1 Mon fils, n'oublie pas ma loi; mais que ton cœur garde mes commandements:

 1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 Car un prolongement de jours, et une longue vie, et la paix, t’ajouteront-ils.

 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3 Ne laisse pas la miséricorde et la vérité t'abandonner: lie-les à ton cou; écris-les sur la table de ton cœur:

 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4 Ainsi trouveras-tu faveur et bonne compréhension à la vue de Dieu et de l’homme.

 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5 ¶ Confie-toi dans le SEIGNEUR de tout ton cœur; et ne t'appuie pas sur ta propre compréhension.

 5 ¶ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 Dans tous tes chemins reconnais-le, et il dirigera tes sentiers.

 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 ¶ Ne sois pas sage à tes propres yeux: crains le SEIGNEUR, et retire-toi du mal.

 7 ¶ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

8 Ce sera la santé pour ton nombril, et la moelle pour tes os.

 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

9 Honore le SEIGNEUR de tes biens et des prémices de tout ton rapport:

 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 Ainsi tes greniers se rempliront d'abondance, et tes pressoirs déborderont de vin nouveau.

 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11 ¶ Mon fils, ne méprise pas le châtiment du SEIGNEUR; ne te lasse pas non plus de sa correction:

 11 ¶ My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

12 Car celui que le SEIGNEUR aime il le discipline; c’est-à-dire comme un père le fils en qui il se délecte.

 12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

13 ¶ Heureux est l'homme qui trouve la sagesse, et l'homme qui obtient la compréhension.

 13 ¶ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14 Car son achat est meilleur que l’achat de l'argent, et son gain que l'or fin.

 14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15 Elle est plus précieuse que les rubis: et toutes les choses que tu peux désirer ne peuvent pas lui être comparées.

 15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16 La longévité des jours est dans sa main droite; et dans sa main gauche richesse et honneur.

 16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

17 Ses chemins sont des chemins agréables, et tous ses sentiers sont paix.

 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18 Elle est un arbre de vie pour ceux qui la saisissent: et heureuse est toute personne qui la retient.

 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

19 Le SEIGNEUR par la sagesse a fondé la terre; par la compréhension a-t-il établi les cieux.

 19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

20 Par sa connaissance, les abîmes sont rompus, et les nuages distillent la rosée.

 20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21 ¶ Mon fils, ne les laisse pas se retirer de tes yeux: garde la sagesse saine et la discrétion:

 21 ¶ My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22 Ainsi seront-elles la vie de ton âme, et la grâce à ton cou.

 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

23 Alors tu marcheras dans ton chemin en sécurité, et ton pied ne trébuchera pas.

 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24 Lorsque tu te coucheras, tu ne seras pas effrayé: oui, tu te coucheras, et ton sommeil sera doux.

 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25 Ne sois pas effrayé d’une frayeur soudaine, ni de la désolation des hommes immoraux lorsqu’elle arrive.

 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26 Car le SEIGNEUR sera ta confiance, et gardera ton pied d’être pris.

 26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27 ¶ Ne retiens pas le bien de ceux à qui il est dû, lorsque ta main a le pouvoir de le faire.

 27 ¶ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Ne dis pas à ton voisin, Va et reviens, et demain je donnerai; lorsque tu l’as près de toi.

 28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

29 N’invente pas de mal contre ton voisin, voyant qu’il demeure en sécurité près de toi.

 29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

30 ¶ Ne te querelle pas avec un homme sans motif, s'il ne t'a pas fait de tort.

 30 ¶ Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

31 N’envie pas l’oppresseur, et ne choisis aucun de ses chemins.

 31 ¶ Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

32 Car l’obstiné est en abomination au SEIGNEUR: mais son secret est avec les hommes droits.

 32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

33 ¶ La malédiction du SEIGNEUR est dans la maison des hommes immoraux: mais il bénit l'habitation des justes.

 33 ¶ The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

34 Assurément il dédaigne les dédaigneux: mais il donne grâce aux modestes.

 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

35 Les sages hériteront la gloire: mais la honte sera la promotion des insensés.

 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
