiakim le fils de Josiah, roi de Juda, jusqu’à la fin de la onzième année de Zedekiah (Sédécias) le fils de Josiah, roi de Juda, jusqu’à ce que Jérusalem soit emmenée en captivité, au cinquième mois.

3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

4 Puis la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :
|
4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
|
5 Avant que je t’aie formé dans le ventre de ta mère, je te connaissais ; avant que tu sois sorti de l’utérus, je t’avais sanctifié, et je t’avais ordonné prophète pour les nations.
|
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
|
6 Et je dis : Ah, Seigneur DIEU, voici, je ne peux pas parler ; car je suis un enfant.
|
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
|
7 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR me dit : Ne dis pas : Je suis un enfant ; car tu iras vers tous ceux à qui je t’enverrai, et tu diras tout ce que je te commanderai.
|
7 ¶ But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
|
8 Ne crains pas de te trouver devant eux, car je suis avec toi pour te délivrer, dit le SEIGNEUR.
|
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
|
9 Puis le SEIGNEUR étendit sa main et toucha ma bouche. Et le SEIGNEUR me dit : Voici, j’ai mis mes paroles dans ta bouche.
|
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
|
10 Regarde, je t’ai établi aujourd’hui sur les nations et sur les royaumes, pour déraciner et pour démolir, et pour détruire, et pour renverser, et pour bâtir et pour planter.
|
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
|
11 ¶ De plus la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant : Que vois-tu, Jérémie ? Et je dis : Je vois un bâton d’amandier.
|
11 ¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
|
12 Puis le SEIGNEUR me dit : Tu as bien vu ; car je vais accélérer ma parole afin de l’exécuter.
|
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
|
13 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi une seconde fois, disant : Que vois-tu ? Et je dis : Je vois un pot bouillant, dont le devant est vers le Nord.
|
13 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
|
14 Et le SEIGNEUR me dit : Du nord un mal éclatera sur tous les habitants du pays.
|
14 Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
|
15 Car voici, je vais appeler toutes les familles des royaumes du Nord, dit le SEIGNEUR ; et elles viendront et mettront chacune son trône à l’entrée des portes de Jérusalem, et contre toutes ses murailles tout autour, et contre toutes les villes de Juda.
|
15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
|
16 Et je prononcerai mes jugements contre eux, à cause de toute leur malice, parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné et ont brûlé de l’encens à d’autres dieux et ont adoré les ouvrages de leurs mains.
|
16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
|
17 ¶ Toi donc, ceins tes reins, et lève-toi, et dis-leur tout ce que je te commanderai ; ne soit pas consterné de te trouver devant eux, de peur que je ne te rende déconcerté devant eux.
|
17 ¶ Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
|
18 Car voici, je t’ai aujourd’hui établi comme une ville forte, et comme une colonne de fer, et comme une muraille de bronze contre tout le pays contre les rois de Juda, contre ses princes, contre ses prêtres et contre le peuple du pays.
|
18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
|
19 Et ils combattront contre toi, mais ils ne prévaudront pas contre toi ; car je suis avec toi, dit le SEIGNEUR, pour te délivrer.
|
19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
