1 Et Jésus répondit et leur parla de nouveau en paraboles, et dit:

 1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

2 Le royaume du ciel est semblable à un certain roi qui prépara le mariage de son fils,

 2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

3 Et il envoya ses serviteurs pour appeler ceux qui avaient été invités au mariage: et ils ne voulurent pas venir.

 3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

4 De nouveau il envoya d’autres serviteurs, disant: Dites à ceux qui ont été invités, Voici, j’ai préparé mon dîner: mes bœufs et mes bêtes grasses sont tués, et toutes les choses sont prêtes: venez au mariage.

 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

5 Mais ils le prirent à la légère, et s’en allèrent, l’un à sa ferme, un autre à son commerce:

 5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

6 Et le reste prit ses serviteurs et les traita méchamment et les tua.

 6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

7 Mais lorsque le roi l’apprit, il fut courroucé: et il envoya ses armées, et tua ces meurtriers, et brûla leur ville.

 7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8 Alors il dit à ses serviteurs, Le mariage est prêt, mais ceux qui étaient invités n’en étaient pas dignes.

 8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

9 Allez donc sur les routes et invitez au mariage tous ceux que vous trouverez.

 9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

10 Ainsi ces serviteurs allèrent sur les routes et rassemblèrent autant qu’ils en trouvèrent, tant les mauvais que les bons: et beaucoup d’invités furent au mariage.

 10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

11 ¶ Et lorsque le roi entra pour voir les invités, il vit un homme qui n’était pas vêtu d’un vêtement de mariage:

 11 ¶ And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 Et il lui dit: Ami, comment es-tu venu ici sans avoir un vêtement de mariage? Et il était sans voix.

 12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13 Alors le roi dit aux serviteurs: Liez-le mains et pieds, et emportez-le, et jetez-le dans l’obscurité de dehors; là seront les pleurs et les grincements de dents.

 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 Car beaucoup sont appelés, mais peu sont choisis.

 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

15 ¶ Alors les Pharisiens allèrent et se consultèrent pour savoir comment ils pourraient l’embrouiller dans son discours.

 15 ¶ Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

16 Et ils envoyèrent vers lui leurs disciples avec les Hérodiens, disant: Maître, nous savons que tu es vrai, et que tu enseignes le chemin de Dieu en vérité, et que tu ne te soucies de personne: car tu ne regardes pas à l’apparence des hommes.

 16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

17 Dis-nous donc, Que penses-tu? Est-il ou non permis de donner tribut à César?

 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

18 Mais Jésus perçut leur immoralité, et dit: Pourquoi me tentez-vous, vous hypocrites?

 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

19 Montrez-moi la monnaie du tribut. Et ils lui apportèrent un denier.

 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

20 Et il leur dit: De qui est cette image et cette inscription?

 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

21 Ils lui dirent: De César. Alors il leur dit: Rendez donc à César les choses qui sont à César; et à Dieu les choses qui sont à Dieu.

 21 They say unto him, Cæsar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

22 Lorsqu’ils entendirent ces paroles, ils s’émerveillèrent, et le laissèrent, et s’en allèrent.

 22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

23 ¶ Le même jour les Sadducéens vinrent à lui, lesquels disent qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection, et lui demandèrent,

 23 ¶ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

24 Disant: Maître, Moïse a dit, Si un homme meurt, n’ayant pas d’enfants, son frère épousera sa femme, et suscitera semence à son frère.

 24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

25 Or il y avait parmi nous sept frères:, et le premier, après s’être marié, décéda, et n’ayant pas de postérité, il laissa sa femme à son frère:

 25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

26 De même le second aussi, et le troisième, jusqu’au septième.

 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

27 Et à la fin la femme aussi mourut.

 27 And last of all the woman died also.

28 Par conséquent à la résurrection duquel des sept sera-t-elle femme? car tous l’ont eue.

 28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

29 Jésus répondit et leur dit: Vous êtes dans l’erreur, ne connaissant ni les écritures, ni le pouvoir de Dieu.

 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 Car à la résurrection, on ne se marie, ni on est donné en mariage, mais on est comme les anges de Dieu au ciel.

 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

31 Mais quant à la résurrection des morts, n’avez-vous pas lu ce qui vous a été dit par Dieu, disant,

 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

32 Je suis le Dieu d’Abraham, et le Dieu d’Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob? Dieu n’est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants.

 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 Et lorsque la multitude entendit cela, ils étaient étonnés de sa doctrine.

 33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

34 ¶ Mais lorsque les Pharisiens apprirent qu’il avait réduit au silence les Sadducéens, ils s’assemblèrent.

 34 ¶ But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

35 Alors l’un d’eux, qui était un homme de loi, lui posa une question, le tentant, et disant:

 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Maître, quel est le grand commandement de la loi?

 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jésus lui dit: Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, et de toute ton âme, et de tout ton cerveau.

 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 C’est le premier et grand commandement.

 38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 Et le second lui est semblable, Tu aimeras ton voisin comme toi-même.

 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 De ces deux commandements dépendent toute la loi et les prophètes.

 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

41 ¶ Tandis que les Pharisiens étaient assemblés, Jésus leur demanda,

 41 ¶ While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 Disant: Que pensez-vous de Christ? De qui est-il fils? Ils lui dirent: Le Fils de David.

 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

43 Il leur dit: Comment donc David en esprit l’appelle-t-il Seigneur, disant:

 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 Le SEIGNEUR a dit à mon Seigneur, Assieds-toi à ma main droite, jusqu’à ce que j’aie fait de tes ennemis ton marchepied?

 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

45 Si donc David l’appelle Seigneur, comment est-il son fils?

 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

46 Et aucun homme ne fut capable de lui répondre un mot; et depuis ce jour-là aucun homme n’osa plus lui demander d’autres questions.

 46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
