1 En ce temps-là, il y avait quelques personnes présentes qui lui racontèrent concernant les Galiléens dont Pilate avait mêlé le sang avec leurs sacrifices.

 1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilæans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 Et Jésus, répondant, leur dit: Supposez-vous que ces Galiléens étaient plus pécheurs que tous les Galiléens, parce qu’ils ont souffert de telles choses?

 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilæans were sinners above all the Galilæans, because they suffered such things?

3 Je vous dis: Non: mais à moins que vous ne vous repentiez, vous périrez de même.

 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4 Ou ces dix-huit sur qui la tour de Siloé tomba, et les tua, pensez-vous qu’ils étaient plus pécheurs que tous les hommes qui demeuraient à Jérusalem?

 4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 Je vous dis: Non: mais, à moins que vous ne vous repentiez, vous périrez tous de même.

 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

6 ¶ Il dit aussi cette parabole; Un certain homme avait un figuier planté dans son vignoble; et il vint y chercher du fruit, et n’en trouva pas.

 6 ¶ He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 Alors il dit au vigneron de son vignoble: Voici, depuis trois ans je viens chercher du fruit sur ce figuier, et je n’en trouve pas: coupe-le; pourquoi encombre-t-il le sol?

 7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

8 Et répondant, il lui dit: Seigneur, laisse-le cette année aussi, jusqu’à ce que je creuse autour, et que j’y mette du fumier:

 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

9 Et s’il porte du fruit c’est bien: et sinon alors après cela tu le couperas.

 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

10 Et il était en train d’enseigner dans une des synagogues le jour du sabbat.

 10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

11 ¶ Et, voici, il y avait là une femme qui avait un esprit d’infirmité depuis dix-huit ans, et elle était toute courbée, et ne pouvait en aucun cas se redresser.

 11 ¶ And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 Et lorsque Jésus la vit, il l’appela à lui et lui dit: Femme, tu es déliée de ton infirmité.

 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 Et il posa ses mains sur elle: et immédiatement elle fut rendue droite, et glorifia Dieu.

 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 Et le dirigeant de la synagogue répondit avec indignation, parce que Jésus avait guéri le jour du sabbat, et dit au peuple: Il y a six jours pendant lesquels les hommes doivent travailler: venez donc ces jours-là pour être guéris, et non pas le jour du sabbat.

 14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 Le Seigneur alors lui répondit, et dit: Toi, hypocrite, chacun de vous ne détache-t-il pas son bœuf ou son âne de l’étable le jour du sabbat, et ne le mène-t-il pas à boire?

 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 Et cette femme, étant une fille d’Abraham, que Satan avait liée voici dix-huit ans, ne fallait-il pas qu’elle soit détachée de ce lien le jour du sabbat?

 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 Et lorsqu’il eut dit ces choses, tous ses adversaires furent honteux: et tout le peuple se réjouissait de toutes les choses glorieuses qui étaient faites par lui.

 17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

18 ¶ Alors il dit: À quoi est semblable le royaume de Dieu, et à quoi l’identifierai-je?

 18 ¶ Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

19 Il est comme un grain de semence de moutarde, qu’un homme prit et jeta dans son jardin; et il poussa et devint un grand arbre; et les rapaces logeaient dans ses branches.

 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

20 Et de nouveau il dit: À quoi comparerai-je le royaume de Dieu?

 20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

21 Il est comme le levain qu’une femme prit et cacha dans trois mesures de farine, jusqu’à ce que le tout soit levé.

 21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

22 Et il traversait les villes et les villages, enseignant et voyageant vers Jérusalem.

 22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

23 Alors quelqu’un lui dit: Seigneur, y en a-t-il peu qui soient sauvés? Et il leur dit:

 23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

24 ¶ Efforcez-vous d’entrer par la porte étroite: car beaucoup, je vous dis, chercheront à y entrer, et ne seront pas capables.

 24 ¶ Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

25 Une fois que le maître de la maison se sera levé, et aura fermé la porte, et que vous commencerez à vous tenir dehors, et à frapper à la porte, disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous; et il vous répondra et vous dira, Je ne sais pas d’où vous êtes:

 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

26 Alors vous commencerez à dire: Nous avons mangé et bu en ta présence, et tu as enseigné dans nos rues.

 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

27 Mais il dira: Je vous dis, je ne sais pas d’où vous êtes; retirez-vous de moi, vous tous ouvriers d’iniquité.

 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

28 Il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents, quand vous verrez Abraham, et Isaac, et Jacob et tous les prophètes dans le royaume de Dieu, et vous vous-mêmes serez jetés dehors.

 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

29 Et ils viendront de l’est et de l’ouest, et du nord et du sud, et s’assiéront dans le royaume de Dieu.

 29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

30 Et, voici, il y a des derniers qui seront les premiers, et il y a des premiers qui seront les derniers.

 30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

31 ¶ Le même jour, certains des Pharisiens vinrent, lui disant: Va-t’en, et pars d’ici: car Hérode te tuera.

 31 ¶ The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.

32 Et il leur dit: Allez et dites à ce renard: Voici, je chasse les diables, et je soigne aujourd’hui et demain, et le troisième jour j’aurai accompli.

 32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

33 Néanmoins je dois marcher aujourd’hui, et demain, et le jour suivant: car il ne se peut qu’un prophète périsse hors de Jérusalem.

 33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

34 Ô Jérusalem, Jérusalem, laquelle tues les prophètes, et lapides ceux qui te sont envoyés; combien de fois ai-je voulu rassembler tes enfants, comme une poule rassemble sa couvée sous ses ailes, et vous ne l’avez pas voulu!

 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

35 Voici, votre maison vous est laissée déserte: et en vérité je vous dis, que vous ne me verrez plus jusqu’au moment où vous direz: Béni est celui qui vient dans le nom du Seigneur.

 35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
