1 Alors le royaume du ciel sera semblable à dix vierges qui prirent leurs lampes et allèrent à la rencontre de l’époux.

 1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 Et cinq d’entre elles étaient sages, et cinq étaient insensées.

 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 Celles qui étaient insensées prirent leurs lampes, et ne prirent pas d’huile avec elles:

 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 Mais les sages prirent de l’huile dans leurs récipients avec leurs lampes.

 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 Comme l’époux tardait à venir, elles s’assoupirent toutes et s’endormirent.

 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 Et à minuit il y eut un cri: Voici, l’époux vient; sortez à sa rencontre.

 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent, et ajustèrent leurs lampes.

 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 Et les insensées dirent aux sages: Donnez-nous de votre huile; car nos lampes se sont éteintes.

 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 Mais les sages répondirent, disant: Nullement; de peur qu’il n’y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous: mais allez plutôt vers ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous-mêmes.

 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 Et tandis qu’elles allaient en acheter, l’époux vint; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui au mariage: et la porte fut fermée.

 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Après cela vinrent aussi les autres vierges, disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous.

 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 Mais il répondit et dit: En vérité je vous dis, je ne vous connais pas.

 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Veillez donc, car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l’heure où le Fils de l’homme vient.

 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 ¶ Car le royaume du ciel est comme un homme partant dans un pays lointain, qui appela ses serviteurs, et leur remit ses biens.

 14 ¶ For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 Et à l’un il donna cinq talents, à un autre deux, et à l’autre un; à chaque homme selon sa capacité particulière; et il commença aussitôt son voyage.

 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Alors celui qui avait reçu cinq talents s'en alla et les négocia, et les fit rapporter cinq autres talents.

 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 Et de même, celui qui en avait reçu deux, il en gagna aussi deux autres.

 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 Mais celui qui en avait reçu un s’en alla et creusa dans la terre et cacha l’argent de son seigneur.

 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19 Longtemps après, le seigneur de ces serviteurs vient, et il leur fait rendre compte.

 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 Et ainsi celui qui avait reçu cinq talents vint et apporta cinq autres talents, disant, Seigneur, tu m’as remis cinq talents: voici, j’en ai gagné cinq autres en plus.

 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 Son seigneur lui dit, Tu as bien fait, bon et fidèle serviteur: tu as été fidèle sur peu de chose, je t’établirai dirigeant sur beaucoup de choses: entre dans la joie de ton seigneur.

 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 Celui aussi qui avait reçu deux talents vint et dit, Seigneur, tu m’as remis deux talents: voici, j’ai gagné deux autres talents en plus de ceux-là.

 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 Son seigneur lui dit, Tu as bien fait, bon et fidèle serviteur; tu as été fidèle sur peu de chose, je t’établirai dirigeant sur beaucoup de choses: entre dans la joie de ton seigneur.

 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Puis celui qui n’avait reçu qu’un talent vint et dit, seigneur, je savais que tu es un homme dur, moissonnant où tu n’as pas semé, et recueillant où tu n’as pas répandu:

 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 Et j’ai eu peur, et je suis allé et j’ai caché ton talent dans la terre: voici, tu as ici ce qui est à toi.

 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 Son seigneur répondit et lui dit, Toi serviteur pervers et paresseux, tu savais que je moissonne où je n’ai pas semé, et que je recueille où je n’ai pas répandu:

 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Tu aurais donc dû remettre mon argent aux changeurs, et alors à ma venue j’aurais reçu ce qui est à moi avec l’intérêt.

 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Prenez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents.

 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 Car à chacun qui a il sera donné, et il aura en abondance: mais de celui qui n’a pas on ôtera même ce qu’il a.

 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 Et jetez le serviteur improductif dans l’obscurité de dehors: là seront les pleurs et les grincements de dents.

 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 ¶ Lorsque le Fils de l’homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les saints anges avec lui, alors il s’assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire:

 31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 Et toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui: et il séparera les uns d’avec les autres, comme un berger sépare ses moutons d’avec les chèvres:

 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 Et il mettra les moutons à sa main droite, et les chèvres sur la gauche.

 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Alors le Roi dira à ceux à sa main droite, Venez, vous les bénis de mon Père, héritez du royaume qui a été préparé pour vous depuis la fondation du monde:

 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 Car j’ai eu faim, et vous m’avez donné à manger: j’ai eu soif, et vous m’avez donné à boire: j’étais étranger, et vous m’avez accueilli:

 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Nu et vous m’avez vêtu: j’étais malade, et vous m’avez visité: j’étais en prison, et vous êtes venus vers moi.

 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Alors les hommes droits lui répondront, disant, Seigneur, quand t’avons-nous vu avoir faim, et t’avons nourri? ou avoir soif, et t’avons donné à boire?

 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 Quand t’avons-nous vu étranger, et t’avons accueilli? ou nu et t’avons vêtu?

 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Ou quand t’avons-nous vu malade, ou en prison, et sommes-nous venus vers toi?

 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 Et le Roi répondra et leur dira, En vérité, je vous dis, D’autant que vous l’avez fait envers l’un de ces plus petits de mes frères, vous me l’avez fait à moi.

 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Puis il dira aussi à ceux à main gauche, Retirez-vous de moi, vous maudits, dans le feu sans fin, préparé pour le diable et ses anges:

 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 Car j’ai eu faim, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à manger: j’ai eu soif, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à boire:

 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 J’étais un étranger, et vous ne m’avez pas accueilli: nu et vous ne m’avez pas vêtu: malade et en prison, et vous ne m’avez pas visité.

 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Puis eux aussi lui répondront, disant, Seigneur, quand t’avons-nous vu avoir faim, ou soif, ou un étranger, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et ne t’avons-nous pas servi?

 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Alors il leur répondra, disant, En vérité, je vous dis, d’autant que vous ne l’avez pas fait à l’un de ces plus petits, vous ne me l’avez pas fait.

 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 Et ceux-ci iront au châtiment sans fin: mais les hommes droits à la vie éternelle.

 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
