1 Car le royaume du ciel est semblable à un homme qui est un maître de maison, qui sortit tôt le matin afin d’engager des ouvriers pour son vignoble.

 1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2 Et lorsqu’il fut d’accord avec les ouvriers pour un denier par jour, il les envoya à son vignoble.

 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3 Et il sortit vers la troisième heure, et il en vit d’autres se tenant sur la place du marché sans rien faire,

 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4 Et il leur dit: Allez, vous aussi, dans le vignoble, et je vous donnerai ce qui convient. Et ils y allèrent.

 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5 Il sortit encore vers la sixième et la neuvième heure, et fit de même.

 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6 Et vers la onzième heure, il sortit et en trouva d’autres se tenant sans rien faire, et il leur dit: Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici toute la journée sans rien faire?

 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7 Ils lui dirent: Parce que personne ne nous a engagés. Il leur dit: Allez, vous aussi dans le vignoble; et vous recevrez ce qui convient.

 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

8 Ainsi lorsque le soir fut venu, le seigneur du vignoble dit à son intendant: Appelle les ouvriers, et donne-leur leur salaire, en commençant par les derniers jusqu’aux premiers.

 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9 Et lorsque vinrent ceux qui avaient été engagés vers la onzième heure, ils reçurent chaque homme un denier.

 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10 Mais lorsque les premiers vinrent, ils supposèrent qu’ils recevraient davantage; et ils reçurent de même chacun un denier.

 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11 Et quand ils le reçurent, ils murmurèrent contre le maître de la maison,

 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12 Disant: Ces derniers n’ont effectué qu’une heure, et tu les as faits égaux à nous, qui avons supporté la charge et la chaleur du jour.

 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13 Mais il répondit et dit à l’un d’eux: Ami, je ne te fais aucun tort: n’étais-tu pas d’accord avec moi pour un denier?

 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

14 Prends ce qui est à toi, et va: Je donnerai à ce dernier, c’est-à-dire comme à toi.

 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

15 Ne m’est-il pas permis de faire ce que je veux avec ce qui m’appartient? Ton œil est-il mauvais parce que je suis bon?

 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

16 Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers les derniers: car beaucoup sont appelés, mais peu sont choisis.

 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

17 ¶ Et Jésus, montant à Jérusalem, prit à part les douze disciples en chemin et leur dit:

 17 ¶ And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

18 Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem; et le Fils de l’homme sera trahi entre les mains des principaux prêtres et des scribes, et ils le condamneront à mort,

 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 Et ils le livreront aux Gentils pour le moquer, et le fouetter, et le crucifier: et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.

 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

20 ¶ Alors vint à lui la mère des enfants de Zébédée avec ses fils, l’adorant, et désirant une certaine chose de lui.

 20 ¶ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 Et il lui dit: Que veux-tu? Elle lui dit: Accorde que ceux-ci, mes deux fils puissent s’asseoir, l’un à ta main droite, et l’autre à la gauche, dans ton royaume.

 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22 Mais Jésus répondit et dit: Vous ne savez ce que vous demandez. Êtes-vous capables de boire de la coupe que je vais boire, et être baptisés du baptême dont je suis baptisé? Ils lui dirent: Nous le sommes.

 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 Et il leur dit: Vous boirez en effet de ma coupe, et serez baptisés du baptême dont je suis baptisé: mais d’être assis à ma main droite, et à ma gauche, ce n’est pas à moi à le donner, mais cela sera donné à ceux pour lesquels cela est préparé par mon Père.

 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

24 Et lorsque les dix l’entendirent, ils furent émus d’indignation contre les deux frères.

 24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

25 Mais Jésus les appela à lui et dit: Vous savez que les princes des Gentils exercent leur domination sur eux, et ceux qui sont grands exercent leur autorité sur eux.

 25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 Mais il n’en sera pas ainsi parmi vous: mais quiconque voudra être grand parmi vous, qu’il soit votre ministre.

 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 Et quiconque voudra être le chef parmi vous, qu’il soit votre serviteur:

 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 De même que le Fils de l’homme n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et donner sa vie comme une rançon pour beaucoup.

 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 Et comme ils partaient de Jéricho, une grande multitude le suivit.

 29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 ¶ Et, voici, deux hommes aveugles assis sur le bord du chemin, lorsqu’ils entendirent que Jésus passait, ils crièrent, disant: Aie miséricorde envers nous, Ô Seigneur, toi fils de David.

 30 ¶ And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

31 Et la multitude les reprit pour qu’ils se taisent: mais ils criaient encore plus, disant: Aie miséricorde envers nous, Ô Seigneur, toi Fils de David.

 31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

32 Et Jésus s’arrêta, et les appela et dit: Que voulez-vous que je vous fasse?

 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, que nos yeux puissent être ouverts.

 33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 Ainsi Jésus eut compassion d’eux, et toucha leurs yeux: et immédiatement leurs yeux reçurent la vue, et ils le suivirent.

 34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
