1 Manasseh (Manassé) était âgé de douze ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Hephzibah.

 1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hephzibah.

2 Et il fit ce qui était mauvais à la vue du SEIGNEUR, selon les abominations des païens que le SEIGNEUR avait chassés devant les enfants d’Israël.

 2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

3 Car il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu’Hezekiah, son père, avait détruits ; et il dressa des autels à Baal ; et fit un bosquet, comme avait fait Ahab, roi d’Israël ; et il adora toute l’armée du ciel et les servit.

 3 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

4 Et il bâtit des autels dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, de laquelle le SEIGNEUR avait dit : C’est à Jérusalem que je mettrai mon nom.

 4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

5 Et il bâtit des autels à toute l’armée du ciel dans les deux cours de la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

6 Et il fit passer son fils par le feu ; et il observait l’avenir et pratiquait les enchantements, et il établit des évocateurs d’esprits et des devins ; et il agissait avec beaucoup de perversité à la vue du SEIGNEUR, pour le provoquer au courroux.

 6 And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

7 Et il posa l’image taillée du bosquet qu’il avait fait dans la maison dont le SEIGNEUR avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils : C’est dans cette maison et dans Jérusalem, que j’ai choisie d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, que je mettrai mon nom à toujours.

 7 And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

8 Et je ne ferai plus errer les pieds d’Israël hors de la terre que j’ai donnée à leurs pères, si seulement ils prennent garde à faire tout ce que je leur ai commandé, et selon toute la loi que Moïse, mon serviteur, leur a commandé.

 8 Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

9 Mais ils n’écoutèrent pas ; et Manasseh (Manassé) les induisit à faire plus mal que les nations que Dieu avait détruites devant les enfants d’Israël.

 9 But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Et le SEIGNEUR parla par ses serviteurs les prophètes, disant :

 10 ¶ And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying,

11 Parce que Manasseh (Manassé), roi de Judah (Juda), a fait ces abominations, et commis plus de perversité que tout ce qu’ont fait les Amorites qui ont été avant lui, et qu’il a fait aussi pécher Judah (Juda) par ses idoles ;

 11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:

12 À cause de cela, ainsi dit le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël : Voici, je vais faire venir sur Jérusalem et sur Judah (Juda) un mal tel que quiconque en entendra parler, ses deux oreilles lui tinteront.

 12 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

13 Et j’étendrai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie et le fil à plomb de la maison d’Ahab ; et je nettoierai Jérusalem comme on nettoie un plat, le nettoyant, et le tournant sens dessus dessous.

 13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.

14 Et j’abandonnerai le restant de mon héritage ; et je les livrerai en la main de leurs ennemis, et ils deviendront le butin et la proie de tous leurs ennemis ;

 14 And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

15 Parce qu’ils ont fait ce qui était mauvais à ma vue et qu’ils m’ont provoqué au courroux, depuis le jour où leurs pères sont sortis d’Égypte, c’est-à-dire jusqu’à ce jour.

 15 Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.

16 De plus Manasseh (Manassé) versa le sang innocent en très grande abondance, jusqu’à en remplir Jérusalem depuis un bout jusqu’à l’autre, outre son péché par lequel il fit pécher Judah (Juda), en faisant ce qui était mauvais à la vue du SEIGNEUR.

 16 Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

17 ¶ Et le reste des actes de Manasseh (Manassé), et tout ce qu’il fit et le péché qu’il commit, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah (Juda) ?

 17 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18 Et Manasseh (Manassé) s’endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré dans le jardin de sa maison, dans le jardin d’Uzza ; et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.

 18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

19 ¶ Amon était âgé de vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Meshullemeth, la fille de Haruz, de Jotbah.

 19 ¶ Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20 Et il fit ce qui était malà la vue du SEIGNEUR, comme avait fait Manasseh (Manassé), son père.

 20 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.

21 Et il marcha dans tout le chemin dans lequel son père avait marché, et il servit les idoles que son père avait servies, et les adora.

 21 And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:

22 Et il abandonna le SEIGNEUR Dieu de ses pères, et ne marcha pas dans le chemin du SEIGNEUR.

 22 And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.

23 ¶ Et les serviteurs d’Amon conspirèrent contre lui, et tuèrent le roi dans sa maison.

 23 ¶ And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

24 Et le peuple du pays tua tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon ; et le peuple du pays établit Josiah, son fils, pour roi à sa place.

 24 And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

25 Et le reste des actes d’Amon, ce qu’il a fait, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah (Juda) ?

 25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26 Et on l’enterra dans son sépulcre, dans le jardin d’Uzza ; et Josiah, (Josias) son fils, régna à sa place.

 26 And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.
