1 Et les enfants d'Israël firent de nouveau ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR, quand Ehud mourut.

 1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.

2 Et le SEIGNEUR les vendit en la main de Jabin, roi de Canaan, qui régnait à Hazor (Hatsor) ; le capitaine de son armée était )isera, qui demeurait à Harosheth des Gentils.

 2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

3 Et les enfants d'Israël crièrent au SEIGNEUR ; car il (Jabin) avait neuf cents chariots de fer, et il opprima fortement les enfants d'Israël pendant vingt ans.

 3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

4 ¶ Et Deborah (Débora), une prophétesse, la femme de Lappidoth, jugeait Israël en ce temps-là.

 4 ¶ And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

5 Et elle demeurait sous le palmier de Deborah (Débora), entre Ramah et Bethel au mont Ephraim (Éphraïm) ; et les enfants d'Israël montaient vers elle pour recevoir jugement.

 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

6 Et elle envoya, et appela Barak, le fils d'Abinoam, de Kedesh de Naphtali (Nephtali), et lui dit : Le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, n'a-t-il pas commandé, disant : Va, et approche-toi vers le mont Tabor, et prends avec toi dix mille hommes des enfants de Naphtali (Nephtali) et des enfants de Zebulon ?

 6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

7 Et j'attirerai vers toi, à la rivière Kishon (Kison), Sisera, le capitaine de l’armée de Jabin, avec ses chariots, et sa multitude, et je le livrerai en ta main.

 7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

8 Et Barak lui dit : Si tu vas avec moi, alors j'irai ; mais si tu ne vas avec moi, je n'irai pas.

 8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

9 Et elle dit : J'irai certainement avec toi ; en dépit du chemin que tu prends ce ne sera pas à ton honneur, car le SEIGNEUR vendra Sisera en la main d'une femme. Et Deborah (Débora), se leva et s'en alla avec Barak à Kedesh.

 9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

10 ¶ Et Barak rassembla Zebulon et Naphtali (Nephtali) à Kedesh ; il monta avec dix mille hommes à sa suite, et Deborah (Débora) monta avec lui.

 10 ¶ And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

11 Or Heber, le Kenite ( Kénien), qui était un des enfants de Hobab, beau-père de Moïse s'était séparé des Kenite ( Kénien)s, et avait dressé sa tente jusqu'à la plaine de Zaanaim, qui est près de Kedesh.

 11 Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

12 Et on rapporta à Sisera que Barak, fils d'Abinoam, était monté sur le mont Tabor.

 12 And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.

13 Et Sisera rassembla tous ses chariots, neuf cents chariots de fer, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui, depuis Harosheth des Gentils, jusqu’à la rivière de Kishon.

 13 And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

14 Et Deborah (Débora) dit à Barak : Lève-toi, car c'est le jour où le SEIGNEUR a livré Sisera en ta main. Le SEIGNEUR n'est-il pas allé devant toi ? Et Barak descendit du mont Tabor, et dix mille hommes après lui.

 14 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

15 Et le SEIGNEUR mit en déroute Sisera, et tous ses chariots, et toute son armée, par le tranchant de l’épée, devant Barak ; tellement que Sisera descendit de son chariot, et s'enfuit à pied.

 15 And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

16 Mais Barak poursuivit les chariots et l’armée jusqu'à Harosheth des Gentils ; et toute l’armée de Sisera tomba sous le tranchant de l’épée et il ne resta pas un seul homme.

 16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

17 Néanmoins Sisera s'enfuit à pied vers la tente de Jael, la femme de Heber, le Kenite (Kénien) ; car il y avait paix entre Jabin le roi de Hazor (Hatsor), et la maison de Heber, le Kenite (Kénien).

 17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.

18 ¶Et Jael sortit à la rencontre de Sisera, et lui dit : Entre, mon seigneur, entre chez moi, ne crains pas. Et lorsqu’il entra chez elle dans la tente, elle le couvrit d'une couverture.

 18 ¶ And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.

19 Et il lui dit : Je te prie, donne-moi un peu d'eau à boire, car j'ai soif. Et elle ouvrit une bouteille de lait et lui donna à boire, et le couvrit.

 19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.

20 Et il lui dit encore : Tiens-toi à l’entrée de la tente, et s'il arrive que quelqu’un vienne et t'interroge et dise : Y a-t-il un homme ici tu diras : Non.

 20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.

21 Alors Jael, la femme de Heber, prit un pieu de la tente, et prit un marteau dans sa main, et vint vers lui doucement, et lui enfonça le pieu dans la tempe, lequel s’enfonça dans la terre ; car il dormait profondément et était fatigué. Ainsi il mourut.

 21 Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

22 Et voici alors que Barak poursuivait Sisera, Jael sortit à sa rencontre, et lui dit : Viens, et je te montrerai l’homme que tu cherches. Et lorsqu’il entra dans sa tente, voici, Sisera gisait mort, et le pieu était dans sa tempe.

 22 And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.

23 En ce jour-là donc, Dieu assujettit Jabin le roi de Canaan devant les enfants d'Israël.

 23 So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.

24 Et la main des enfants d'Israël prospérait et prévalut contre Jabin le roi de Canaan, jusqu'à ce qu'ils eurent exterminé Jabin, roi de Canaan.

 24 And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
