1 Et il arriva, lorsque Jésus eut achevé tous ces dires qu’il dit à ses disciples:

 1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

2 Vous savez que dans deux jours c'est la fête de la pâque, et que le Fils de l’homme est trahi pour être crucifié.

 2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

3 Alors les principaux prêtres, les scribes et les anciens du peuple s’assemblèrent dans le palais du grand prêtre, qui était appelé Caïphe,

 3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

4 Et tinrent conseil afin qu’ils puissent prendre Jésus par ruse et de le tuer.

 4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

5 Mais ils disaient: Pas le jour de la fête, de peur qu’il n’y ait du tumulte parmi le peuple.

 5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

6 ¶ Or lorsque Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux,

 6 ¶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7 Une femme vint à lui ayant une boîte d’albâtre, pleine d’un baume très précieux, et le répandit sur sa tête tandis qu’il était à table.

 7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

8 Mais quand ses disciples le virent, ils furent indignés, disant: Quel est l’objet de ce gaspillage?

 8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

9 Car ce baume aurait pu être vendu très cher, et l’argent donné aux pauvres.

 9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

10 Lorsque Jésus le comprit, il leur dit: Pourquoi troublez-vous la femme? car elle a effectué une bonne œuvre envers moi.

 10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

11 Car vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous; mais vous ne m’avez pas toujours.

 11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

12 Car en cela elle a répandu ce baume sur mon corps, elle l’a fait en vue de mon ensevelissement.

 12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

13 En vérité, je vous dis, En quelque lieu que cet évangile sera prêché dans le monde entier, ce que cette femme a fait sera aussi raconté en mémoire d’elle.

 13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

14 ¶ Alors l’un des douze, appelé Judas Iscariot, s’en alla vers les principaux prêtres,

 14 ¶ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

15 Et leur dit: Que me donnerez-vous, et je vous le livrerai? Et ils convinrent avec lui trente pièces d’argent.

 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

16 Et à partir de ce moment il chercha une opportunité pour le trahir.

 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

17 ¶ Or le premier jour de la fête des pains sans levain, les disciples vinrent à Jésus, lui disant: Où veux-tu que nous te préparions ce qu'il faut pour manger la pâque?

 17 ¶ Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

18 Et il dit: Allez dans la ville chez tel homme, et dites-lui, Le Maître dit, Mon heure est à portée de la main; je garderai la pâque dans ta maison avec mes disciples.

 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

19 Et les disciples firent comme Jésus leur avait ordonné; et ils préparèrent la pâque.

 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

20 Or, quand le soir fut venu, il se mit à table avec les douze.

 20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

21 Et comme ils mangeaient, il dit: En vérité je vous dis, que l’un de vous me trahira.

 21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

22 Et ils furent extrêmement attristés, et ils commencèrent chacun d’eux à lui dire: Seigneur, est-ce moi?

 22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

23 Et il répondit et dit: Celui qui trempe sa main dans le plat avec moi, celui-là me trahira.

 23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

24 Le Fils de l’homme s’en va comme il est écrit de lui, mais malheur à cet homme par qui le Fils de l’homme est trahi! il aurait mieux valu à cet homme-là de n’être pas né.

 24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

25 Alors Judas, qui le trahissait, répondit et dit: Maître, est-ce moi? Il lui dit: Tu l’as dit.

 25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

26 ¶ Et comme ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain, et le bénit, et le rompit et le donna à ses disciples et dit: Prenez, mangez; ceci est mon corps.

 26 ¶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 Et il prit la coupe, et remercia, et il la leur donna, disant: Buvez-en tous;

 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 Car ceci est mon sang du nouveau testament, lequel est versé pour beaucoup, pour la rémission des péchés.

 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 Mais je vous dis, que désormais je ne boirai plus de ce fruit de la vigne, jusqu’au jour où je le boirai nouveau avec vous dans le royaume de mon Père.

 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

30 Et après qu’ils eurent chanté un hymne, ils partirent pour le mont des Oliviers.

 30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

31 Alors Jésus leur dit: Vous serez tous offensés cette nuit à cause de moi: car il est écrit, Je frapperai le berger, et les moutons du troupeau seront dispersés de tous côtés.

 31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

32 Mais après que je serai ressuscité, j’irai avant vous en Galilée.

 32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Pierre répondit et lui dit: Quand même tous les hommes seraient offensés à cause de toi, cependant je ne serai jamais offensé.

 33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jésus lui dit: En vérité je te dis, Que cette nuit, avant que le coq ait chanté, tu me renieras trois fois.

 34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Pierre lui dit: Bien que si je devais mourir avec toi, toutefois je ne te renierai pas. Et tous les disciples dirent de même.

 35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

36 ¶ Alors Jésus vient avec eux jusqu’à un lieu appelé Gethsémané, et dit aux disciples: Asseyez-vous ici, pendant que je vais prier là-bas.

 36 ¶ Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

37 Et il prit avec lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, et il commença à être attristé et très accablé.

 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

38 Alors il leur dit: Mon âme est extrêmement attristée, même jusqu’à la mort: restez ici, et veillez avec moi.

 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 Et il alla un peu plus loin, et tomba sur son visage, et pria, disant: Ô mon Père, s’il est possible, que cette coupe passe loin de moi: néanmoins non pas comme je veux, mais comme tu veux.

 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 Et il vient vers les disciples, et les trouve endormis, et il dit à Pierre: Quoi, ne pouviez-vous pas veiller une heure avec moi?

 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Veillez et priez, afin que vous n’entriez pas en tentation: l’esprit en effet est disposé, mais la chair est faible.

 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

42 Il s’en alla encore pour la seconde fois, et pria, disant: Ô mon Père, si cette coupe ne peut passer loin de moi, sans que je la boive, que ta volonté soit faite.

 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

43 Et il vint et les trouva de nouveau endormis: car leurs yeux étaient alourdis.

 43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

44 Et il les laissa, et s’en alla de nouveau, et pria pour la troisième fois, disant les mêmes paroles.

 44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

45 Puis il vient vers ses disciples, et leur dit: Continuez de dormir maintenant, et reposez-vous: voici, l’heure est à portée de la main, et le Fils de l’homme est trahi entre les mains des pécheurs.

 45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

46 Levez-vous, allons: voici, il est à portée de la main celui qui me trahit.

 46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

47 ¶ Et tandis qu’il parlait encore, voici, Judas, l’un des douze vint, et avec lui une grande multitude avec des épées et des bâtons, venant de la part des principaux prêtres et des anciens du peuple.

 47 ¶ And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

48 Or celui qui le trahissait leur donna un signe, disant: Celui que j’embrasserai, c’est celui-là même: tenez-le fermement.

 48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

49 Et tout de suite il vint à Jésus, et dit: Salut, maître; et l’embrassa.

 49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

50 Et Jésus lui dit: Ami, pourquoi es-tu venu? Alors ils vinrent, et mirent les mains sur Jésus, et le prirent.

 50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

51 Et, voici, un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus étendit sa main et tira son épée, et frappa un serviteur du grand prêtre, et lui enleva son oreille.

 51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.

52 Alors Jésus lui dit: Remets ton épée à sa place: car tous ceux qui prendront l’épée périront par l’épée.

 52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

53 Penses-tu que je ne puisse pas maintenant prier mon Père, et il me donnerait à présent plus de douze légions d’anges?

 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 Mais comment alors seront réalisées les écritures, que cela doit être ainsi?

 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

55 À la même heure, Jésus dit aux multitudes: Êtes-vous sortis avec des épées et des bâtons, comme après un voleur, pour me prendre? J’étais tous les jours assis parmi vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m’avez pas saisi.

 55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

56 Mais tout ceci a été fait, afin que les écritures des prophètes puissent être réalisées. Alors tous les disciples l’abandonnèrent et s’enfuirent.

 56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

57 ¶ Et ceux qui avaient saisi Jésus l’emmenèrent chez Caïphe le grand prêtre, où les scribes et les anciens étaient assemblés.

 57 ¶ And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

58 Mais Pierre le suivait de loin jusqu’au palais du grand prêtre, et y entra, et s’assit avec les serviteurs pour voir la fin.

 58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

59 Or les principaux prêtres et les anciens, et tout le conseil cherchaient quelque faux témoignage contre Jésus, pour le mettre à mort;

 59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

60 Mais n’en trouvèrent aucun: oui, bien que beaucoup de faux témoins soient venus, toutefois ils n’en trouvèrent aucun. Enfin deux faux témoins vinrent,

 60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

61 Et dirent: Cet individu a dit, Je suis capable de détruire le temple de Dieu, et le rebâtir en trois jours.

 61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

62 Et le grand prêtre se leva et lui dit: Ne réponds-tu rien? Qu’est-ce que ceux-ci témoignent contre toi?

 62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

63 Mais Jésus se tut. Et le grand prêtre répondit et lui dit: Je t’adjure, par le Dieu vivant, que tu nous dises si tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu.

 63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

64 Jésus lui dit: Tu l’as dit: néanmoins je vous dis, Désormais vous verrez le Fils de l’homme assis à la main droite du pouvoir, et venant dans les nuages du ciel.

 64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

65 Alors le grand prêtre déchira ses effets, disant: Il a blasphémé; qu’avons-nous encore besoin de témoins? voici, vous avez maintenant entendu son blasphème.

 65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

66 Qu'en pensez-vous? Ils répondirent et dirent: Il est coupable de mort.

 66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

67 Alors ils crachèrent sur son visage, et lui donnèrent des coups de poing; et d’autres le frappaient avec la paume de leurs mains,

 67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

68 Disant: Prophétise-nous, toi Christ, Qui est celui qui t’a frappé?

 68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

69 ¶ Or Pierre était assis à l’extérieur dans le palais: et une jeune fille vint vers lui, disant: Toi aussi tu étais avec Jésus de Galilée.

 69 ¶ Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70 Mais il le nia devant eux tous, disant: Je ne sais ce que tu dis.

 70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 Et après qu’il fut sorti par le porche, une autre domestitque le vit, à ceux qui étaient là: Cet individu aussi était avec Jésus de Naza.

 71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

72 Et de nouveau il le nia avec serment: Je ne connais pas cet homme-là.

 72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 E après un moment, ceux qui se tenaient là vinrent vers lui, et dirent à Pierre: Assurément tu es aussi l’un d’eux; car ton langage te révèle.

 73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

74 Alors il commença à maudire et à jurer, disant: Je ne connais pas l’homme. Et immédiatement le coq chanta.

 74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

75 Et Pierre se souvint de la parole de Jésus, qui lui avait dit, Avant que le coq ait chanté, tu m’auras renié trois fois. Et il sortit, et pleura amèrement.

 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
