1 Élihu continua de parler et dit :
|
1 Elihu spake moreover, and said,
|
2 Penses-tu être en droit, quand tu dis : Mon intégrité est au-dessus de celle de Dieu ?
|
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
|
3 Car tu dis : Quel avantage sera-t-il pour toi ? Et quel profit en aurai-je si je suis nettoyé de mon péché ?
|
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
|
4 Je te répondrai, et à tes compagnons avec toi.
|
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
|
5 Regarde les cieux, et vois ; et contemple les nuages qui sont plus hauts que toi.
|
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
|
6 Si tu pèches, que fais-tu contre lui ? et si tes transgressions se multiplient, que lui fais-tu ?
|
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
|
7 Si tu es droit, que lui donnes-tu ? ou que reçoit-il de ta main ?
|
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
|
8 Ta malfaisance peut blesser un homme tel que toi ; et ta rectitude peut profiter au fils de l’homme.
|
8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
|
9 À cause de la multitude des oppressions ils font crier les opprimés, ils crient à cause de la violence des puissants,
|
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
|
10 Mais personne ne dit : Où est Dieu, mon créateur, qui donne de quoi chanter pendant la nuit,
|
10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
|
11 Qui nous enseigne plus que les bêtes de la terre, et nous rend plus sages que les oiseaux du ciel ?
|
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
|
12 Là ils crient, mais personne ne répond, à cause de l’orgueil des hommes mauvais.
|
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
|
13 Quoique ce soit Dieu n’entend pas ce qui est vanité, et le Tout-Puissant n’y a pas égard.
|
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
|
14 Quoique tu dises que tu ne le vois pas, toutefois le jugement est devant lui c’est pourquoi mets ta confiance en lui.
|
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
|
15 Mais maintenant, parce qu’il n’en est pas ainsi, il a visité dans sa colère, toutefois il ne la connaît pas en grande abondance.
|
15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
|
16 C’est pourquoi Job ouvre sa bouche en vain ; il multiplie les paroles sans connaissance.
|
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
