1 En ces jours-là, Hezekiah (Ézéchias) fut malade à la mort. Et le prophète Isaiah (Ésaïe), le fils d’Amoz, (Amots) vint vers lui, et lui dit : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Mets ordre à ta maison ; car tu vas mourir, et tu ne vivras plus.

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
|
2 Alors il tourna son visage contre le mur, et pria le SEIGNEUR, disant :
|
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
|
3 Je te supplie, ô SEIGNEUR, souviens-toi maintenant comment j’ai marché devant toi en vérité et avec un cœur parfait, et que j’ai fait ce qui est bon à ta vue. Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) pleura abondamment.
|
3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
|
4 Et il arriva qu’Isaiah (Ésaïe) n’étant pas encore sorti de la cour du milieu, que la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à lui, disant :
|
4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
|
5 Retourne, et dis à Hezekiah, le capitaine de mon peuple : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Dieu de David, ton père : J’ai entendu ta prière ; j’ai vu tes larmes voici, je te guérirai le troisième jour tu monteras à la maison du SEIGNEUR.

5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
|
6 Et j’ajouterai quinze années à tes jours ; et je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d’Assyrie ; et je défendrai cette ville pour l’amour de moi, et pour l’amour de David, mon serviteur.
|
6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
|
7 Et Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit : Prenez une masse de figues. Et ils la prirent, et la mirent sur l’ulcère ; et il se rétablit.
|
7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
|
8 ¶ Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) avait dit à Isaiah (Ésaïe) : Quel sera le signe que le SEIGNEUR me guérira, et que le troisième jour je monterai à la maison du SEIGNEUR ?
|
8 ¶ And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
|
9 Et Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit : Ce signe te sera donné du SEIGNEUR, que le SEIGNEUR accomplira la chose qu’il a prononcée L’ombre avancera-t-elle de dix degrés, ou reculera-t-elle de dix degrés ?
|
9 And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
|
10 Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) dit : C’est peu de chose que l’ombre avance de dix degrés ; non, mais que l’ombre retourne de dix degrés en arrière.
|
10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
|
11 Et Isaiah (Ésaïe), le prophète, cria au SEIGNEUR, et il fit retourner l’ombre de dix degrés en arrière, par lesquels elle était descendue sur le cadran d’Ahaz.
|
11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
|
12 ¶ En ce temps-là, Berodachbaladan, le fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya des lettres avec un présent à Hezekiah, car il avait appris qu’Hezekiah (Ézéchias) avait été malade.
|
12 ¶ At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
|
13 Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias), écouta les messagers, et leur montra toute la maison de ses choses précieuses, l’argent, l’or, et les aromates, et le baume précieux, et tout son arsenal, et tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses trésors ; il n’y eut rien dans sa maison et dans tout son domaine, qu’Hezekiah (Ézéchias) ne leur montra.

13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
|
14 ¶ Puis Isaiah (Ésaïe), le prophète vint vers le roi Hezekiah (Ézéchias), et lui dit : Qu’ont dit ces hommes ? Et d’où sont-ils venus vers toi ? Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) répondit : Ils sont venus d’un pays éloigné, c’est-à-dire de Babylone.

14 ¶ Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
|
15 Et il dit : Qu’ont-ils vu dans ta maison ? Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) répondit : Ils ont vu toutes les choses qui sont dans ma maison ; il n’y a rien dans mes trésors que je ne leur aie montré.
|
15 And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
|
16 Et Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit à Hezekiah (Ézéchias) : Entends la parole du SEIGNEUR
|
16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
|
17 Voici, les jours viennent où tout ce qui est dans ta maison et ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu’à ce jour, sera emporté à Babylone ; rien ne restera, dit le SEIGNEUR.
|
17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
|
18 Et on prendra de tes fils qui seront issus de toi et que tu auras engendrés, et il seront eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone.
|
18 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
|
19 Alors Hezekiah (Ézéchias) dit à Isaiah (Ésaïe) : La parole du SEIGNEUR, que tu as prononcée, est bonne. Et il dit : N’est-ce pas bon, si paix et vérité existent pendant mes jours ?
|
19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
|
20 ¶ Et le reste des actes d’Hezekiah (Ézéchias), et tous ses exploits, et comment il fit l’étang et l’aqueduc, et amena l’eau dans la ville, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah (Juda) ?
|
20 ¶ And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
|
21 Et Hezekiah (Ézéchias) s’endormit avec ses pères ; et Manasseh (Manassé), son fils, régna à sa place.
|
21 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
