1 Voici, j’enverrai mon messager, et il préparera le chemin devant moi, et le Seigneur que vous cherchez viendra soudainement à son temple, c’est-à-dire le messager de l’alliance en qui vous prenez plaisir ; voici, il viendra, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

2 Mais qui pourra supporter le jour de sa venue ? et qui subsistera quand il paraîtra ? Car il est comme le feu du raffineur, et comme la potasse des foulons.

 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

3 Et il sera assis, comme celui qui raffine et purifie l’argent ; et il purifiera les fils de Levi (Lévi), et les purgera comme l’or et l’argent, afin qu’ils puissent offrir au SEIGNEUR une offrande dans la rectitude.

 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

4 Alors l’offrande de Judah (Juda) et de Jérusalem sera agréable au SEIGNEUR comme aux jours anciens, comme aux premières années.

 4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

5 Et je m’approcherai de vous pour le jugement, et je serai un rapide témoin contre les sorciers, et contre les adultères et contre ceux qui jurent faussement, et contre ceux qui oppriment le salarié sur sa paye, et la veuve et l’orphelin, et qui détournent l’étranger de son droit, et qui ne me craignent pas, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

6 Car je suis le SEIGNEUR, je ne change pas ; c’est pourquoi, vous, fils de Jacob, n’êtes pas consumés.

 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

7 ¶ Depuis les jours de vos pères, vous vous êtes détournés de mes ordonnances, et vous ne les avez pas obéis. Retournez à moi et je retournerai à vous, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées. Mais vous dites : En quoi retournerons-nous ?

 7 ¶ Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8 ¶Un homme volera-t-il Dieu ? Cependant vous m’avez volé. Mais vous dites : En quoi t’avons-nous volé ? Dans les dîmes et dans les offrandes.

 8 ¶ Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Vous êtes maudits de malédiction, car vous m’avez volé, c’est-à-dire la nation entière.

 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Apportez toutes les dîmes dans les magasins du temple afin qu’il y ait de la nourriture dans ma maison ; et dès maintenant éprouvez-moi en cela, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées si je ne vous ouvre pas les fenêtres du ciel, et si je ne verse pas sur vous une bénédiction, en sorte qu’il n’y aura pas assez de place pour la recevoir.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 Et je réprimerai pour l’amour de vous le dévoreur, et il ne vous détruira pas les fruits de votre sol, et votre vigne ne laissera pas tomber son fruit avant la saison dans la campagne, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

12 Et toutes les nations vous appelleront bénis ; car vous serez un pays agréable, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

13 ¶ Vos paroles ont été fortes contre moi, dit le SEIGNEUR. Maintenant vous dites : Qu’avons-nous tant dit : entre nous contre toi ? "

 13 ¶ Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

14 Vous avez dit : C’est en vain qu’on sert Dieu, et quel profit y a-t-il que nous ayons gardé son ordonnance, et que nous ayons marché portant le deuil devant le SEIGNEUR des armées ?

 14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

15 Et maintenant nous appelons heureux les orgueilleux ; oui, ceux qui commettent la méchanceté prospèrent ; oui, ceux qui tentent Dieu sont même délivrés.

 15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

16 ¶ Alors ceux qui craignent le SEIGNEUR se sont parlés l’un à l’autre, et le SEIGNEUR a été attentif et l’a entendu ; et un livre de souvenir a été écrit devant lui pour ceux qui craignent le SEIGNEUR et qui pensent à son nom.

 16 ¶ Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

17 Et ils seront à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, au jour où je préparerai mes joyaux ; ils seront à moi ; et je les épargnerai, comme un homme épargne son propre fils qui le sert.

 17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

18 Et vous retournerez et vous discernerez entre le droit et le méchant, entre celui qui sert Dieu et celui qui ne le sert pas.

 18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
