1 ¶ Et il arriva qu’en la quatre cent quatre-vingtième année après que les enfants d’Israël furent sortis du pays d’Égypte, en la quatrième année du règne de Salomon sur Israël, au mois de Zif, qui est le second mois, il commença de bâtir la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

2 Et la maison que le roi Salomon bâtit au SEIGNEUR, était de soixante coudées de longueur, et sa largeur de vingt coudées, et sa hauteur de trente coudées.

 2 And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

3 Et le porche, devant le temple de la maison, était de vingt coudées de longueur, selon la largeur de la maison, et sa largeur était de dix coudées devant la maison.

 3 And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

4 Et il fit à la maison des fenêtres à châssis étroits.

 4 And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

5 Et contre le mur de la maison, il bâtit des chambres tout autour, contre les murs de la maison tout autour du temple et de l’oracle ; ainsi il fit des chambres tout autour.

 5 ¶ And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

6 La galerie la plus basse était large de cinq coudées et celle du milieu était large de six coudées, et la troisième était large de sept coudées ; car à l’extérieur il avait fait des rétrécissements dans le mur de la maison tout autour, afin que les poutres ne soient pas attachées aux murs de la maison.

 6 The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

7 Et la maison, quand on la bâtit, fut bâtie de pierres préparées avant d’être amenées là ; si bien que ni marteau, ni hache, ni aucun outil de fer ne furent entendus dans la maison tandis qu’elle était bâtie.

 7 And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

8 L’entrée de la galerie du milieu était du côté droit de la maison ; et on montait par un escalier tournant à la galerie du milieu, et de celle du milieu à la troisième.

 8 The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.

9 Ainsi il bâtit la maison et l’acheva ; et il couvrit la maison de poutres et de planches de cèdre.

 9 So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

10 Et ensuite il bâtit les galeries joignant toute la maison, de cinq coudées de haut ; et elles s’appuyaient à la maison par des bois de cèdre.

 10 And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

11 ¶ Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Salomon, en disant :

 11 ¶ And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying,

12 Quant à cette maison que tu es en train de bâtir, si tu marches dans mes statuts, et que tu exécutes mes jugements, et que tu gardes tous mes commandements pour y marcher, alors j’accomplirai à ton égard la parole que j’ai dite à David ton père ;

 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

13 Et je demeurerai au milieu des enfants d’Israël, et n’abandonnerai pas mon peuple Israël.

 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14 Ainsi Salomon bâtit la maison et l’acheva.

 14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

15 ¶ Et il bâtit les murs de la maison, à l’intérieur avec des planches de cèdre, le sol de la maison ainsi que les murs du plafond ; et il couvrit de bois tout l’intérieur, et il couvrit le sol de la maison de planches de sapin.

 15 And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.

16 Et il lambrissa de vingt coudées de planches de cèdre les côtés de la maison, ainsi que sur le sol et les murs ; il les recouvrit à l’intérieur, à savoir pour l’oracle, à savoir pour le lieu très-saint.

 16 And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.

17 Et la maison, qui est le temple devant lu, était de quarante coudées de long.

 17 And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.

18 Et le cèdre à l’intérieur de la maison, était sculpté de pommeaux et de fleurs épanouies ; tout était de cèdre ; aucune pierre ne se voyait.

 18 And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

19 Et il prépara l’oracle à l’intérieur de la maison vers le fond, pour y mettre l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR.

 19 And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

20 Et l’oracle était à l’avant de vingt coudées en longueur, et de vingt coudées en largeur et de vingt coudées en hauteur ; et il le recouvrit d’or pur ; et il en couvrit aussi l’autel, qui était de cèdre.

 20 And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar.

21 Et Salomon recouvrit d’or pur l’intérieur de la maison ; et il fit une cloison avec des chaînes d’or devant l’oracle, et il le recouvrit d’or.

 21 So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.

22 Et il recouvrit d’or la maison tout entière, jusqu’à ce qu’il eut terminé toute la maison ; il recouvrit aussi d’or tout l’autel qui était près de l’oracle.

 22 And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23 Et il fit dans l’oracle deux chérubins de bois d’olivier, de dix coudées de haut chacun.

 23 ¶ And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high.

24 Et l’une des ailes d’un des chérubins était de cinq coudées, et l’autre aile du chérubin de cinq coudées ; depuis le bout d’une aile jusqu’au bout de l’autre aile, il y avait dix coudées.

 24 And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

25 Et l’autre chérubin était de dix coudées ; les deux chérubins étaient d’une même mesure et de même façon.

 25 And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size.

26 La hauteur d’un chérubin était de dix coudées, et de même était l’autre chérubin.

 26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.

27 Et il mit les chérubins au-dedans de la maison intérieure ; et il étendit les ailes des chérubins, de sorte que l’aile de l’un touchait un mur et l’aile de l’autre chérubin touchait l’autre mur ; et leurs ailes se touchaient l’une l’autre au milieu de la maison.

 27 And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

28 Et il recouvrit d’or les chérubins.

 28 And he overlaid the cherubims with gold.

29 Et il sculpta tous les murs de la maison, tout autour, de figures sculptées de chérubins, et de palmiers, et de fleurs épanouies, à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur.

 29 And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.

30 Et il recouvrit d’or le sol de la maison, à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur.

 30 And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

31 Et pour l’entrée de l’oracle, il fit des portes de bois d’olivier ; le linteau et les montants occupaient une cinquième partie de la paroi.

31 ¶ And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.

32 Les deux battants aussi étaient de bois d’olivier ; et il sculpta dessus des moulures de chérubins, de palmiers et de fleurs épanouies, et il les couvrit d’or, et répandit l’or sur les chérubins et sur les palmiers.

 32 The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.

33 Il fit aussi pour la porte du temple des montants de bois d’olivier, d’un quart de la paroi ;

33 So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.

34 Et les deux portes étaient de bois de sapin ; les deux battants d’une porte se rabattaient, et les deux battants de l’autre porte se rabattaient.

 34 And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

35 Et il sculpta dessus des chérubins et des palmiers et des fleurs épanouies, et il les couvrit avec l’or approprié sur l’ouvrage sculpté.

 35 And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

36 Et il bâtit la cour intérieure de trois rangées de pierres de taille et d’une rangée de poutres de cèdre.

 36 ¶ And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37 En la quatrième année, au mois de Zif, la fondation de la maison du SEIGNEUR fut posée ;

 37 ¶ In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:

38 Et en la onzième année, au mois de Bul, qui est le huitième mois, la maison fut achevée de toutes parts et selon tout son agencement. Ainsi il mit sept ans à la bâtir.

 38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
