1 ¶ Puis la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jehu, le fils de Hanani, contre Baasha, disant :

 1 Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

2 Puisque je t’ai élevé de la poussière et que je t’ai fait prince sur mon peuple Israël, et que tu as marché dans le chemin de Jeroboam, et que tu as fait pécher mon peuple Israël, pour me provoquer au courroux par leurs péchés,

 2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

3 Voici, je retirerai la postérité de Baasha et la postérité de sa maison ; et je rendrai ta maison semblable à la maison de Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat.

 3 Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

4 Celui de la maison de Baasha qui mourra dans la ville, les chiens le mangeront ; et celui des siens qui mourra dans les champs, sera mangé par les oiseaux en l’air.

 4 Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat.

5 Or le reste des actions de Baasha, et ce qu’il fit et ses exploits, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël ?

 5 Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

6 Ainsi Baasha s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Tirzah ; et Elah, son fils, régna à sa place.

 6 So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

7 Et aussi, par la main du prophète Jehu, le fils de Hanani, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint contre Baasha et contre sa maison, à cause de tout le mal qu’il avait fait à la vue du SEIGNEUR, en le provocant au courroux par l’œuvre de ses mains et en devenant comme la maison de Jeroboam, parce qu’il l’avait tué.

 7 And also by the hand of the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of the LORD, in provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he killed him.

8 En la vingt-sixième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Elah, le fils de Baasha commença à régner sur Israël à Tirzah, il régna deux ans.

 8 ¶ In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.

9 Et son serviteur Zimri, capitaine de la moitié de ses chariots, conspira contre lui, lorsqu’il était à Tirzah, buvant et s’enivrant dans la maison d’Arza, le maître d’hôtel de sa maison à Tirzah.

 9 And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.

10 Et Zimri entra, le frappa et le tua, la vingt-septième année d’Asa, roi de Judah ; et il régna à sa place.

 10 And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

11 Et il arriva, lorsqu’il commença de régner, aussitôt qu’il fut assis sur son trône, il tua toute la maison de Baasha ; il n’en laissa pas un qui urine contre le mur, ni de sa parenté ni de ses amis.

 11 ¶ And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

12 Ainsi Zimri détruisit toute la maison de Baasha, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR, qu’il prononça contre Baasha, par Jehu, le prophète ;

 12 Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,

13 À cause de tous les péchés de Baasha et des péchés d’Elah, son fils, par lesquels ils avaient péché et par lesquels ils avaient fait pécher Israël, provocant au courroux le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

 13 For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

14 Et le reste des actions d’Elah, et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël ?

 14 Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15 ¶ En la vingt-septième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Zimri régna sept jours à Tirzah. Et le peuple était campé contre Gibbethon qui appartenait aux Philistins.

 15 ¶ In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. And the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

16 Et le peuple qui était campé là entendit dire Zimri a conspiré, et il a aussi tué le roi ; c’est pourquoi en ce même jour, dans le camp, tout Israël établit Omri, capitaine de l’armée, roi sur Israël.

 16 And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.

17 Et Omri et tout Israël avec lui montèrent de Gibbethon, et ils assiégèrent Tirzah.

 17 And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

18 Et il arriva, quand Zimri vit que la ville était prise, il entra au palais de la maison du roi, et il brûla sur lui la maison du roi, et mourut,

 18 And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king’s house, and burnt the king’s house over him with fire, and died,

19 À cause de ses péchés par lesquels il avait péché en faisant ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR, en marchant dans le chemin de Jeroboam et en son péché qu’il fit pour faire pécher Israël.

 19 For his sins which he sinned in doing evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.

20 Et le reste des actions de Zimri, et sa trahison qu’il échafauda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël ?

 20 Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

21 Alors le peuple d’Israël se divisa en deux parties la moitié du peuple suivit Tibni, le fils de Ginath, pour le faire roi, et l’autre moitié suivit Omri.

 21 ¶ Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri.

22 Mais le peuple qui suivit Omri prévalu sur le peuple qui suivit Tibni, le fils de Ginath ; et Tibni mourut, et Omri régna.

 22 But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

23 En la trente et unième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Omri commença à régner sur Israël,il régna douze ans ; il régna six ans àTirzah.

 23 ¶ In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

24 Puis il acheta de Semer la colline Samarie, pour deux talents d’argent ; et il bâtit sur la colline, et appela le nom de la ville qu’il bâtit Samarie, du nom de Semer, propriétaire de la colline.

 24 And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.

25 Mais Omri fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR ; il fit pis que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

 25 ¶ But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.

26 Car il marcha dans tout le chemin de Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat, et en son péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël, provocant au courroux le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

 26 For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

27 Et le reste des actions d’Omri qu’il fit et sa puissance qu’il exerça, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël ?

 27 Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he shewed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

28 Et Omri s’endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré à Samarie ; et Ahab, son fils, régna à sa place.

 28 So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria: and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.

29 ¶ Et en la trente-huitième année d’Asa, roi de Judah, Ahab, le fils d’Omri, commença à régner sur Israël ; et Ahab, le fils d’Omri, régna sur Israël, à Samarie, vingt-deux ans.

 29 ¶ And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.

30 Et Ahab, le fils d’Omri, fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR, plus que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

 30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.

31 Et il arriva que, comme si cela avait été une chose légère pour lui de marcher dans les péchés de Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat, il prit pour femme Jezebel (Jézabel), la fille d’Ethbaal, roi des Sidoniens ; et il alla et servit Baal, et l’adora.

 31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

32 Et il dressa un autel à Baal dans la maison de Baal, qu’il bâtit à Samarie.

 32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

33 Et Ahab fit un bosquet ; et Ahab fit plus encore pour provoquer au courroux le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, que tous les rois d’Israël qui avaient été avant lui.

 33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

34 Pendant ses jours, Hiel le Bethelite bâtit Jéricho ; il en posa la fondation sur Abiram, son premier-né, et il en plaça ses portes sur son plus jeune fils, Segub, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR laquelle il avait proférée par Joshua (Josué), le fils de Nun.

 34 ¶ In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
