1 Or avant la fête de la pâque, lorsque Jésus savait que son heure était venue où il devait partir de ce monde vers le Père, ayant aimé les siens qui étaient dans le monde, il les aima jusqu’à la fin.

 1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

2 Et le souper étant terminé, le diable ayant maintenant mis dans le cœur de Judas Iscariot, fils de Simon, de le trahir;

 2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;

3 Jésus sachant que le Père avait donné toutes choses entre ses mains, et qu’il était venu de Dieu, et s’en allait à Dieu;

 3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

4 Il se lève du souper et met de côté ses habits; et prit une serviette, et s’en ceignit.

 4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

5 Après cela il verse de l’eau dans une bassine et se mit à laver les pieds des disciples, et à les essuyer avec la serviette dont il était ceint.

 5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

6 Puis il vient à Simon Pierre: et Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, laves-tu mes pieds?

 6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

7 Jésus répondit et lui dit: Ce que je fais tu ne le sais pas maintenant; mais tu le sauras plus tard.

 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

8 Pierre lui dit: Tu ne laveras jamais mes pieds. Jésus lui répondit: Si je ne te lave, tu n’as aucune part avec moi.

 8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

9 Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, pas seulement mes pieds, mais aussi mes mains et ma tête.

 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

10 Jésus lui dit: Celui qui est lavé n’a besoin que de laver ses pieds, mais il est entièrement rendu net: et vous êtes rendus nets, mais pas tous.

 10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

11 Car il savait qui devait le trahir; par conséquent il dit: Vous n’êtes pas tous nets.

 11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

12 Ainsi après qu’il eut lavé leurs pieds et eut pris ses habits, et s’assit de nouveau, il leur dit: Savez-vous ce que je vous ai fait?

 12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

13 Vous m’appelez Maître et Seigneur: et vous dites bien; car je le suis.

 13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

14 Alors si moi, votre Seigneur et Maître, ai lavé vos pieds; vous aussi devez vous laver les pieds les uns des autres.

 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

15 Car je vous ai donné un exemple, afin que vous fassiez comme je vous ai fait.

 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

16 En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis: Le serviteur n’est pas plus grand que son seigneur; ni non plus celui qui est envoyé plus grand que celui qui l’a envoyé.

 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

17 Si vous savez ces choses, heureux êtes-vous si vous les faites.

 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

18 ¶ Je ne parle pas de vous tous: je sais qui j’ai choisi: mais afin que l’écriture puisse être réalisée, Celui qui mange du pain avec moi a levé son talon contre moi.

 18 ¶ I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

19 Or je vous le dis maintenant avant que cela arrive, afin que, quand ce sera arrivé, vous puissiez croire que je suis celui-là.

 19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

20 En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis: Celui qui reçoit quiconque j’envoie, me reçoit; et celui qui me reçoit, reçoit celui qui m’a envoyé.

 20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

21 Lorsque Jésus eut ainsi parlé, il fut troublé en esprit, et témoigna et dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis que l’un de vous me trahira.

 21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

22 Alors les disciples se regardaient l’un l’autre, se demandant de qui il parlait.

 22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

23 Or il y avait un de ses disciples, que Jésus aimait, appuyé contre la poitrine de Jésus.

 23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Pierre donc lui fit signe, afin qu’il demande qui était celui dont il parlait.

 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

25 Lui donc, étant couché sur la poitrine de Jésus lui dit: Seigneur, qui est-ce?

 25 He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

26 Jésus répondit: C’est celui à qui je donnerai un morceau, après que je l’aurai trempé. Et lorsqu’il eut trempé le morceau, il le donna à Judas Iscariot, le fils de Simon.

 26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

27 Et après le morceau, Satan entra en lui. Alors Jésus lui dit: Ce que tu fais, fais-le rapidement.

 27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

28 Or aucun homme à table ne comprit pour quelle raison il lui avait dit cela.

 28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

29 Car quelques-uns d’entre eux pensaient, parce que Judas avait la bourse, que Jésus lui avait dit: Achète ces choses dont nous avons besoin pour la fête; ou, qu’il devait donner quelque chose aux pauvres.

 29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

30 Lui ayant alors reçu le morceau sortit immédiatement: et c’était la nuit.

 30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

31 ¶ Par conséquent, lorsqu’il fut sorti, Jésus dit: Maintenant le Fils de l’homme est glorifié, et Dieu est glorifié en lui.

 31 ¶ Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

32 Si Dieu est glorifié en lui, Dieu le glorifiera aussi en lui-même, et le glorifiera aussitôt.

 32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

33 Petits enfants, je suis encore un petit moment avec vous. Vous me chercherez: et, comme j’ai dit aux Juifs, Là où je vais, vous ne pouvez venir; ainsi maintenant je vous le dis.

 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

34 Je vous donne un nouveau commandement, Que vous vous aimiez l’un l’autre; comme je vous ai aimés, que vous aussi vous vous aimiez l’un l’autre.

 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 Par ceci tous les hommes sauront que vous êtes mes disciples, si vous avez de l’amour l’un pour l’autre.

 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

36 ¶ Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, où vas-tu? Jésus lui répondit: Où je vais, tu ne peux me suivre maintenant; mais tu me suivras plus tard.

 36 ¶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

37 Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, pourquoi ne puis-je pas te suivre maintenant? Je donnerai ma vie pour toi.

 37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

38 Jésus lui répondit: Donneras-tu ta vie pour moi? En vérité, en vérité, je te dis: Le coq ne chantera pas, avant que tu ne m’aies renié trois fois.

 38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
