1 Mon fils, garde mes paroles, et accumule en toi mes commandements.

 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Garde mes commandements, et vis; et ma loi comme la prunelle de ton œil.

 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Lie-les sur tes doigts, écris-les sur la table de ton cœur.

 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

4 Dis à la sagesse, Tu es ma sœur; et appelle la compréhension ta parente:

 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

5 Afin qu’elles te gardent de la femme inconnue, de l’étrangère laquelle flatte de ses paroles.

 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

6 ¶ Car depuis la fenêtre de ma maison je regardais à travers ma croisée,

 6 ¶ For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

7 Et je contemplai parmi les simplets, je discernai parmi les jeunes gens, un jeune homme dépourvu de compréhension,

 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

8 Passant dans la rue près de son coin; et il prit le chemin de sa maison,

 8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

9 Au crépuscule, dans la soirée, dans la nuit noire et obscure:

 9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

10 Et, voici, une femme vint à sa rencontre avec les atours d’une prostituée et la ruse dans le cœur.

 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

11 (Elle est bruyante et entêtée; ses pieds ne demeurent pas dans sa maison:

 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

12 Maintenant est-elle dehors, maintenant dans les rues, et elle se tient en embuscade à chaque coin).

 12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

13 Ainsi elle l’attrapa, et l'embrassa, et d'un visage effronté lui dit:

 13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

14 J'ai des offrandes de paix avec moi; aujourd'hui ai-je acquitté mes vœux.

 14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

15 C'est pourquoi suis-je sortie pour te rencontrer, diligemment pour chercher ton visage, et je t'ai trouvé.

 15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

16 J'ai orné mon lit de couvertures faites de tapisserie, d’ouvrages taillés, de fin lin d'Égypte.

 16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 J'ai parfumé mon lit de myrrhe, d'aloès, et de cinnamome.

 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Viens, prenons notre plein d’amour jusqu'au matin: consolons-nous dans la volupté.

 18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

19 Car le maître n'est pas à la maison, il est parti pour un long voyage:

 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

20 Il a pris un sac d'argent avec lui, et il reviendra à la maison au jour prévu.

 20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

21 Par beaucoup de ses beaux discours, elle le fit céder, par la flatterie de ses lèvres elle le contraignit.

 21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

22 Il est allé après elle aussitôt, comme un bœuf va à l’abattoir, ou comme un insensé au châtiment des entraves;

 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

23 Jusqu'à ce qu’une flèche transperce son foie; comme un oiseau se hâte vers le piège et ne sait pas qu'il y va de sa vie.

 23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

24 ¶ Écoutez-moi donc maintenant, ô vous enfants, et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche.

 24 ¶ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

25 Ne laisse pas ton cœur s’incliner vers ses chemins, ne t'égare pas dans ses sentiers.

 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

26 Car elle a jeté à terre beaucoup de blessés: oui, beaucoup d’hommes robustes ont été tués par elle.

 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

27 Sa maison est le chemin de l’enfer, descendant vers les chambres de la mort.

 27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
