1 Prenez garde de que vous ne fassiez votre aumône devant les hommes, pour être vus d’eux: autrement vous n’avez pas de récompense de votre Père lequel est au ciel.

 1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Par conséquent lorsque tu fais ton aumône, ne fais pas sonner la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin qu’ils puissent être glorifiés par les hommes. En vérité je vous dis, Ils ont leur récompense.

 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 Mais quand tu fais l’aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta main droite:

 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 Afin que ton aumône soit faite en secret: et ton Père qui voit en secret lui-même te récompensera ouvertement.

 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 ¶ Et quand tu pries, tu ne seras pas comme sont les hypocrites: car ils aiment à prier en se tenant debout dans les synagogues et aux coins des rues, afin qu’ils puissent être vus des hommes. En vérité, je vous dis: Ils ont leur récompense.

 5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 Mais toi, quand tu pries, entre dans ton cabinet et ayant fermé ta porte, prie ton Père qui est en secret; et ton Père qui voit en secret te le récompensera ouvertement.

 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 Mais quand vous priez, n’utilisez pas de vaines répétitions, comme font les païens: car ils croient qu’ils seront entendus en parlant beaucoup.

 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Ne leur ressemblez donc pas: car votre Père sait ce dont vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez.

 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 Vous donc, priez de cette manière: Notre Père qui es au ciel, ton nom soit sanctifié.

 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Ton royaume vienne. Ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme elle l’est au ciel.

 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Donne-nous aujourd’hui notre pain quotidien.

 11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 Et pardonne-nous nos dettes, comme nous pardonnons nos débiteurs.

 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 Et ne nous conduis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du mal: car à toi appartiennent le royaume, et le pouvoir et la gloire à toujours. Amen.

 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 Car si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs infractions, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi:

 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 Mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes leurs infractions, votre Père ne pardonnera pas non plus vos infractions.

 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 ¶ De plus quand vous jeûnez, ne prenez pas comme les hypocrites, une figure triste: car ils se défigurent le visage, afin qu’ils puissent paraître aux hommes comme avoir jeûné. En vérité, je vous dis, Ils ont leur récompense.

 16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 Mais toi, quand tu jeûnes, oins ta tête et lave ton visage;

 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 Afin que tu ne paraisses pas aux hommes comme avoir jeûné, mais à ton Père qui est là en secret: et ton Père qui voit en secret te récompensera ouvertement.

 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 ¶ Ne vous amassez pas des trésors sur la terre, où les mites et la rouille détériorent, et où les voleurs enfoncent et volent:

 19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 Mais amassez-vous des trésors au ciel, où ni les mites ni la rouille ne détériorent, et où les voleurs ne fracturent ni ne volent:

 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 Car là où est votre trésor, là aussi sera votre cœur.

 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 La lumière du corps est l’œil: si donc ton œil est net, ton corps tout entier sera plein de lumière.

 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 Mais si ton œil est mauvais, ton corps tout entier sera plein d’obscurité. Si donc la lumière qui est en toi est obscurité, combien grande est cette obscurité!

 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 ¶ Aucun homme ne peut servir deux maîtres: car, ou il haïra l’un et aimera l’autre; ou bien il s’attachera à l’un et méprisera l’autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et mammon.

 24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Par conséquent je vous dis, Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie, de ce que vous mangerez ou de ce que vous boirez; ni pour votre corps de quoi vous serez vêtus. La vie n’est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que l’habillement?

 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Regardez les oiseaux: car ils ne sèment, ni ne moissonnent, ni n’amassent dans des greniers; cependant votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup mieux qu’eux?

 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Lequel d’entre vous par ses inquiétudes peut ajouter une coudée à sa stature?

 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 Et pourquoi vous inquiétez-vous au sujet d’habillement? Considérez les lis des champs, comment ils grandissent; ils ne travaillent, ni ne filent:

 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 Et cependant je vous dis, Que même Salomon dans toute sa gloire n’était pas paré comme l’un d’eux.

 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 C’est pourquoi si Dieu revêt ainsi l’herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd’hui, et qui demain sera jetée dans le four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas à plus forte raison, Ô vous de petite foi?

 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Par conséquent ne vous inquiétez pas, disant, Que mangerons-nous? Ou que boirons-nous? ou de quoi serons-nous vêtus?

 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (Car ce sont les Gentils qui recherchent toutes ces choses): car votre Père céleste sait que vous avez besoin de toutes ces choses-là.

 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 Mais cherchez premièrement le royaume de Dieu et sa droiture; et toutes ces choses vous seront ajoutées.

 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Ne vous souciez donc pas pour le lendemain: car le lendemain prendra soin de lui-même. À chaque jour suffit sa peine.

 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
