1 Alors Deborah (Débora) et Barak, fils d'Abinoam chantèrent ce jour-là, disant :

 1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

2 Bénissez le SEIGNEUR de ce qu’il a vengé Israël, lorsque le peuple s’est offert volontairement,

 2 Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

3 Vous, ô rois, entendez, vous ô princes, prêtez l’oreille Moi, moi, je chanterai au SEIGNEUR ; je chanterai des louanges au SEIGNEUR Dieu d'Israël.

 3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

4 SEIGNEUR, quand tu sortis de Seir, quand tu marchas du champ d'Edom, la terre trembla, et les cieux se fondirent, et les nuages aussi se fondirent en eaux.

 4 LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

5 Les montagnes fondaient devant le SEIGNEUR, même ce Sinaï, devant le SEIGNEUR Dieu d'Israël.

 5 The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.

6 Aux jours de Shamgar, fils d'Anath, aux jours de Jael, les grandes routes étaient abandonnées, et les voyageurs prenaient des chemins détournés ;

 6 In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

7 Les habitants des villages avaient disparu, ils avaient disparu en Israël, jusqu'à ce que, moi Deborah (Débora) je me sois levée, que je me sois levée, comme une mère en Israël.

 7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

8 Ils ont choisi de nouveaux dieux, alors la guerre était aux portes a-t-il été vu un bouclier ou une lance parmi quarante milliers en Israël ?

 8 They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

9 Mon cœur se tourne vers les gouverneurs d'Israël qui se sont offerts volontairement parmi le peuple. Bénissez le SEIGNEUR.

 9 My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD.

10 Parlez, vous qui montez des ânesses blanches, vous qui siégez en jugement, et qui marchez le long des chemins.

 10 Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

11 Ceux qui sont délivrés du bruit des archers dans les lieux où l’on puise l’eau, là ils répètent les justes actes du SEIGNEUR, les justes actes envers les habitants de ses villages en Israël. Alors le peuple du SEIGNEUR descendra aux portes.

 11 They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

12 Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Deborah (Débora) réveille-toi, réveille-toi, prononce un cantique ; lève-toi, Barak, et emmène captive ta captivité, toi fils d'Abinoam.

 12 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

13 Alors il a fait dominer ceux qui restent sur les nobles parmi le peuple ; le SEIGNEUR m’a fait dominer sur les puissants.

 13 Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.

14 D'Ephraim (Éphraïm) était venue une racine jusqu’à Amalek ; après toi Benjamin, parmi ton peuple ; de Machir (Makir) sont descendus les gouverneurs, et de Zebulon ceux qui manient la plume de l’écrivain.

 14 Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.

15 Et les princes d'Issachar (Issacar) ont été avec Deborah (Débora), même Issachar, et aussi Barak ; il a été envoyé à pieds dans la vallée. Concernant les divisions de Reuben (Ruben), il y eut de grandes pensées du cœur.

 15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

16 Pourquoi es-tu resté parmi les bergeries, à écouter le bêlement des troupeaux ? Concernant les divisions de Reuben (Ruben), il y eut de grandes délibérations de cœur.

 16 Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

17 est resté au-delà du Jourdain, et pourquoi Dan est-il demeuré sur les navires ? Asher (Asser) persista au bord de la mer, et est resté dans ses havres.

 17 Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

18 Zebulon et Naphtali (Nephtali) étaient un peuple qui a exposé sa vie à la mort, sur les hauteurs des champs.

 18 Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

19 Les rois sont venus, et ont combattu, puis ils ont combattu les rois de Canaan à Taanach (Thaanac), près des eaux de Megido (Méguiddo) ; ils n’ont retiré aucun gain d'argent.

 19 The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20 On a combattu depuis le ciel ; de leurs cours les étoiles ont combattu contre Sisera.

 20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

21 La rivière de Kishon (Kison) les a emportés, cette ancienne rivière, la rivière Kishon. Ô mon âme, tu as piétiné la vigueur.

 21 The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

22 Alors les sabots des chevaux se rompirent en les faisant se cabrer, en cabrant leurs puissants chevaux.

 22 Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

23 Maudissez Meroz, dit l’ange du SEIGNEUR ; maudissez avec acharnement ses habitants, car ils ne sont pas venus au secours du SEIGNEUR, au secours du SEIGNEUR, contre les hommes puissants.

 23 Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

24 Bénie soit, au-dessus des femmes, Jael la femme de Heber, le Kenite ( Kénien), bénie sera-t-elle au-dessus des femmes qui se tiennent dans les tentes.

 24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

25 Il a demandé de l’eau, elle lui a donné du lait ; elle lui a présenté du beurre dans un plat digne d’un seigneur.

 25 He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

26 Elle a pris avec sa main le pieu, et avec sa main droite le marteau des ouvriers ; elle a frappé Sisera, elle lui a fendu la tête, elle lui a transpercé et fracassé ses tempes.

 26 She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

27 À ses pieds il se courba, il est tombé, il s'est étendu par terre ; à ses pieds il se courba, il est tombé ; là où il se courba, là il est tombé sans vie.

 27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

28 La mère de Sisera regarde par la fenêtre, et s'écrie à travers le treillis : Pourquoi son chariot tarde-t-il à venir ? Pourquoi les roues de ses chariots sont-elles si lentes ?

 28 The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

29 Les sages d'entre ses femmes lui ont répondu ; oui, elle s'est répondue à elle-même.

 29 Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,

30 N'ont-ils pas réussi ? n'ont-ils pas partagé la proie ; à chaque homme une jeune fille, ou deux ; à Sisera un butin de (vêtements) de diverses couleurs, un butin de diverses couleurs de broderie sur les deux côtés, convenables pour le cou de ceux qui prennent le butin ?

 30 Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?

31 Qu'ainsi périssent tous tes ennemis, ô SEIGNEUR, mais que ceux qui l’aiment soient comme le soleil quand il sort dans sa puissance. Et le pays fut en repos quarante ans.

 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
