1 Alors Jésus fut emmené par l’Esprit dans le désert pour être tenté par le diable.

 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 Et lorsqu’il eut jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, après cela il eut faim.

 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 Et lorsque le tentateur s’approcha de lui, il dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, commande que ces pierres deviennent du pain.

 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 Mais il répondit et dit: Il est écrit, L’homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de chaque parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.

 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Alors le diable le transporte dans la ville sainte, et le met sur un pinacle du temple,

 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 Et il lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas: car il est écrit, Il ordonnera à ses anges à ton sujet: et dans leurs mains ils te porteront, de peur qu'à tout moment tu ne heurtes ton pied contre une pierre.

 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jésus lui dit: Il est encore écrit, Tu ne tenteras pas le Seigneur ton Dieu.

 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Le diable le transporte encore sur une extrêmement haute montagne, et lui montre tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire;

 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 Et lui dit: Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si tu tombes à terre et m’adores.

 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Alors Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi d’ici, Satan: car il est écrit, Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.

 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Alors le diable le laissa, et, voici, des anges vinrent et le servirent.

 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

12 ¶ Or quand Jésus apprit que Jean avait été jeté en prison, il partit en Galilée;

 12 ¶ Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

13 Et quittant Nazareth, il alla demeurer à Capernaüm, qui est au bord de la mer, sur les côtes de Zabulon et de Nephthali:

 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

14 Afin que puisse être réalisé ce qui avait été dit par Ésaïe le prophète, disant,

 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

15 La terre de Zabulon et la terre de Nephthali, sur le chemin de la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, Galilée des Gentils;

 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

16 Le peuple qui était assis dans l’obscurité a vu une grande lumière; et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et dans l’ombre de la mort, la lumière s’est levée.

 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

17 ¶ Dès ce moment-là Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire: Repentez-vous: car le royaume du ciel est à portée de la main.

 17 ¶ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

18 ¶ Et Jésus, marchant le long de la mer de Galilée, vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer: car ils étaient pêcheurs.

 18 ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

19 Et il leur dit: Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d’hommes.

 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20 Et eux aussitôt, laissèrent leurs filets, et le suivirent.

 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

21 Et partant de là, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, le fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, dans un bateau avec Zébédée, leur père, raccommodant leurs filets; et il les appela.

 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

22 Et immédiatement ils laissèrent leur bateau et leur père, et le suivirent.

 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

23 ¶ Et Jésus allait par toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, prêchant l’évangile du royaume, et guérissant toute sorte de maladies et toute sorte de maux parmi le peuple.

 23 ¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24 Et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie: et on lui amenait tous les malades qui étaient atteints de divers maux et tourments, ceux qui étaient possédés par des diables, et ceux qui étaient lunatiques, et ceux qui étaient atteints de paralysie; et il les guérissait.

 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

25 Et de grandes multitudes de personnes le suivaient de Galilée, et de la Décapole, et de Jérusalem, et de Judée, et d’au-delà du Jourdain.

 25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
