1 La parole qui vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie) au sujet de tous les Juifs qui demeuraient dans le pays d’Égypte, qui demeuraient à Migdol, à Tahpanhes, à Noph et dans la région de Pathros, disant :

 1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

2 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Vous avez vu tout le mal que j’ai fait venir sur Jérusalem et sur toutes les villes de Juda, et voici, aujourd’hui elles sont aujourd’hui désertes, et personne n’y demeure ;

 2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

3 À cause de la méchanceté qu’ils ont commise pour me provoquer au courroux, en ce qu’ils sont allés brûler de l’encens et servir d’autres dieux, qu’ils n’ont pas connus, ni eux, ni vous, ni vos pères.

 3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

4 Néanmoins je vous ai envoyé tous mes serviteurs les prophètes me levant de bonne heure et je les ai envoyés, disant : Oh, ne faites pas cette abominable chose, que je hais.

 4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

5 Mais ils n’ont pas écouté, ni incliné leur l’oreille, pour se détourner de leur méchanceté pour ne plus brûler d’encens à d’autres dieux.

 5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

6 C’est pourquoi ma fureur et mon courroux ont été versés, et ont embrasé les villes de Juda et les rues de Jérusalem, et elles sont dévastées et ravagées, comme cela est aujourd’hui.

 6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

7 C’est pourquoi maintenant, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Dieu des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Pourquoi commettez-vous ce grand mal contre vos âmes, en vous faisant retrancher du milieu de Juda, hommes et femmes, enfants et celui qui tette, pour n’avoir aucun reste.

 7 Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;

8 En ce que vous me provoquez à la colère par les œuvres de vos mains, en brûlant de l’encens à d’autres dieux dans le pays d’Égypte, auquel vous êtes venus pour y demeurer, afin que vous soyez retranchés et que vous soyez une malédiction et un reproche parmi toutes les nations de la terre ?

 8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

9 Avez-vous oublié la méchanceté de vos pères, et la méchanceté des rois de Juda, et les méchancetés de leurs femmes, vos méchancetés et les méchancetés de vos femmes, commis dans le pays de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem ?

 9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

10 Ils ne se sont pas humiliés ni même jusqu’à ce jour, ils n’ont pas eu de crainte non plus, et ils n’ont pas marché dans ma loi, ni dans mes statuts que j’ai mis devant vous et devant vos pères.

 10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

11 ¶ C’est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Voici, je vais dresser mon visage contre vous en mal et pour retrancher tout Juda.

 11 ¶ Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

12 Je prendrai le reste de Juda, ceux qui ont dressé leurs visages pour aller dans le pays d’Égypte pour y séjourner, et ils seront tous consumés ; et ils tomberont dans le pays d’Égypte, ils seront consumés par l’épée et par la famine ; depuis le plus petit jusqu’au plus grand, ils mourront par l’épée et par la famine ; et ils seront une exécration, et un étonnement, et une malédiction et un reproche.

 12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

13 Car je punirai ceux qui demeurent dans le pays d’Égypte, comme j’ai puni Jérusalem, par l’épée, par la famine et par la pestilence.

 13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

14 Si bien que personne du reste de Juda qui est venu dans le pays d’Égypte pour y séjourner, échappera ou restera, pour retourner dans le Juda, vers lequel ils avaient le désir de retourner pour y demeurer ; car pas un ne retournera, sinon les rescapés.

 14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.

15 ¶ Alors tous les hommes qui savaient que leurs femmes avaient brûlé de l’encens à d’autres dieux, et toutes les femmes qui se tenaient là, une grande multitude, et tout le peuple qui demeurait dans le pays d’Égypte, à Pathros, répondirent à Jeremiah (Jérémie), en disant :

 15 ¶ Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 Quant à la parole que tu nous as dite au nom du SEIGNEUR, nous ne t’écouterons pas.

 16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

17 Mais nous ferons certainement tout ce qui est sorti de notre bouche, en brûlant de l’encens à la reine du ciel, et en lui répandant des offrandes liquides comme nous avons fait, nous et nos pères, nos rois et nos princes, dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem ; car alors nous avons eu abondance de victuailles, et étions bien, et n’avons pas vu le malheur.

 17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

18 Mais, depuis que nous avons cessé de brûler de l’encens à la reine du ciel et de lui répandre des offrandes liquides, nous avons manqué de tout, et nous avons été consumés par l’épée et par la famine.

 18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

19 Et quand nous brûlions de l’encens à la reine du ciel et lui répandions des offrandes liquides, lui avons-nous fait des gâteaux pour l’adorer, et lui avons-nous répandu des offrandes liquides sans nos maris ?

 19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

20 ¶ Jeremiah (Jérémie) dit alors à tout le peuple, aux hommes, aux femmes, et à tout le peuple qui avait fait cette réponse, disant :

 20 ¶ Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

21 L’encens que vous brûliez dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, vous et vos pères, vos rois et vos princes et le peuple du pays, le SEIGNEUR ne s’en est-il pas souvenu, et cela ne lui est-il pas venu à la pensée ?

 21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

22 En sorte que le SEIGNEUR n’a pu le supporter davantage, à cause de la malice de vos actions, et à cause des abominations que vous avez commises ; c’est pourquoi votre pays est une désolation, et un étonnement et une malédiction, sans un habitant, comme c’est aujourd’hui.

 22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

23 Parce que vous avez brûlé de l’encens, et que vous avez péché contre Le SEIGNEUR, et que vous n’avez pas obéi à la voix du SEIGNEUR, ni marché dans sa loi, ni dans ses statuts, ni dans ses témoignages ; c’est pourquoi ce mal vous est arrivé, comme c’est aujourd’hui.

 23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

24 De plus Jeremiah (Jérémie) dit à tout le peuple, et à toutes les femmes : Entendez la parole du SEIGNEUR, tout Juda, qui êtes dans le pays d’Égypte :

 24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

25 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Vous et vos femmes, vous avez parlé de vos bouches, et accompli de votre main, disant : Certainement nous accomplirons les vœux que nous avons faits, de brûler de l’encens à la reine du ciel et de lui répandre des offrandes de breuvage ; vous accomplirez certainement vos vœux, et vous les exécuterez assurément.

 25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

26 C’est pourquoi, écoutez la parole du SEIGNEUR, vous tout Juda qui demeurez dans le pays d’Égypte : Voici, j’ai juré par mon grand nom, a dit le SEIGNEUR, que mon nom ne sera plus mentionné par la bouche d’aucun homme de Juda, disant : Le Seigneur DIEU est vivant. "

 26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

27 Voici, je veillerai sur eux en mal, et non en bien ; et tous les hommes de Juda qui sont dans le pays d’Égypte, seront consumés par l’épée et par la famine, jusqu’à ce qu’il n’y en ait plus.

 27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

28 Cependant un petit nombre qui aura échappé à l’épée retournera du pays d’Égypte dans le pays de Juda, et tout le reste de Juda, ceux qui sont venus dans le pays d’Égypte pour y demeurer, sauront quelle parole subsistera, la mienne ou la leur.

 28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.

29 ¶ Et ceci vous sera pour signe, dit le SEIGNEUR, que je vous punirai dans ce lieu, afin que vous sachiez que mes paroles s’accompliront infailliblement contre vous en mal ;

 29 ¶ And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

30 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici, je vais livrer Pharaohhophra (Pharaon Hophra), roi d’Égypte, en la main de ses ennemis, et en la main et de ceux qui cherchent sa vie, comme j’ai livré Zedekiah (Sédécias), roi de Juda, en la main de Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar), roi de Babylone, son ennemi, qui cherchait sa vie.

 30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
