1 ¶ En ce temps-là, Abijah, le fils de Jeroboam, tomba malade.

 1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2 Et Jeroboam dit à sa femme : Lève-toi, je te prie, et déguise-toi, en sorte qu’on ne sache pas que tu es la femme de Jeroboam, et va-t’en à Shiloh (Silo) ; voici, Ahijah, le prophète y est ; lequel m’a dit que je serais roi sur ce peuple.

 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

3 Et prends avec toi dix pains, et des craquelins, et une cruche de miel, et va chez lui ; il te dira ce qui doit arriver à l’enfant.

 3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

4 Et la femme de Jeroboam fit ainsi, et elle se leva, et alla à Shiloh (Silo), et elle arriva à la maison d’Ahijah. Mais Ahijah ne pouvait voir, car ses yeux étaient obscurcis, à cause de son âge.

 4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 Et le SEIGNEUR avait dit à Ahijah : Voici la femme de Jeroboam vient te demander une chose concernant son fils, car il est malade tu lui diras ainsi et ainsi, et il arrivera, quand elle entrera, elle feindra d’être une autre femme.

 5 ¶ And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

6 Et il fut ainsi, quand Ahijah entendit le bruit de ses pas, comme elle entrait par la porte, il dit : Entre, toi, femme de Jeroboam ; pourquoi feins-tu d’être une autre ? Car je suis envoyé vers toi avec de pesantes nouvelles.

 6 And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

7 ¶ Va, dis à Jeroboam : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël : Puisque je t’ai élevé d’entre le peuple et que je t’ai fait prince sur mon peuple Israël ;

 7 Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

8 Et que j’ai déchiré le royaume de la maison de David, et te l’ai donné ; et cependant tu n’as pas été comme mon serviteur David, qui a gardé mes commandements et qui m’a suivi de tout son cœur, pour faire seulement ce qui était droit à mes yeux ;

 8 And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;

9 Mais que tu as fait plus mal que tous ceux qui ont été avant toi ; car tu es allé et t’es fait d’autres dieux et des images de fonte, pour me provoquer au courroux, et tu m’as rejeté derrière ton dos ;

 9 But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

10 C’est pourquoi, voici, je vais faire venir du mal sur la maison de Jeroboam, et je retrancherai de Jeroboam jusqu’à celui qui urine contre le mur, et celui qui est sous les verrous et abandonné en Israël ; et je retirerai le reste de la maison de Jeroboam comme on retire le fumier, jusqu’à ce qu’il n’en reste plus rien.

 10 Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

11 Celui de la maison de Jeroboam qui mourra dans la ville, les chiens le mangeront ; et celui qui mourra dans les champs sera mangé par les oiseaux en l’air ; car le SEIGNEUR l’a prononcé.

 11 Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.

12 Toi donc, lève-toi et va dans ta maison ; et quand tes pieds entreront dans la ville, l’enfant mourra.

 12 Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 Et tout Israël mènera deuil sur lui et l’enterrera ; car lui seulement, de la maison de Jeroboam, entrera dans la tombe, parce qu’en lui on a trouvé quelque chose de bon envers le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, dans la maison de Jeroboam.

 13 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14 De plus le SEIGNEUR se suscitera un roi sur Israël, qui retranchera la maison de Jeroboam ce jour-là ; Mais quoi ? Même maintenant.

 14 Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.

15 Car le SEIGNEUR frappera Israël, comme quand le roseau est agité dans l’eau ; et il déracinera Israël de dessus cette bonne terre qu’il donna à leurs pères ; et il les dispersera au-delà de la rivière, parce qu’ils se sont fait des bosquets (bocages) provocant le SEIGNEUR au courroux.

 15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

16 Et il abandonnera Israël, à cause des péchés de Jeroboam, par lesquels il a péché et qu’il a fait pécher Israël.

 16 And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

17 Et la femme de Jeroboam se leva et s’en alla, et vint à Tirzah ; et quand elle arriva au seuil de la porte, l’enfant mourut ;

 17 ¶ And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;

18 Et on l’enterra, et tout Israël mena deuil sur lui, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR, laquelle il avait prononcée par la main de son serviteur Ahijah, le prophète.

 18 And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Et quant au reste des actions de Jeroboam, comment il fit la guerre et comment il régna, voici, elles sont écrites dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël.

 19 And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 Et les jours que Jeroboam régna furent de vingt-deux années ; et il s’endormit avec ses pères, et Nadab son fils régna à sa place.

 20 And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

21 ¶ Et Roboam, le fils de Salomon, régna en Judah. Roboam était âgé de quarante et un ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que le SEIGNEUR avait choisie d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, pour y mettre son nom. Et le nom de sa mère était Naamah, une Ammonite.

 21 ¶ And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

22 Et Judah fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR ; et ils le provoquèrent à la jalousie par leurs péchés qu’ils commirent, plus que leurs pères n’avaient jamais fait.

 22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 Car ils se bâtirent aussi des hauts lieux, et des statues et des bosquets, sur toute haute colline et sous tout arbre vert.

 23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

24 Et il y avait aussi des sodomites dans le pays ; et ils firent selon toutes les abominations des nations que le SEIGNEUR avait chassées devant les enfants d’Israël.

 24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

25 Et il arriva en la cinquième année du roi Roboam, que Shishak, roi d’Égypte, monta contre Jérusalem ;

 25 ¶ And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:

26 Et il prit les trésors de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et les trésors de la maison du roi ; il prit tout ; et il prit aussi tous les boucliers d’or que Salomon avait faits.

 26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 Et le roi Roboam fit à leur place des boucliers de cuivre, et les confia aux mains des chefs de la garde, qui gardaient la porte de la maison du roi.

 27 And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king’s house.

28 Et, il était ainsi, quand le roi entrait dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, les gardes les portaient, et les rapportaient dans la chambre des gardes.

 28 And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

29 Quant au reste des actions de Roboam et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah ?

 29 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Et il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jeroboam durant tous leurs jours.

 30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31 Et Roboam s’endormit avec ses pères et fut enterré avec ses pères dans la cité de David. Et le nom de sa mère était Naamah, une Ammonite. Et Abijam, son fils, régna à sa place.

 31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.
