1 Et il arriva après cela, qu’il traversa chaque ville et village, prêchant et démontrant les heureuses nouvelles du royaume de Dieu: et les douze étaient avec lui,

 1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

2 Et certaines femmes qui avaient été guéries d’esprits mauvais et d’infirmités, savoir, Marie appelée Magdeleine, de laquelle étaient sortis sept diables,

 2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

3 Et Jeanne, femme de Chuza, intendant d’Hérode, et Suzanne, et beaucoup d’autres, qui le servaient de leur substance.

 3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

4 ¶ Et quand un grand nombre de personnes s’étaient assemblées, et étaient venues à lui de chaque ville, il parla par une parabole:

 4 ¶ And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

5 Un semeur sortit pour semer sa semence: et comme il semait, quelques grains tombèrent au bord du chemin; et furent piétinés, et les oiseaux les dévorèrent.

 5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 Et quelques-uns tombèrent sur un roc; et dès qu’ils levèrent, ils desséchèrent, parce qu’ils manquaient d’humidité.

 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

7 Et quelques-uns tombèrent parmi les épines; et les épines levèrent avec le grain, et l’étouffèrent.

 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

8 Et d’autres tombèrent dans la bonne terre, et levèrent, et portèrent du fruit, au centuple. Et lorsqu’il eut dit ces choses, il s’écria: Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, qu’il entende.

 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9 Et ses disciples lui demandèrent, disant: Que peut être cette parabole?

 9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10 Et il dit: C’est à vous qu’il est donné de connaître les mystères du royaume de Dieu: mais aux autres, en paraboles; afin qu’en voyant ils ne puissent voir, et qu’en entendant ils ne puissent comprendre.

 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11 Or la parabole est ceci: La semence est la parole de Dieu.

 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 Ceux au bord du chemin sont ceux qui entendent; puis vient le diable, et il enlève la parole de leurs cœurs, de peur qu’ils ne croient, et soient sauvés.

 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13 Ceux sur le roc sont ceux qui, lorsqu’ils entendent, reçoivent la parole avec joie; et ceux-ci n’ont aucune racine, lesquels croient pour un instant, et au moment de la tentation ils dépérissent.

 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

14 Et ce qui tomba parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui, quand ils ont entendu, s’en vont, et sont étouffés par les soucis, et la richesse et les plaisirs de cette vie, et ils ne portent aucun fruit à maturité.

 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

15 Mais ce qui tomba dans la bonne terre ce sont ceux, qui ayant entendu la parole la retiennent dans un cœur honnête et bon, et portent du fruit avec patience.

 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

16 ¶ Aucun homme lorsqu’il a allumé une bougie, ne la couvre d’un vase, ni ne la met sous un lit; mais la met sur un chandelier, afin que ceux qui entrent puissent voir la lumière.

 16 ¶ No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

17 Car rien n’est secret, qui ne sera rendu manifeste; ni aucune chose cachée, qui ne sera connue et ne viendra au grand air.

 17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

18 Prenez donc garde comment vous entendez: car quiconque a, à lui il sera donné; et quiconque n’a pas, de lui il sera pris même ce qu’il semble avoir.

 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

19 ¶ Alors sa mère et ses frères vinrent à lui, et ils ne pouvaient l’approcher à cause de la foule.

 19 ¶ Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

20 Et on lui rapporta par certains qui lui dirent: Ta mère et tes frères se tiennent dehors, désirant te voir.

 20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

21 Et il répondit et leur dit: Ma mère et mes frères sont ceux qui entendent la parole de Dieu, et la pratiquent.

 21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

22 ¶ Or il arriva un certain jour, qu’il alla dans un bateau avec ses disciples: et il leur dit: Allons vers l’autre côté du lac. Et ils prirent le large.

 22 ¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23 Mais comme ils faisaient voile, il s’endormit: et une tourmente de vent descendit sur le lac; et ils étaient submergés par l’eau, et ils étaient en péril.

 23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 Et ils vinrent à lui et le réveillèrent, disant: Maître, maître, nous périssons. Alors il se leva, et reprit le vent et la furie de l’eau: et ils cessèrent, et il y eut le calme.

 24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 Et il leur dit: Où est votre foi? Et eux, ayant peur se demandèrent, disant l’un à l’autre: Quelle sorte d’homme est-ce! car il commande même aux vents et à l’eau, et ils lui obéissent.

 25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

26 ¶ Et ils arrivèrent à la province des Gadaréniens, qui est de l’autre côté face à la Galilée.

 26 ¶ And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

27 Et lorsqu’il descendit à terre, un certain homme le rencontra hors de la ville, lequel était possédé de diables depuis longtemps, et ne portait pas d’effets, et ne demeurait dans aucune maison, mais dans les tombes.

 27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

28 Quand il vit Jésus, il cria et tomba à terre devant lui, et dit d'une voix retentissante: Qu'ai-je à faire avec toi, Jésus, toi Fils du Dieu le plus haut? Je t’en implore, ne me tourmente pas.

 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

29 (Car il avait commandé à l’esprit impur de sortir de l’homme. Car il l’avait souvent saisi: et il était gardé lié avec des chaînes et des fers; et il rompait les liens, et était poussé par le diable dans le désert).

 29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

30 Et Jésus lui demanda, disant: Quel est ton nom? Et il dit: Légion: parce que beaucoup de diables étaient entrés en lui.

 30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

31 Et ils le suppliaient qu’il ne leur commande pas d’aller dans l’abîme.

 31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

32 Et il y avait là un troupeau de nombreux pourceaux se nourrissant sur la montagne: et ils le suppliaient qu’il leur permette d’entrer en eux. Et il le leur permit.

 32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

33 Alors les diables sortirent de l’homme et entrèrent dans les pourceaux: et le troupeau descendit avec violence l’endroit escarpé dans le lac, et s’étouffèrent.

 33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

34 Quand ceux qui les nourrissaient virent ce qui était arrivé, ils s’enfuirent et allèrent le raconter dans la ville et dans le pays.

 34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35 Alors ils sortirent pour voir ce qui s’était passé; et vinrent à Jésus, et trouvèrent l’homme duquel les diables étaient partis, assis aux pieds de Jésus, vêtu et sensé: et ils eurent peur.

 35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

36 Ceux aussi qui l’avaient vu, leur racontèrent de quelle manière celui qui était possédé par les diables avait été guéri.

 36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

37 ¶ Alors toute la multitude de Gadaréniens le supplia de partir de chez eux; car ils étaient pris d’une grande peur: et il monta dans le bateau et s’en retourna.

 37 ¶ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

38 Or, l’homme duquel les diables étaient partis, le supplia de lui permettre d’être avec lui: mais Jésus le renvoya, disant:

 38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39 Retourne dans ta propre maison, et déclare quelles grandes choses Dieu t’a faites. Et il s’en alla, et publia par toute la ville quelles grandes choses Jésus lui avait faites.

 39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

40 Et il arriva que, lorsque Jésus fut de retour, le peuple le reçut volontiers: car tous l’attendaient.

 40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

41 ¶ Et, voici, un homme vint, nommé Jaïrus, et il était un dirigeant de la synagogue: et il tomba à terre aux pieds de Jésus, et le supplia pour qu’il vienne dans sa maison:

 41 ¶ And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

42 Car il avait une seule fille, d’environ douze ans, et elle était couchée mourante. Mais tandis qu’il y allait, le peuple le bousculait.

 42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43 ¶ Et une femme ayant une perte de sang depuis douze ans, laquelle avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, et n’avait pu être guérie par aucun,

 43 ¶ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Vint derrière lui, et toucha le bord de son vêtement: et immédiatement, sa perte de sang s’arrêta.

 44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 Et Jésus dit: Qui m’a touché? quand tous le nièrent, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui, dirent: Maître, la multitude te bouscule et te presse et tu dis: Qui m’a touché?

 45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 Et Jésus dit: Quelqu’un m’a touché: car je perçois qu’une vertu est sortie de moi.

 46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 Et lorsque la femme vit qu’elle n’était pas cachée, elle vint en tremblant, et tombant devant lui, elle lui déclara devant tout le peuple pour quelle raison elle l’avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie immédiatement.

 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48 Et il lui dit: Fille, prends courage: ta foi t’a rendue bien portante; va en paix.

 48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49 ¶ Comme il parlait encore, quelqu’un vint de la maison du dirigeant de la synagogue, lui disant: Ta fille est morte; ne dérange pas le Maître.

 49 ¶ While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50 Mais lorsque Jésus l’entendit, il lui répondit, disant: Ne crains pas: crois seulement, et elle sera rendue bien portante.

 50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51 Et quand il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa entrer personne sauf Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et le père et la mère de la jeune fille.

 51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52 Et tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle: mais il dit: Ne pleurez pas; elle n’est pas morte, mais elle dort.

 52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53 Et ils le tournèrent en ridicule, sachant qu’elle était morte.

 53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54 Et il les mit tous dehors, et il la prit par la main et appela, disant: Fillette, lève-toi.

 54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55 Et son esprit revint, et elle se leva aussitôt: et il commanda de lui donner à manger.

 55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56 Et ses parents furent étonnés: mais il leur recommanda qu’ils ne disent à personne ce qui était arrivé.

 56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
