1 Et voyant les multitudes, il monta sur une montagne: et lorsqu’il s’assit, ses disciples vinrent à lui:

 1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 Et il ouvrit sa bouche, et les enseignait, disant:

 2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Bénis sont les pauvres en esprit: car à eux est le royaume du ciel.

 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Bénis sont ceux qui sont dans le deuil: car ils seront consolés.

 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Bénis sont les dociles: car ils hériteront la terre.

 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Bénis sont ceux qui ont faim et soif de droiture: car ils seront rassasiés.

 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Bénis sont les miséricordieux: car ils obtiendront miséricorde.

 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Bénis sont les purs de cœur: car ils verront Dieu.

 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Bénis sont ceux qui procurent la paix: car ils seront appelés enfants de Dieu.

 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Bénis sont ceux qui sont persécutés à cause de la droiture: car à eux est le royaume du ciel.

 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Bénis êtes-vous, quand les hommes vous injurieront, et vous persécuteront, et diront toute sorte de mal contre vous faussement, à cause de moi.

 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Réjouissez-vous et soyez extrêmement contents: car grande est votre récompense au ciel: car ainsi ont été persécutés les prophètes qui étaient avant vous.

 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 ¶ Vous êtes le sel de la terre: mais si le sel a perdu sa saveur, avec quoi le salera-t-on? Il est dès lors bon à rien, mais' à être jeté, et à être piétiné par les hommes.

 13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville qui est située sur une colline ne peut être cachée.

 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 On n’allume pas non plus une bougie, et la mettre sous un boisseau, mais sur un chandelier; et elle donne la lumière à tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.

 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Que votre lumière brille ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu’ils voient vos bonnes œuvres, et qu’ils glorifient votre Père lequel est au ciel.

 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 ¶ Ne pensez pas que je sois venu détruire la loi ou les prophètes: je ne suis pas venu pour détruire, mais pour accomplir.

 17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 Car en vérité je vous le dis, Jusqu’à ce que le ciel et la terre passent, un seul iota ou un seul trait en aucun cas ne passera de la loi, jusqu’à ce que tout soit réalisé.

 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Quiconque donc enfreindra l’un de ces plus petits commandements, et enseignera aux hommes à faire ainsi, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume du ciel: mais quiconque les fera et les enseignera, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume du ciel.

 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 Car je vous dis: Que si votre droiture ne surpasse la droiture des scribes et des Pharisiens, en aucun cas vous n’entrerez dans le royaume du ciel.

 20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 ¶ Vous avez entendu qu’il a été dit par ceux d’autrefois, Tu ne tueras pas; et quiconque tuera sera en danger de jugement:

 21 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 Mais je vous dis, Que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère sans cause sera en danger de jugement: et quiconque dira à son frère, Raca, sera en danger du Conseil: mais quiconque dira, Toi insensé, sera en danger du feu de l’enfer.

 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Par conséquent si tu apportes ton don à l’autel et que là tu te souviens que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi;

 23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Laisse là ton don devant l’autel, et va; sois d’abord réconcilié avec ton frère, et après cela viens, et offre ton don.

 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Mets-toi d’accord avec ton adversaire rapidement, pendant que tu es en chemin avec lui; de peur qu’à tout moment l’adversaire ne te livre au juge, et que le juge ne te livre à l’officier, et que tu ne sois jeté en prison.

 25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 En vérité, je te dis, Tu ne sortiras aucunement de là, jusqu’à ce que tu aies payé le dernier sou.

 26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 ¶ Vous avez entendu qu’il a été dit par ceux d’autrefois, Tu ne commettras pas d’adultère:

 27 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 Mais moi je vous dis. Que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter a déjà commis un adultère avec elle dans son cœur.

 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 Et si ton œil droit est pour toi un sujet d’offense, arrache-le, et jette-le loin de toi: car il est avantageux pour toi qu’un de tes membres périsse, et non que tout ton corps soit jeté en enfer.

 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 Et si ta main droite est pour toi un sujet d’offense, coupe-la, et jette-la loin de toi: car il est profitable pour toi qu’un de tes membres périsse, et non que tout ton corps soit jeté en enfer.

 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 Il a été dit, Que si quelqu’un répudie sa femme, qu’il lui donne une lettre de divorce:

 31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 Mais moi je vous dis, Que quiconque répudiera sa femme, si ce n’est pour cause de fornication, la fait commettre adultère: et quiconque se mariera à une femme qui est divorcée commet adultère.

 32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 ¶ Vous avez encore entendu qu’il a été dit par ceux d’autrefois, Tu ne te parjureras pas, mais tu exécuteras envers le Seigneur tes serments:

 33 ¶ Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 Mais moi je vous dis, Ne jurez pas du tout; ni par le ciel; car c’est le trône de Dieu:

 34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

35 Ni par la terre; car c’est son marchepied: ni par Jérusalem; car c’est la ville du grand Roi.

 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Ne jure pas non plus sur ta tête, car tu ne peux rendre un cheveu ni blanc ni noir.

 36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 Mais que votre parole soit: Oui, oui; Non, non: car quoi que ce soit qui vient en plus, vient du mal.

 37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 ¶ Vous avez entendu qu’il a été dit, œil pour œil, et dent pour dent:

 38 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 Mais moi, je vous dis, Ne résistez pas au mal: mais si quelqu’un te frappe à la joue droite, présente-lui l’autre aussi.

 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 Et si un homme veut te faire un procès et prendre ton manteau, laisse-lui aussi ta cape.

 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41 Et quiconque te contraindra de marcher un mille avec lui, fais-en deux avec lui.

 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Donne à celui qui te demande et ne te détourne pas de celui qui veut emprunter de toi.

 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 ¶ Vous avez entendu qu’il a été dit, Tu aimeras ton voisin, et tu haïras ton ennemi.

 43 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 Mais moi je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui se servent de vous avec malignité et vous persécutent;

 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 Afin que vous puissiez être les enfants de votre Père qui est au ciel: car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il envoie sa pluie sur les justes et sur les injustes.

 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 Car si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense avez-vous? Les publicains même n’en font-ils pas autant?

 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 Et si vous saluez vos frères seulement, que faites-vous de plus que les autres? les publicains même n’en font-ils pas autant?

 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père lequel est au ciel est parfait.

 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
