1 Puis six jours avant la pâque, Jésus vint à Béthanie, où était Lazare qui avait été mort, lequel il ressuscita d’entre les morts.

 1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 Ils lui firent là un souper; et Marthe servait: mais Lazare était un de ceux qui étaient assis à table avec lui.

 2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Alors Marie prit une livre d’un baume de spicanard, très coûteux, et oignit les pieds de Jésus, et essuya ses pieds avec ses cheveux: et la maison fut remplie de l’odeur du baume.

 3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Alors l’un de ses disciples, Judas Iscariot, fils de Simon, celui qui devait le trahir, dit:

 4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Pourquoi ce baume n’a-t-il pas été vendu trois cents deniers, et donné aux pauvres?

 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 Il disait cela, non parce qu’il se souciait des pauvres; mais parce qu’il était un voleur, et avait la bourse, et portait ce qu’on y mettait.

 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Alors Jésus dit: Laisse-la: elle a gardé ceci pour le jour de mon ensevelissement.

 7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 Car vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous; mais moi, vous ne m’avez pas toujours.

 8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

9 Beaucoup de personnes parmi les Juifs surent donc qu’il était là: et ils ne vinrent pas seulement à cause de Jésus, mais afin qu’ils puissent voir aussi Lazare, qu’il avait ressuscité d’entre les morts.

 9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 ¶ Mais les principaux prêtres se consultèrent afin qu’ils puissent aussi mettre à mort Lazare;

 10 ¶ But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Parce que à cause de lui, beaucoup des Juifs s’en allaient, et croyaient en Jésus.

 11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 ¶ Le lendemain, un grand nombre de personnes qui étaient venues à la fête, lorsqu’ils entendirent que Jésus venait à Jérusalem,

 12 ¶ On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Prirent des branches de palmiers, et sortirent à sa rencontre et criaient: Hosanna: Béni soit le Roi d’Israël qui vient dans le nom du Seigneur.

 13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 Et Jésus, lorsqu’il trouva un ânon, s’assit dessus; selon qu’il est écrit,

 14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Ne crains pas, fille de Sion: voici, ton Roi vient, assis sur l’ânon d’une ânesse.

 15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

16 Ses disciples ne comprirent pas d’abord ces choses: mais quand Jésus fut glorifié, alors ils se souvinrent que ces choses étaient écrites de lui, et qu’ils avaient fait ces choses à son égard.

 16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 Le peuple donc qui était avec lui lorsqu’il appela Lazare hors de son tombeau, et qu’il le ressuscita d’entre les morts, attesta.

 17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 C’est aussi pour ce motif que le peuple allait à sa rencontre, car ils avaient entendu qu’il avait fait ce miracle.

 18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 Les Pharisiens dirent donc entre eux: Ne percevez-vous pas que vous ne gagnez rien? Voici, le monde est allé après lui.

 19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 ¶ Et il y avait certains Grecs parmi ceux qui étaient montés pour adorer à la fête:

 20 ¶ And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 Ceux-là vinrent donc à Philippe, qui était de Bethsaïda de Galilée, et le prièrent, disant: Sire, nous voudrions voir Jésus.

 21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philippe vient et le dit à André: et de nouveau André et Philippe le dirent à Jésus.

 22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 ¶ Et Jésus leur répondit, disant: L’heure est venue, où le Fils de l’homme doit être glorifié.

 23 ¶ And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis: À moins qu’un grain de blé tombe dans la terre et ne meure, il demeure seul: mais s’il meurt, il porte beaucoup de fruit.

 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 Celui qui aime sa vie la perdra; et celui qui hait sa vie en ce monde la gardera jusqu’à la vie éternelle.

 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 Si un homme me sert, qu’il me suive; et où je suis, là sera aussi mon serviteur: si un homme me sert, mon Père l’honorera.

 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Maintenant mon âme est troublée; et que dirai-je? Père, sauve-moi de cette heure: mais c’est pour ce motif que je suis venu à cette heure.

 27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Père, glorifie ton nom. Alors il vint une voix du ciel, disant: Je l’ai glorifié, et le glorifierai encore.

 28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 Le peuple donc, qui se tenait là, et l’avait entendu, disait qu’il avait tonné: d’autres disaient: Un ange lui a parlé.

 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jésus répondit et dit: Cette voix n’est pas venue à cause de moi, mais pour vous.

 30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Maintenant est le jugement de ce monde: maintenant le prince de ce monde sera jeté dehors.

 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 Et moi, si je suis élevé de la terre, j’attirerai tous les hommes vers moi.

 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 Il disait cela, pour signifier de quelle mort il devait mourir.

 33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 Le peuple lui répondit: Nous avons appris de la loi que Christ demeure pour toujours: et comment dis-tu, Le Fils de l’homme doit être élevé? Qui est ce Fils de l’homme?

 34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Alors Jésus leur dit: Pour encore un petit moment la lumière est avec vous. Marchez pendant que vous avez la lumière, de peur que l’obscurité ne vienne sur vous: car celui qui marche dans l’obscurité ne sait où il va.

 35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 Pendant que vous avez la lumière, croyez en la lumière, afin que vous puissiez être les enfants de lumière. Jésus dit ces choses, et s’en alla et se cacha d’eux.

 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 ¶ Mais bien qu’il eût fait tant de miracles devant eux, cependant ils ne crurent pas en lui:

 37 ¶ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 Afin que puisse être réalisé le propos d’Ésaïe le prophète, qu’il a dit, Seigneur, qui a cru notre rapport? Et à qui le bras du Seigneur a-t-il été révélé?

 38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Par conséquent ils ne pouvaient pas croire, parce qu’Ésaïe a dit encore,

 39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 Il a aveuglé leurs yeux, et endurci leur cœur; afin qu’ils ne voient pas avec leurs yeux, ni ne comprennent avec leur cœur, et ne soient convertis, et que je ne les guérisse.

 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 Ésaïe dit ces choses, lorsqu’il vit sa gloire et parla de lui.

 41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 ¶ Néanmoins beaucoup aussi parmi les chefs des dirigeants crurent en lui; mais à cause des Pharisiens ils ne le confessaient pas, de peur qu’ils soient exclus de la synagogue:

 42 ¶ Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 Car ils aimèrent la louange des hommes plus que la louange de Dieu.

 43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 ¶ Jésus s’écria et dit: Celui qui croit en moi, ne croit pas en moi, mais en celui qui m’a envoyé.

 44 ¶ Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 Et celui qui me voit, voit celui qui m’a envoyé.

 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 Je suis venu comme une lumière dans le monde, afin que quiconque croit en moi ne demeure pas dans l’obscurité.

 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 Et si un homme entend mes paroles, et ne croit pas, je ne le juge pas: car je ne suis pas venu pour juger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde.

 47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 Celui qui me rejette, et ne reçoit pas mes paroles, a qui le juge: la parole que j’ai dite, celle-là le jugera au dernier jour.

 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 Car je n’ai pas parlé de moi-même; mais le Père qui m’a envoyé, il m’a donné un commandement, ce que je devais dire et de quoi je devais parler.

 49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 Et je sais que son commandement est la vie sempiternelle: tout ce que je dis donc, je le dis comme le Père m’a dit, ainsi je parle.

 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
