1 Et il se mit à leur parler en paraboles: Un certain homme planta un vignoble et il l’entoura d’une haie, et y creusa un emplacement pour la cuve à vin, et y bâtit une tour, et la loua à des viticulteurs et s’en alla dans un pays lointain.

 1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

2 Et à la saison il envoya un serviteur vers les viticulteurs, afin qu’il puisse recevoir des viticulteurs du fruit du vignoble.

 2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 Et ils l’attrapèrent et le battirent, et le renvoyèrent les mains vides.

 3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 Et de nouveau il leur envoya un autre serviteur; et à celui-là ils jetèrent des pierres, et le blessèrent à la tête, et le renvoyèrent l’ayant traité honteusement.

 4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 Et de nouveau il en envoya un autre; et celui-là ils le tuèrent, et beaucoup d’autres; battant les uns, et tuant les autres.

 5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 Ayant donc encore un fils, son bien-aimé, il le leur envoya aussi, le dernier, disant: Ils révéreront mon fils.

 6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 Mais ces viticulteurs dirent entre eux: Celui-ci est l’héritier; venez, tuons-le, et le patrimoine sera à nous.

 7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.

8 Et ils le prirent et le tuèrent et le jetèrent hors du vignoble.

 8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 Que fera donc le seigneur du vignoble? Il viendra et fera tuer les viticulteurs, et donnera le vignoble à d’autres.

 9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

10 Et n’avez-vous pas lu cette écriture; La pierre que les bâtisseurs ont rejetée est devenue la principale du coin:

 10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

11 Ceci a été fait par le Seigneur, et c’est merveilleux à nos yeux?

 11 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 Et ils cherchaient à se saisir de lui, mais ils craignaient le peuple: car ils savaient qu’il avait dit la parabole contre eux: et ils le laissèrent et s’en allèrent.

 12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

13 ¶ Et ils lui envoyèrent certains des Pharisiens et des Hérodiens, afin de le prendre au piège dans ses paroles.

 13 ¶ And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

14 Et lorsqu’ils arrivèrent, ils lui dirent: Maître, nous savons que tu es vrai et que tu ne te soucies de qui que ce soit: car tu ne regardes pas à la personne des hommes, mais tu enseignes le chemin de Dieu selon la vérité: Est-ce permis de donner le tribut à César ou non?

 14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Cæsar, or not?

15 Le donnerons-nous ou ne le donnerons-nous pas? Mais lui, connaissant leur hypocrisie, leur dit: Pourquoi me tentez-vous? Apportez-moi un denier, que je puisse le voir.

 15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

16 Et ils le lui apportèrent. Et il leur dit: De qui est cette image et inscription? Et ils lui dirent: De César.

 16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Cæsar’s.

17 Et Jésus répondant, leur dit: Rendez à César les choses qui sont à César, et à Dieu les choses qui sont à Dieu. Et ils s’émerveillèrent à son sujet.

 17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.

18 ¶ Puis viennent vers lui les Sadducéens, qui disent qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection; et ils lui demandèrent, disant:

 18 ¶ Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 Maître, Moïse nous a écrit que si le frère d’un homme meurt et laisse sa femme, et ne laisse pas d’enfants, son frère devra épouser sa femme, et susciter une semence à son frère.

 19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 Or il y avait sept frères: et le premier prit une femme, et mourant ne laissa pas de semence.

 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21 Et le second la prit, et mourut, et lui non plus ne laissa pas de semence: et de même le troisième.

 21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22 Et les sept la prirent, et ne laissèrent pas de semence: la femme mourut aussi, la dernière de tous.

 22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23 En la résurrection donc, quand ils ressusciteront, duquel d’entre eux sera-t-elle la femme? car les sept l’ont eue pour femme.

 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 Et Jésus répondant leur dit: N’êtes-vous donc pas dans l’erreur, parce que vous ne connaissez ni les écritures, ni le pouvoir de Dieu?

 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 Car lorsqu’ils seront ressuscités d’entre les morts, ils ne se marieront pas, ni ne seront donnés en mariage; mais ils seront comme les anges qui sont au ciel.

 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26 Et quant aux morts, et à ce qu’ils ressuscitent: n’avez-vous pas lu dans le livre de Moïse, au buisson ardent, comment Dieu lui parla, disant, Je suis le Dieu d’Abraham, et le Dieu d’Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob?

 26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 Il n’est pas le Dieu des morts, mais le Dieu des vivants: vous errez donc grandement.

 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

28 ¶ Et l’un des scribes vint, et les ayant entendus discuter ensemble, et percevant qu’il leur avait bien répondu, lui demanda: Quel est le premier de tous les commandements?

 28 ¶ And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 Et Jésus lui répondit: Le premier de tous les commandements est: Entends, Ô Israël; le Seigneur notre Dieu est un seul Seigneur:

 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 Et tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, et de toute ton âme, et de tout ton cerveau, et avec toute ta vigueur: c’est là le premier commandement.

 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 Et le second lui est semblable, nommément ceci, Tu aimeras ton voisin comme toi-même. Il n’y a aucun autre commandement plus grand que ceux-ci.

 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 Et le scribe lui dit: Bien, Maître, tu as dit la vérité: car il n’y a qu’un seul Dieu, et il n’y en a pas d’autre que lui:

 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 Et l’aimer de tout son cœur, de toute sa compréhension, de toute son âme, et de toute sa vigueur, et aimer son voisin comme soi-même, c’est plus que toutes les offrandes consumées et les sacrifices.

 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 Et quand Jésus vit qu’il avait répondu prudemment, il lui dit: Tu n’es pas loin du royaume de Dieu. Et aucun homme n’osa plus lui poser d’autre question.

 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

35 ¶ Et Jésus répondait et disait, tandis qu’il enseignait dans le temple: Comment les scribes disent-ils que Christ est le Fils de David?

 35 ¶ And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?

36 Car David lui-même dit par l’Esprit Saint, Le SEIGNEUR a dit à mon Seigneur, Assieds-toi à ma main droite, jusqu’à ce que j’aie fait de tes ennemis ton marchepied.

 36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37 David lui-même donc l’appelle Seigneur; et d’où alors est son fils? Et le petit peuple l’entendait volontiers.

 37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

38 ¶ Et il leur disait dans sa doctrine: Méfiez-vous des scribes qui aiment à se promener dans de longues tenues, et aiment les salutations dans les marchés,

 38 ¶ And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

39 Et les sièges importants dans les synagogues, et les places les plus élevées dans les festins:

 39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

40 Qui dévorent les maisons des veuves, et pour prétexte font de longues prières: ceux-ci recevront une plus grande damnation.

 40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

41 ¶ Et Jésus s’assit en face du trésor, et regardait comment le peuple jetait de l’argent dans le trésor: et beaucoup qui étaient riches y jetaient beaucoup.

 41 ¶ And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 Et une pauvre veuve vint, et y jeta deux pites, qui font un sou.

 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 Et il appela à lui ses disciples et il leur dit: En vérité, je vous dis, Que cette pauvre veuve a jeté plus que tous ceux qui ont jeté dans le trésor:

 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 Car ils y ont tous jeté de leur superflu; mais celle-ci a jeté de son nécessaire, tout ce qu’elle avait, même toute sa subsistance.

 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
