1 Et Nadab et Abihu, les fils d’Aaron, prirent chacun son encensoir y mirent du feu, y mirent de l’encens dessus et offrirent un feu étrange devant le SEIGNEUR ; lequel il ne leur avait pas commandé.

 1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

2 Et le feu sortit de devant le SEIGNEUR, et les dévora, et ils moururent devant le SEIGNEUR.

 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

3 Alors Moïse dit à Aaron : C’est cela dont le SEIGNEUR avait parlé, disant : Je serai sanctifié en ceux qui s’approchent de moi et devant tout le peuple je serai glorifié. Et Aaron ne dit rien .

 3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

4 Et Moïse appela Mishael (Mishaël) et Elzaphan (Eltsaphan), les fils d’Uziel, l’oncle d’Aaron, et leur dit : Approchez-vous, emportez vos frères de devant le sanctuaire, hors du camp.

 4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

5 Ils s’approchèrent donc, et les emportèrent dans leurs manteaux hors du camp, comme Moïse avait dit.

 5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.

6 Et Moïse dit à Aaron, et à Eleazar (Eléazar) et à Ithamar, ses fils : Ne découvrez pas vos têtes et ne déchirez pas non plus vos vêtements, de peur que vous ne mouriez et de peur que la colère ne vienne sur tout le peuple ; mais que vos frères, toute la maison d’Israël, pleurent à cause du feu que le SEIGNEUR a allumé.

 6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

7 Et ne sortez pas de la porte du tabernacle de la congrégation, de peur que vous ne mouriez ; car l’huile d’onction du SEIGNEUR est sur vous. Et ils firent selon la parole de Moïse.

 7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

8 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR parla à Aaron, disant :

 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,

9 Ne buvez ni vin ni boisson forte, toi et tes fils avec toi, lorsque vous entrerez dans le tabernacle de la congrégation, de peur que vous ne mouriez ; ce sera un statut perpétuel à travers vos générations,

 9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

10 Et afin que vous puissiez faire la différence entre le saint et le profane, et entre le souillé et le net,

 10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

11 Et afin que vous puissiez enseigner aux enfants d’Israël tous les statuts que le SEIGNEUR leur a prononcés par la main de Moïse.

 11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

12 ¶ Et Moïse parla à Aaron, et à Eleazar(Eléazar) et à Ithamar, ses fils qui étaient restés : Prenez l’offrande de farine qui reste des offrandes faites par feu au SEIGNEUR, et mangez-la sans levain près de l’autel ; car c’est une chose très sainte.

 12 ¶ And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:

13 Et vous la mangerez dans le saint lieu, parce que c’est ton dû et le dû de tes fils, des sacrifices faits par feu au SEIGNEUR ; car ainsi m’est-il commandé.

 13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons’ due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.

14 Et vous mangerez la poitrine tournoyée et l’épaule élevée, dans un lieu net, toi, tes fils, et tes filles avec toi ; car elles sont ton dû et le dû de tes fils, lesquelles sont données des sacrifices d’offrandes de paix des enfants d’Israël.

 14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.

15 Ils apporteront l’épaule élevée et la poitrine tournoyée avec les offrandes faites par feu des graisses, pour la tournoyer en offrande tournoyée devant le SEIGNEUR ; et cela sera à toi, et à tes fils avec toi, par un statut pour toujours, comme le SEIGNEUR l’a commandé.

 15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.

16 ¶ Et Moïse cherchait diligemment le bouc de l’offrande du péché ; et voici, il avait été brûlé ; et il se courrouça contre Eléazar (Eléazar) et Ithamar, les fils d’Aaron qui étaient restés en vie, disant :

 16 ¶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,

17 Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas mangé l’offrande du péché dans le saint lieu, puisque c’est une chose très sainte, et Dieu vous l’a donnée pour porter l’iniquité de la congrégation, pour faire’expiation pour eux devant le SEIGNEUR ?

 17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?

18 Voici, son sang n’a pas été porté à l’intérieur du saint lieu ; vous auriez dû en effet la manger dans le saint lieu, comme je l’ai commandé.

 18 Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.

19 Et Aaron dit à Moïse : Voici, aujourd’hui ils ont offert leur offrande du péché et leur offrande consumée devant le SEIGNEUR ; et de telles choses me sont arrivées, et si j’avais mangé l’offrande du péché aujourd’hui, cela aurait-il été accepté aux yeux du SEIGNEUR ?

 19 And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?

20 Et quand Moïse entendit cela, il fut satisfait.

 20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.
