1 La parole qui vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie) du SEIGNEUR, disant :

 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Ainsi a parle SEIGNEUR, le Dieu d’Israël : Tu écriras, toi, toutes les paroles que je t’ai dites dans un livre.

 2 Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

3 Car voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, où je ramènerai la captivité de mon peuple Israël et Juda, dit le SEIGNEUR ; et je les ferai retourner dans le pays que j’ai donné à leurs pères, et ils le posséderont.

 3 For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

4 ¶ Et ce sont ici les paroles que le SEIGNEUR a dites au sujet d’Israël et au sujet de Juda ;

 4 ¶ And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

5 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Nous avons entendu une voix d’angoisse ; et de frayeur, et non pas de paix.

 5 For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

6 Informez-vous maintenant, et voyez si un homme enfante ? Pourquoi vois-je tout homme ses mains sur ses reins, comme une femme en travail ? Et pourquoi tous les visages sont-ils devenus pâles ?

 6 Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

7 Hélas ! Car cette journée est grande, de sorte qu’il n’y en a pas de semblable ; c’est même le temps de détresse pour Jacob ; mais il en sera délivré.

 7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

8 Car il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, que je briserai son joug de dessus ton cou, et je romprai tes liens ; et les étrangers ne se serviront plus de lui.

 8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

9 Mais ils serviront le SEIGNEUR leur Dieu et David leur roi, lequel je leur susciterai.

 9 But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

10 ¶ C’est pourquoi, ne crains pas, ô mon serviteur Jacob, dit le SEIGNEUR ; ne sois pas non plus consterné, ô Israël : car voici, je te sauverai du pays lointain et ta semence du pays de leur captivité ; et Jacob retournera, et sera en repos et tranquille et personne ne lui fera peur.

 10 ¶ Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

11 Car je suis avec toi, dit le SEIGNEUR, pour te sauver, et même je te consumerai entièrement toutes les nations où je t’ai dispersé ; mais je ne te consumerai pas entièrement ; mais je te corrigerai avec mesure ; cependant je ne te laisserai pas impuni.

 11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

12 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Ta blessure est incurable, et ta plaie est sérieuse.

 12 For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

13 Il n’y a personne qui pour plaider ta cause, qui puisse te bander ; tu n’as aucun remède de guérison.

 13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

14 Tous tes amoureux t’ont oubliée ; ils ne te cherchent pas ; car je t’ai blessée comme blesse un ennemi, comme d’un châtiment d’un homme cruel, à cause de la multitude de tes iniquités, parce que tes péchés se sont accrus.

 14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

15 Pourquoi cries-tu pour ton affliction ? Ta douleur est incurable à cause de la multitude de ton iniquité : je t’ai fait ces choses parce que tes péchés se sont accrus.

 15 Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

16 C’est pourquoi tous ceux qui te dévorent seront dévorés, et tous tes adversaires, chacun d’eux, s’en iront en captivité ; et ceux qui te saccageront seront saccagés, et tous ceux qui te pillent je les livrerai au pillage.

 16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

17 Mais je te rétablirai ta santé et je te guérirai de tes blessures dit le SEIGNEUR ; parce qu’ils t’ont appelée, une Rejetée, disant : c’est Sion, que personne ne recherche.

 17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

18 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici je vais ramener les captifs des tentes de Jacob, et ferai miséricorde sur ses demeures ; et la ville sera bâtie sur son propre monceau de ruines, et le palais rétabli comme il doit être..

 18 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof.

19 Et il sortira d’eux remerciement et la voix de ceux qui sont heureux ; et je les multiplierai, et ils ne seront plus diminués ; je les glorifierai aussi, et ils ne seront pas rendus petits.

 19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

20 Leurs enfants aussi seront comme autrefois, et sa congrégation sera affermie devant moi, et je punirai tous ceux qui l’oppriment.

 20 Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.

21 Et leurs notables seront de lui, et leur gouverneur sera issu du milieu de lui ; et je le ferai approcher, et il viendra vers moi ; car qui est celui qui ait engagé son cœur à venir vers moi ? dit le SEIGNEUR.

 21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.

22 Et vous serez mon peuple, et je serai votre Dieu.

 22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

23 Voici, le tourbillon du SEIGNEUR, sort avec fureur, un continuel tourbillon ; il tombera avec douleur sur la tête des méchants.

 23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.

24 L’ardent courroux du SEIGNEUR ne retournera pas, jusqu’à ce qu’il ait exécuté et accompli les desseins de son cœur. Vous comprendrez ceci dans les derniers jours.

 24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.
