1 S’il y a donc quelque consolation en Christ, si quelque réconfort d’amour, si quelque association de l’Esprit, si quelques entrailles et miséricordes,

 1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Comblez ma joie, pour que vous ayez une même disposition, ayant le même amour, étant d’un seul accord, d’une seule intention.

 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Que rien ne soit fait par querelle ou vaine gloire; mais avec modestie d’intention que chacun estime l’autre meilleur que lui-même.

 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Que chaque homme ne regarde pas seulement à ses propres intérêts, mais que chaque homme aussi veille aux intérêts des autres.

 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Que ce cerveau soit en vous, lequel était aussi en Christ Jésus:

 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Qui, étant en la forme de Dieu, n’a pas pensé comme usurpation d’être égal à Dieu:

 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 Mais s’est fait lui-même sans réputation, et prit sur lui la forme d’un serviteur, et fut fait à la ressemblance des hommes:

 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 Et étant trouvé de la façon d’un homme, il s’humilia, et devint obéissant jusqu’à la mort, c’est-à-dire la mort de la croix.

 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 C’est pourquoi Dieu aussi l’a hautement exalté, et lui donna un nom lequel est au-dessus de tout nom:

 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 Afin qu’au nom de Jésus tout genou devra se ployer, des choses au ciel, et des choses sur la terre, et des choses sous la terre;

 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 Et que toute langue devra confesser que Jésus Christ est Seigneur, à la gloire de Dieu le Père.

 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 C’est pourquoi, mes bien-aimés, comme vous avez toujours obéi, non pas comme en ma présence seulement, mais maintenant beaucoup plus en mon absence, exercez votre propre salut avec crainte et tremblement.

 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 Car c’est Dieu qui agit en vous et le vouloir et le faire selon son bon plaisir.

 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 Faites toutes choses sans murmures et sans disputes:

 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 Afin que vous puissiez être irréprochables et inoffensifs, les fils de Dieu, irrépréhensibles, au milieu d’une nation tordue et perverse, parmi laquelle vous brillez comme des lumières dans le monde;

 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 Présentant la parole de vie; pour que je puisse me réjouir au jour de Christ, que je n’ai pas couru en vain, ni ne me suis-je adonné en vain.

 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 Oui, et si même je suis offert sur le sacrifice et le service de votre foi, j’en suis joyeux, et je m’en réjouis avec vous tous.

 17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 Pour le même motif vous aussi ayez de la joie, et réjouissez-vous avec moi.

 18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 Mais j’ai confiance dans le Seigneur Jésus d’envoyer Timothée bientôt vers vous, afin qu’aussi je puisse être bien réconforté, lorsque j’aurai connu votre état.

 19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20 Car je n’ai personne ayant de semblables pensées, qui se souciera naturellement de votre état.

 20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 Car tous cherchent leurs propres intérêts, non pas les choses qui sont de Jésus Christ.

 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

22 Mais vous savez l’épreuve qu’il a subie, que, tel un fils avec le père, il a servi avec moi dans l’évangile.

 22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 J’espère donc vous l’envoyer prochainement, dès que j’aurai vu comment cela se passera avec moi.

 23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 Mais j’ai confiance dans le Seigneur que moi-même aussi je viendrai dans peu de temps.

 24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 Cependant j’ai pensé qu’il était nécessaire de vous envoyer Épaphrodite, mon frère, et compagnon de labeur, et frère d’armes, mais votre messager, et celui qui a pourvu à mes besoins.

 25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26 Car vous tous lui manquez, et il était rempli de tristesse, parce que vous aviez appris qu’il avait été malade.

 26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 Car, en effet il a été malade près de la mort: mais Dieu lui fit miséricorde; et non pas à lui seulement, mais à moi aussi, de peur que je n’aie tristesse sur tristesse.

 27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 Je l’ai donc envoyé avec d’autant plus de soin, afin que lorsque vous le reverrez, vous puissiez vous réjouir, et que je puisse être moins attristé.

 28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 Recevez-le donc dans le Seigneur avec toute gaieté; et ayez de l’estime pour de tels hommes:

 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30 À cause de l’œuvre de Christ il fut près de la mort, n’ayant eu aucun égard pour sa vie, pour suppléer à ce qui manquait à votre service envers moi.

 30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
