1 Or il arriva, que lorsque Jeremiah (Jérémie) eut achevé de parler à tout le peuple toutes les paroles du SEIGNEUR leur Dieu, pour lesquelles le SEIGNEUR leur Dieu, l’avait envoyé vers eux, c’est-à-dire toutes ces paroles-là,

1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,
|
2 Alors Azariah, le fils de Hoshaiah, et Johanan, le fils de Kareah, et tous ces hommes orgueilleux, dirent à Jeremiah (Jérémie) : Tu parles faussement ; le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu ne t’a pas envoyé pour dire : N’allez pas en Égypte pour y séjourner.

2 Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:
|
3 Mais Baruch, le fils de Neriah, t’incite contre nous, afin de nous livrer en la main des Chaldéens, afin qu’ils nous mettent à mort et pour nous emmener captifs à Babylone.
|
3 But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.
|
4 Ainsi Johanan, le fils de Kareah, et tous les capitaines des forces, et tout le peuple, n’obéirent pas à la voix du SEIGNEUR, pour demeurer dans le pays de Juda .
|
4 So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.
|
5 Et Johanan, le fils de Kareah, et tous les capitaines des forces, prirent tout le reste de Juda qui était retourné de toutes les nations parmi lesquelles ils avaient été chassés, pour demeurer dans le pays de Juda
|
5 But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;
|
6 C’est-à-dire hommes, femmes, et enfants, ainsi que les filles du roi, et toutes les personnes que Nebuzaradan, le capitaine des gardes, avait laissées avec Gedaliah, le fils d’Ahikam, le fils de Shaphan, ainsi que Jeremiah (Jérémie), le prophète, et Baruch, fils de Neriah ;

6 Even men, and women, and children, and the king’s daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.

7 Et ils entrèrent dans le pays d’Égypte, car ils n’obéirent pas à la voix du SEIGNEUR, et ils vinrent jusqu’à Tahpanhes.
|
7 So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.
|
8 ¶ Alors la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie), à Tahpanhes, disant :
|
8 ¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
|
9 Prends de grosses pierres dans ta main, et cache-les dans l’argile, dans le four à briques, lequel est à l’entrée de la maison de Pharaon, à Tahpanhes, à la vue des hommes de Juda.
|
9 Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
|
10 Et dis-leur : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Voici, j’envoie et prendrai Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar), roi de Babylone, mon serviteur, et je mettrai son trône sur ces pierres que j’ai cachées, et il étendra son pavillon royal sur elles.

10 And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.
|
11 Et quand il viendra, il frappera le pays d’Égypte et livrera ceux qui sont destinés pour la mort, à la mort ; et ceux qui sont destinés pour la captivité, à la captivité, et ceux qui sont pour l’épée à l’épée.
|
11 And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.
|
12 Et j’allumerai un feu dans les maisons des dieux d’Égypte, et il les brûlera, et les emmènera captifs ; et il se parera du pays d’Égypte, comme un berger se revêt de son vêtement, et il en sortira en paix.
|
12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
|
13 Il brisera aussi les statues de Bethshemesh, qui est dans le pays d’Égypte, et il brûlera par le feu les maisons des dieux de l’Égypte.
|
13 He shall break also the images of Bethshemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
