1 Puis tous les publicains et les pécheurs s’approchèrent de lui pour l’entendre.

 1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

2 Et les Pharisiens et les scribes murmuraient, disant: Cet homme reçoit les pécheurs, et mange avec eux.

 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3 ¶ Et il leur dit cette parabole, disant:

 3 ¶ And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

4 Quel homme parmi vous, ayant cent moutons, s’il en perd un, ne laisse les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf au désert, et ne va après celui qui est perdu, jusqu’à ce qu’il le trouve?

 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 Et quand il l’a trouvé, il le met sur ses épaules, se réjouissant.

 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

6 Et quand il arrive à la maison, il réunit ses amis et voisins, leur disant: Réjouissez-vous avec moi; car j’ai trouvé mon mouton qui était perdu.

 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

7 Je vous dis que de même il y aura de la joie au ciel pour un seul pécheur qui se repent, plus que pour quatre-vingt-dix-neuf personnes justes qui n’ont pas besoin de repentance.

 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

8 ¶ Ou quelle femme ayant dix pièces d’argent, si elle en a perdu une, n’allume une bougie, et ne balaie la maison et ne cherche soigneusement jusqu’à ce qu’elle l’ait trouvée?

 8 ¶ Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

9 Et quand elle l’a trouvée, elle réunit ses amies et ses voisines, disant: Réjouissez-vous avec moi; car j’ai trouvé la pièce que j’avais perdue.

 9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10 De même, je vous dis, il y a de la joie en la présence des anges de Dieu pour un seul pécheur qui se repent.

 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

11 ¶ Et il dit: Un certain homme avait deux fils:

 11 ¶ And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 Et le plus jeune des deux dit à son père: Père, donne-moi la part des biens qui me revient. Et il leur partagea son avoir.

 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 Et peu de jours après, le plus jeune fils ramassa tout et alla en voyage pour un pays éloigné, et y gaspilla sa substance en vivant par une vie dissolue.

 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 Et lorsqu’il eut tout dépensé, il survint une grande famine dans cette terre; et il commença à être dans le besoin.

 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 Et il alla, et se joignit à l’un des citoyens de ce pays; et il l’envoya dans ses champs pour nourrir les pourceaux.

 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 Et il aurait volontiers rempli son ventre des cosses que les pourceaux mangeaient: et personne ne lui donnait rien.

 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 Et quand il fut revenu à lui-même, il dit: Combien de serviteurs salariés de mon père ont du pain plus qu’il ne leur en faut, et moi, je meurs de faim!

 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 Je me lèverai et j’irai vers mon père, et lui dirai: Père, j’ai péché contre le ciel, et devant toi,

 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 Et je ne suis plus digne d’être appelé ton fils: traite-moi comme l’un de tes serviteurs salariés.

 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 Et il se leva et vint à son père. Mais lorsqu’il était encore très loin, son père le vit, et eut compassion, et courut, et se jeta à son cou et l’embrassa.

 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 Et le fils lui dit: Père, j’ai péché contre le ciel, et à ta vue, et je ne suis plus digne d’être appelé ton fils.

 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 Mais le père dit à ses serviteurs: Apportez la plus belle robe, et l’en revêtez; et mettez-lui un anneau à sa main, et des chaussures à ses pieds:

 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 Et amenez ici le veau gras, et tuez-le; et mangeons et soyons joyeux:

 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 Car mon fils que voici était mort, et il est de nouveau en vie; il était perdu, et il est retrouvé. Et ils commencèrent à être joyeux.

 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Or son fils aîné était dans le champ: et comme il venait, et approchait de la maison, il entendit de la musique et des danses.

 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

26 Et il appela un des serviteurs, et demanda ce que ces choses voulaient dire.

 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 Et il lui dit: Ton frère est venu; et ton père a tué le veau gras, parce qu’il l’a reçu sain et sauf.

 27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 Et il se mit en colère et ne voulait pas entrer: par conséquent son père sortit, et l’implora.

 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29 Et lui répondant, dit à son père: Voici, depuis ces nombreuses années je te sers, je n’ai à aucun moment transgressé ton commandement: et cependant tu ne m’as jamais donné un chevreau, afin que je puisse me divertir avec mes amis:

 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

30 Mais dès que celui-ci, ton fils est venu, lequel a dévoré ton avoir avec des prostituées, tu as tué pour lui le veau gras.

 30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 Et il lui dit: Fils, tu es toujours avec moi, et tout ce que j’ai est à toi.

 31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

32 Il était bon que nous nous divertissions et que nous soyons contents: car celui-ci, ton frère était mort, et est de nouveau en vie; et était perdu, et est retrouvé.

 32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
