1 ¶ Or durant la dix-huitième année du roi Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat, Abijam régnait sur Judah.

 1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

2 Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Maachah, la fille d’Abishalom.

 2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

3 Et il marcha dans tous les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui ; et son cœur ne fut pas parfait avec le SEIGNEUR son Dieu, comme le cœur de David, son père.

 3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

4 Néanmoins pour l’amour de David, le SEIGNEUR son Dieu lui donna une lampe dans Jérusalem, il installa son fils après lui et affermit Jérusalem ;

 4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

5 Parce que David avait fait ce qui était droit aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, et ne s’était détourné de rien de tout ce qu’il lui avait commandé, pendant tous les jours de sa vie, excepté dans l’affaire d’Uriah (Urie), le Hittite.

 5 Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6 Et il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jeroboam, tous les jours de sa vie.

 6 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 Or le reste des actions d’Abijam et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah ? Et il y eut guerre entre Abijam et Jeroboam.

 7 Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 Et Abijam s’endormit avec ses pères, et on l’enterra dans la cité de David ; et Asa, son fils régna à sa place.

 8 And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

9 ¶ Et en la vingtième année de Jeroboam, roi d’Israël, Asa commença à régner sur Judah ;

 9 ¶ And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

10 Et il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Maachah, la fille d’Abishalom.

 10 And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

11 Et Asa fit ce qui était droit aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, comme avait fait David, son père.

 11 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

12 Et il retira du pays les sodomites, et il ôta toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient faites.

 12 And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13 Et même il ôta Maachah, sa mère, de sa position de reine, parce qu’elle avait fait une idole d’un bosquet ; et Asa détruisit son idole et la brûla près du torrent Kidron.

 13 And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

14 Mais les hauts lieux ne furent pas ôtés ; néanmoins, le cœur d’Asa fut parfait avec le SEIGNEUR tous ses jours,

 14 But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

15 Et il remit dans la maison du SEIGNEUR les choses que son père avait consacrées, et les choses que lui-même avait consacrées, l’argent, et l’or et les ustensiles.

 15 And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 Et il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasha, roi d’Israël, tous leurs jours.

 16 ¶ And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

17 Et Baasha, roi d’Israël monta contre Judah, et il bâtit Ramah, afin qu’il ne laisse personne sortir ni entrer de chez Asa, roi de Judah.

 17 And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18 Alors Asa prit tout l’argent et l’or qui étaient restés dans les trésors du SEIGNEUR et les trésors de la maison du roi, et les remit en la main de ses serviteurs ; et le roi Asa les envoya vers Benhadad, le fils de Tabrimon, fils de Hezion, roi de Syrie, qui demeurait à Damas, disant :

 18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

19 Il y a une alliance entre moi et toi, et entre mon père et ton père ; voici je t’envoie un présent en argent et en or ; va, romps ton alliance avec Baasha, roi d’Israël, afin qu’il se retire de moi.

 19 There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

20 Et Benhadad écouta le roi Asa, et il envoya les capitaines de ses armées qu’il avait contre les villes d’Israël, et frappa Ijon, Dan, et Abelbethmaachah et tout Cinneroth, ainsi que tout le pays de Naphthali.

 20 So Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelbethmaachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21 Et il arriva quand Baasha l’apprit, qu’il abandonna la construction de Ramah, et il demeura à Tirzah.

 21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

22 Alors le roi Asa fit une proclamation à travers tout Judah, tous, personne n’était exempté, et ils emportèrent les pierres de Ramah, et son bois avec lequel Baasha faisait bâtir ; et le roi Asa en bâtit Geba de Benjamin, et Mizpah (Mizpeh).

 22 Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 Et le reste des actions d’Asa et tous ses exploits, et tout ce qu’il fit, et les villes qu’il bâtit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans livre des chroniques des rois de Judah ? Néanmoins, au temps de sa vieillesse, il fut malade de ses pieds.

 23 The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 Et Asa s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec eux dans la cité de David, son père ; et Jehoshaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.

 24 And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

25 ¶ Et Nadab, le fils de Jeroboam, commença à régner sur Israël en la seconde année d’Asa, roi de Judah, et il régna deux ans sur Israël.

 25 ¶ And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

26 Il fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR ; et il marcha dans le chemin de son père et dans son péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.

 26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

27 Et Baasha, le fils d’Ahijah, de la maison d’Issachar, conspira contre lui, et Baasha le frappa à Gibbethon lequel appartenait aux Philistins, car Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Gibbethon.

 27 ¶ And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

28 Et même, en la troisième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Baasha le tua, et régna à sa place.

 28 Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

29 Et il arriva, pendant qu’il régna, qu’il frappa toute la maison de Jeroboam ; il ne laissa à Jeroboam nul qui respire, jusqu’à ce qu’il l’ait détruit, selon le propos du SEIGNEUR, lequel il avait prononcé par son serviteur Ahijah, le Shilonite,

 29 And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

30 À cause des péchés de Jeroboam, par lesquels il avait péché, et par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël, par sa provocation par laquelle il provoqua le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël au courroux.

 30 Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

31 Or le reste des actions de Nadab, et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël ?

 31 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Et il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasha, roi d’Israël, tous leurs jours.

 32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 La troisième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Baasha, le fils d’Ahijah, commença à régner sur tout Israël, à Tirzah ; vingt-quatre ans.

 33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

34 Et il fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR ; et il marcha dans le chemin de Jeroboam et dans le péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.

 34 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
