1 Les Proverbes de Salomon. Un fils sage rend un père content: mais un fils insensé est la tristesse de sa mère.

 1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

2 Les trésors de l’immoralité ne profitent pas: mais la droiture délivre de la mort.

 2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

3 Le SEIGNEUR ne permettra pas que l'âme de l’homme droit soit affamée: mais il rejette la substance des hommes immoraux.

 3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

4 Il devient pauvre celui qui agit d'une main paresseuse: mais la main du diligent le rend riche.

 4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5 Celui qui amasse en été est un fils sage: mais celui qui dort durant la moisson est un fils qui fait honte.

 5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6 Des bénédictions sont sur la tête des justes: mais la violence couvre la bouche des hommes immoraux.

 6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7 La mémoire du juste est bénie: mais le nom des hommes immoraux pourrira.

 7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

8 Les hommes sages de cœur recevront les commandements: mais un bavard insensé tombera.

 8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

9 Celui qui marche avec intégrité marche en sûreté: mais celui qui pervertit ses chemins sera connu.

 9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10 Celui qui cligne de l'œil cause des douleurs: mais un bavard insensé tombera.

 10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

11 La bouche d’un homme droit est une source de vie: mais la violence couvre la bouche des hommes immoraux.

 11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12 La haine incite les querelles: mais l'amour couvre tous les péchés.

 12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

13 Sur les lèvres de celui qui a de la compréhension se trouve la sagesse: mais un bâton est pour le dos de celui qui est dépourvu de compréhension.

 13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14 Les hommes sages accumulent la connaissance: mais la bouche de l’insensé est près de la destruction.

 14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15 La fortune de l’homme riche est sa ville forte: la destruction des pauvres, c'est leur pauvreté.

 15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 Le labeur des hommes droits conduit à la vie: le fruit des hommes immoraux au péché.

 16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

17 Il est sur le chemin de la vie celui qui garde l'instruction: mais celui qui refuse la réprimande s'égare.

 17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

18 Celui qui masque la haine par des lèvres mensongères, et celui qui profère une calomnie est un insensé.

 18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

19 Dans la multitude de paroles le péché ne fait pas défaut: mais celui qui retient ses lèvres est sage.

 19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

20 La langue des justes est comme de l'argent de choix: le cœur des hommes immoraux est de peu de valeur.

 20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

21 Les lèvres des hommes droits en nourrissent beaucoup: mais les insensés meurent par manque de sagesse.

 21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

22 La bénédiction du SEIGNEUR, elle rend riche, et il n'y ajoute aucune douleur.

 22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

23 C’est comme un divertissement pour un insensé de commettre la malveillance: mais un homme de compréhension a de la sagesse.

 23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24 La crainte de l’homme immoral, elle viendra sur lui: mais le désir des hommes droits leur sera accordé.

 24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 Comme le tourbillon passe, ainsi l’homme immoral n'est plus: mais l’homme droit est un fondement sempiternel.

 25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 Comme le vinaigre est aux dents, et comme la fumée est aux yeux, ainsi est l’indolent à ceux qui l'envoient.

 26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 La crainte du SEIGNEUR prolonge les jours: mais les années des hommes immoraux seront raccourcies.

 27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 L'espérance des hommes droits sera exultation: mais l'attente des hommes immoraux périra.

 28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 Le chemin du SEIGNEUR est vigueur pour les hommes intègres: mais la destruction sera pour les ouvriers de l’'iniquité.

 29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 Les hommes droits ne seront jamais enlevés: mais les hommes immoraux n'habiteront pas la terre.

 30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31 La bouche des justes produit la sagesse: mais la langue obstinée sera coupée.

 31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32 Les lèvres des hommes droits savent ce qui est acceptable: mais la bouche des hommes immoraux exprime l’obstination.

 32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
