1 Et il commença de nouveau à enseigner près de la mer: et une grande multitude s’assembla auprès de lui, de sorte qu’il monta dans un bateau, et s’assit sur la mer; et toute la multitude était à terre près de la mer.

 1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

2 Et il leur enseignait beaucoup de choses par des paraboles, et leur disait dans sa doctrine,

 2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

3 Prêtez l’oreille; Voici, un semeur sortit pour semer:

 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

4 Et il arriva, comme il semait, que quelques graines tombèrent au bord du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent et les dévorèrent.

 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

5 Et quelques graines tombèrent sur le sol pierreux, où il y avait peu de terre; et immédiatement elles levèrent, parce qu’elles n’avaient pas de profondeur de terre:

 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

6 Mais quand le soleil se leva, elles furent brûlées; et parce qu’elles n’avaient pas de racine, elles séchèrent.

 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

7 Et quelques-unes tombèrent parmi les épines, et les épines poussèrent, et les étouffèrent, et elles ne portèrent aucun fruit.

 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8 Et d’autres tombèrent dans un bon sol, et produisirent du fruit qui poussa et augmenta; et rapportèrent l’une trente, l’une soixante, et l’une cent.

 8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

9 Et il leur dit: Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, qu’il entende.

 9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 Et quand il fut seul, ceux qui étaient autour de lui, avec les douze, lui demandèrent à propos de la parabole.

 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

11 Et il leur dit: À vous il est donné de connaître le mystère du royaume de Dieu: mais à ceux qui sont du dehors, toutes ces choses se font par des paraboles:

 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

12 De sorte qu’en voyant, ils peuvent voir, et n’aperçoivent pas; et qu’en entendant, ils peuvent entendre, et ne comprennent pas; de peur qu’à tout moment ils ne se convertissent, et que leurs péchés ne leur soient pardonnés.

 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

13 Et il leur dit: Ne connaissez-vous pas cette parabole? Et comment alors connaîtrez-vous toutes les paraboles?

 13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

14 ¶ Le semeur sème la parole.

 14 ¶ The sower soweth the word.

15 Et ceux-ci sont au bord du chemin, où la parole est semée; mais lorsqu’ils l’ont entendue, Satan vient immédiatement, et enlève la parole qui avait été semée dans leurs cœurs.

 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16 Et ceux-ci sont ceux qui de même sont semés sur un sol pierreux; qui, lorsqu’ils ont entendu la parole, la reçoivent immédiatement avec exultation;

 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

17 Et ils n’ont pas de racine en eux-mêmes, et ils ne persévèrent qu’un moment: ensuite, quand l’affliction ou la persécution arrive à cause de la parole, ils sont immédiatement offensés.

 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

18 Et ceux-ci sont ceux qui sont semés parmi les épines, sont ceux qui écoutent la parole,

 18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19 Et les soucis de ce monde, et l’attrait trompeur de la richesse, et les convoitises des autres choses étant entrées, étouffent la parole, et elle devient infructueuse.

 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20 Et ceux-ci sont ceux qui sont semés dans la bonne terre; ceux qui entendent la parole, et la reçoivent, et portent du fruit, l’un trente, l’un soixante et l’un cent.

 20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

21 ¶ Et il leur disait: Est-ce qu’une bougie est apportée pour être mise sous un boisseau, ou sous un lit? Et non pour être mise sur un chandelier?

 21 ¶ And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 Car il n’y a rien de caché qui ne soit manifesté; ni rien tenu secret, qui ne vienne au grand air.

 22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

23 Si un homme a des oreilles pour entendre, qu’il entende.

 23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

24 Et il leur dit: Prenez garde à ce que vous entendez: De la mesure dont vous mesurerez, il vous sera mesuré: et à vous qui entendez, il vous sera donné davantage.

 24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

25 Car à celui qui a, il sera donné: et à celui qui n’a pas, de lui sera ôté même ce qu’il a.

 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

26 ¶ Et il disait: Ainsi est le royaume de Dieu, comme si un homme jetait de la semence dans la terre;

 26 ¶ And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

27 Et dort, et se lève nuit et jour, et la semence germe et pousse, il ne sait comment.

 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

28 Car la terre produit du fruit d’elle-même; d’abord le brin, puis l’épi, après cela le maïs entièrement dans l’épi.

 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

29 Mais quand le fruit est produit, immédiatement il y met la faucille, parce que la moisson est arrivée.

 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

30 ¶ Et il disait: À quoi comparerons-nous le royaume de Dieu? Ou avec quelle comparaison le comparerons-nous?

 30 ¶ And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

31 C’est comme un grain de semence de moutarde, qui, lorsqu’il est semé dans la terre, est le moindre de toutes les semences qui sont dans la terre:

 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

32 Mais lorsqu’il est semé, il grandit, et devient plus grand que toutes les plantes, et jaillit de grandes branches; de sorte que les rapaces peuvent se loger sous son ombre.

 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

33 Et par beaucoup de telles paraboles il leur disait la parole, selon qu’ils étaient capables de l’entendre.

 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

34 Mais il ne leur parlait pas sans parabole: et quand ils étaient seuls, il expliquait toutes choses à ses disciples.

 34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

35 Et le même jour, quand le soir fut venu, il leur dit: Passons vers l’autre côté.

 35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 Et lorsqu’ils eurent renvoyé la multitude, ils le prirent comme il était dans le bateau. Et il y avait aussi d’autres petits bateaux avec lui.

 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 Et il s’éleva une grande tourmente de vent, et les vagues s’abattaient dans le bateau, de sorte qu’il était déjà plein.

 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 Et il était à la poupe du bateau, endormi sur un oreiller: et ils le réveillèrent et lui dirent: Maître, ne te soucies-tu pas de ce que nous périssons?

 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 Et il se leva, et reprit le vent, et dit à la mer: Paix, sois tranquille. Et le vent cessa, et il se fit un grand calme.

 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 Et il leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous si craintifs? comment se fait-il que vous n’ayez aucune foi?

 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 Et ils eurent extrêmement peur, et se disaient l'un l’autre: Quelle sorte d’homme est-ce, à qui même le vent et la mer obéissent?

 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
