1 Et Jésus étant rempli de l’Esprit Saint revint du Jourdain, et fut conduit par l’Esprit dans le désert,

 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 Étant pendant quarante jours tenté par le diable. Et il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là: et lorsqu’ils furent terminés, ensuite il eut faim.

 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3 Et le diable lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, commande à cette pierre afin qu’elle devienne du pain.

 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 Et Jésus lui répondit, disant: Il est écrit, Que l’homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole de Dieu.

 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

5 Et le diable le menant sur une haute montagne, lui montra en l’espace d’un moment tous les royaumes du monde.

 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6 Et le diable lui dit: Je te donnerai tout ce pouvoir, et leur gloire: car cela m’est remis; et je le donnerai à qui je veux.

 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7 Si donc tu m’adores, tout sera à toi.

 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8 Et Jésus répondit et lui dit: Va derrière moi, Satan: car il est écrit, Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et lui seul tu serviras.

 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

9 Et il le mena à Jérusalem, et il le plaça sur un pinacle du temple, et lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi d’ici en bas:

 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 Car il est écrit, Il donnera à ses anges de se charger de toi, pour te garder:

 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 Et ils te porteront dans leurs mains, de peur qu'en aucun moment tu ne heurtes ton pied contre une pierre.

 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 Et Jésus répondant, lui dit: Il est dit, Tu ne tenteras pas le Seigneur ton Dieu.

 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 Et lorsque le diable eut achevé toute la tentation, il se retira de lui pour un temps.

 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 ¶ Et Jésus retourna en Galilée dans le pouvoir de l’Esprit: et sa renommée se répandit à travers toute la région d’alentour.

 14 ¶ And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

15 Et il enseignait dans leurs synagogues, étant glorifié de tous.

 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 ¶ Et il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé: et, comme était sa coutume, il entra dans la synagogue, le jour du sabbat et se leva pour lire.

 16 ¶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

17 Et on lui remis le livre du prophète Ésaïe. Et quand il eut ouvert le livre, il trouva l'endroit où il était écrit,

 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 L’Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi, parce qu'il m’a oint pour prêcher l’évangile aux pauvres; il m’a envoyé pour guérir ceux qui ont le cœur brisé, pour prêcher la délivrance aux captifs, et le recouvrement de la vue aux aveugles, pour mettre en liberté ceux qui sont meurtris,

 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 Pour prêcher l’année acceptable du Seigneur.

 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 Et il ferma le livre, et le rendit au ministre, et s’assit. Et les yeux de tous ceux qui étaient dans la synagogue étaient fixés sur lui.

 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 Et il commença à leur dire: Aujourd’hui cette écriture est réalisée dans vos oreilles.

 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 Et tous lui rendaient témoignage, et étaient surpris par les paroles gracieuses qui procédaient de sa bouche. Et ils disaient: N’est-il pas le fils de Joseph?

 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

23 Et il leur dit: Vous me direz sûrement ce proverbe: Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même: tout ce que nous avons entendu dire avoir été fait à Capernaüm, fais-le aussi ici dans ton pays.

 23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 Et il dit: En vérité je vous dis, aucun prophète n’est reçu dans son propre pays.

 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 Mais je vous dis une vérité, il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël au temps d’Élie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé trois ans et six mois, quand il y eut une grande famine dans tout le pays;

 25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

26 Mais Élie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d’elles, sauf à Sarepta, une ville de Sidon, chez une femme qui était veuve.

 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

27 Et il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël à l’époque d’Elisée le prophète; et aucun d’eux ne fut rendu net, sauf Naaman, le Syrien.

 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

28 Et tous dans la synagogue, quand ils entendirent ces choses, furent remplis de courroux,

 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 Et ils se levèrent, et l’expulsèrent de la ville, et le menèrent jusqu’au bord escarpé de la colline sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, pour qu’ils puissent le précipiter en bas la tête la première.

 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 Mais lui passant au milieu d’eux, poursuivit son chemin,

 30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

31 Et descendit à Capernaüm, une ville de Galilée, et les enseignait les jours de sabbat.

 31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 Et ils étaient étonnés de sa doctrine: car sa parole était avec pouvoir.

 32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

33 ¶ Et il y avait dans la synagogue un homme, qui avait un esprit d’un diable impur, et il cria d’une voix retentissante,

 33 ¶ And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Disant: Laisse-nous tranquilles; qu’avons-nous à faire avec toi, toi Jésus de Nazareth? es-tu venu pour nous tuer? Je sais qui tu es; le Saint de Dieu.

 34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 Et Jésus le reprit, disant: Tais-toi, et sors de lui. Et quand le diable l’eut jeté au milieu de tous, il sortit de lui, et ne lui fit aucun mal.

 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 Et ils furent tous stupéfaits, et parlaient entre eux, disant: Quelle parole est celle-ci! car il commande avec autorité et pouvoir aux esprits impurs, et ils sortent.

 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 Et sa renommée se répandit dans chaque endroit de la province alentour.

 37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

38 ¶ Et il se leva et sortit de la synagogue, et entra dans la maison de Simon. Et la belle-mère de Simon avait une forte fièvre; et ils le supplièrent pour elle.

 38 ¶ And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 Et il se pencha sur elle, et reprit la fièvre; et celle-ci la quitta: et immédiatement elle se leva et les servit.

 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

40 ¶ Or lorsque le soleil fut couché, tous ceux qui avaient des malades atteints de divers maux, les lui amenèrent; et il posa ses mains sur chacun d’eux, et les guérit.

 40 ¶ Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

41 Et les diables sortaient aussi de beaucoup, criant et disant: Tu es Christ le Fils de Dieu. Et lui, les reprenant ne leur permettait pas de parler: car ils savaient qu’il était Christ.

 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

42 Et lorsqu’il fit jour, il partit et alla dans un lieu désert: et le peuple le chercha, et vint jusqu’à lui et le retint, afin qu’il ne les quitte pas.

 42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 Et il leur dit: Je dois prêcher le royaume de Dieu à d’autres villes aussi: car c’est pour cela que je suis envoyé.

 43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de Galilée.

 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
