1 En ce temps-là, dit le SEIGNEUR, je serai le Dieu de toutes les familles d’Israël ; et ils seront mon peuple.

 1 At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

2 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Le peuple qui avait échappé à l’épée, a trouvé grâce dans le désert ; c’est-à-dire Israël lorsque je vais lui donner du repos.

 2 Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

3 Le SEIGNEUR m’est apparu jadis, disant : Oui, je t’ai aimée d’un amour éternel, c’est pourquoi je t’ai attirée avec ma bonté compatissante.

 3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

4 Je te bâtirai encore et tu seras bâtie, ô vierge d’Israël : tu seras de nouveau parée encore de tes tambourins, et tu sortiras au milieu des danses de ceux qui sont heureux.

 4 Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

5 Tu planteras encore des vignes sur les montagnes de Samarie ; les planteurs planteront, et les mangeront comme des choses ordinaires.

 5 Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

6 Car il y aura un jour auquel les sentinelles crieront, sur le mont Ephraim (Éphraïm) : Levez-vous, et montons à Sion vers le SEIGNEUR, notre Dieu.

 6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

7 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Chantez avec joie pour Jacob, et criez parmi la principale des nations ; publiez, louez, et dites : Ô SEIGNEUR, sauve ton peuple, le reste d’Israël

 7 For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

8 Voici, je m’en vais les faire venir du pays du Nord, et je les rassemblerai des confins de la terre, et parmi eux sont l’aveugle et le boiteux, la femme enceinte et celle qui enfante ; une grande compagnie retournera ici

 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

9 Ils viendront avec pleurs et supplications ; je les conduirai, je les ferai marcher près des torrents d’eaux, par un droit chemin où ils ne trébucheront pas ; car je suis un père pour Israël, et Ephraim (Éphraïm) est mon premier-né.

 9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

10 ¶ Ô vous nations, entendez la parole du SEIGNEUR ; et déclarez-la dans les îles lointaines, et dites : Celui qui a dispersé Israël, le rassemblera, et il le gardera comme un berger garde son troupeau.

 10 ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

11 Car le SEIGNEUR a racheté Jacob, et l’a rançonné de la main de celui qui était plus fort que lui.

 11 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

12 C’est pourquoi ils viendront, et chanteront sur les hauteurs de Sion, et afflueront vers la bonté du SEIGNEUR, au blé, et au vin, et à l’huile, et vers les petits du gros et du menu bétail ; et leur âme sera comme un jardin arrosé, et ils ne seront plus jamais tristes.

 12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

13 Alors la vierge se réjouira dans la danse, et les jeunes hommes et les anciens ensemble, car je changerai leur deuil en joie, et je les consolerai, et je les ferai se réjouir après leur tristesse.

 13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

14 Et je rassasierai de graisse l’âme des prêtres, et mon peuple sera satisfait de ma bonté, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

15 ¶Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : On a entendu dans Ramah (Rama) des cris, des lamentations, des pleurs amers ; Rahel (Rachel) pleurant ses enfants ; elle a refusé d’être consolée au sujet de ses enfants, parce qu’ils ne sont plus.

 15 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

16 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Retiens ta voix de pleurer, et tes yeux de verser des larmes ; car ton œuvre sera récompensée, dit le SEIGNEUR ; et ils reviendront du pays de l’ennemi.

 16 Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

17 Et il y a espoir pour ta fin, dit le SEIGNEUR ; tes enfants reviendront dans leur territoire.

 17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

18 ¶ J’ai très bien entendu Ephraim (Éphraïm) se plaignant ainsi :Tu m’as châtié, et j’ai été châtié comme un taureau non accoutumé au joug ; fais-moi me retourner, et je retournerai ; car tu es le SEIGNEUR, mon Dieu !

 18 ¶ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

19 Certes, après m’être détourné, je me repentis, et après cela, j’ai été instruit, j’ai frappé sur ma cuisse ; j’ai été honteux, oui, même confus, parce que j’ai porté l’outrage de ma jeunesse.

 19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

20 Ephraim (Éphraïm) est-il mon cher fils ? est-il, un enfant plaisant ? Car depuis que j’ai parlé contre lui, je me souviens encore de lui expressément ; c’est pourquoi mes entrailles sont émues à cause de lui ; je lui ferai certainement miséricorde, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

21 Dresse-toi des indices, fais-toi des monceaux de pierres place ton cœur vers la grande route, c’est-à-dire le chemin par lequel tu es venu. Retourne, ô vierge d’Israël, retourne à tes villes.

 21 Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

22 ¶ Jusqu’à quand iras-tu ça et là, ô toi fille apostate ? Car le SEIGNEUR a créé une chose nouvelle sur la terre : Une femme environnera un homme.

 22 ¶ How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

23 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : On dira encore cette parole dans le pays de Juda et dans ses villes, quand je ramènerai leurs captifs : Le SEIGNEUR te bénisse, ô habitation de justice, et montagne de sainteté.

 23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

24 Et là demeureront en Juda, elle même, et dans toutes ses villes ensemble, les laboureurs et ceux qui marchent avec les troupeaux.

 24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

25 Car j’ai rassasié l’âme lassée, et j’ai rempli toute âme triste.

 25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

26 Là-dessus je me suis réveillé, et j’ai contemplé ; et mon sommeil m’a été doux.

 26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

27 ¶ Voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, que j’ensemencerai la maison d’Israël et la maison de Juda d’une semence d’homme et d’une semence de bête.

 27 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

28 Et il arrivera que comme j’ai veillé sur eux pour arracher et pour démolir, et pour renverser et pour détruire, et pour faire du mal, ainsi je veillerai sur eux pour bâtir et pour planter, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

29 En ces jours-là on ne dira plus : Les pères ont mangé du raisin aigre, et les dents des enfants en sont agacées.

 29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

30 Mais chacun mourra pour son iniquité ; tout homme qui mangera du raisin aigre, ses dents en seront agacées.

 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

31 ¶ Voici les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, que je traiterai une nouvelle alliance avec la maison d’Israël et avec la maison de Juda ;

 31 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Non selon l’alliance que je traitai avec leurs pères, au jour que je les pris par la main pour les faire sortir du pays d’Égypte, mon alliance qu’ils ont rompue, toutefois j’avais été pour eux un mari, dit le SEIGNEUR ;

 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 Mais celle-ci sera l’alliance que je traiterai avec la maison d’Israël, après ces jours-là, dit le SEIGNEUR : Je mettrai ma loi au-dedans d’eux, et je l’écrirai dans leur cœur ; et je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple.

 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 Et ils n’enseigneront plus chacun son voisin, et chacun son frère, en disant : Connaissez Le SEIGNEUR : car ils me connaîtront tous, depuis le plus petit d’entre eux jusqu’au plus grand, dit le SEIGNEUR ; car je pardonnerai leur iniquité, et je ne me souviendrai jamais plus de leur péché.

 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

35 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, qui donne le soleil pour être la lumière du jour, et les règlements de la lune et des étoiles pour être la lumière de la nuit ; qui fend la mer, lorsque ses flots grondent ; Le SEIGNEUR des armées est son nom.

 35 ¶ Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

36 Si ces règlements disparaissent devant moi, dit le SEIGNEUR, alors la semence d’Israël aussi cessera d’être une nation devant moi pour toujours.

 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

37 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Si le ciel en haut peut être mesurés, et les fondements de la terre en bas sondés, aussi rejetterai-je toute la semence d’Israël à cause de tout ce qu’ils ont fait, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

38 ¶ Voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, où la ville sera rebâtie au SEIGNEUR, depuis la tour de Hananeel jusqu’à la porte du coin.

 38 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

39 Et le cordeau à mesurer sortira encore vis-à-vis d’elle sur la colline de Gareb, et fera le tour vers Goath.

 39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

40 Et toute la vallée des cadavres et de la cendre, et tous les champs jusqu’au torrent du Kidron (Cédron), jusqu’au coin de la porte des chevaux, du côté est, seront saints au SEIGNEUR, elle ne sera plus jamais ravagée ni renversée.

 40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
