1 Une fausse balance est en abomination au SEIGNEUR: mais le juste poids est son délice.

 1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

2 Lorsque l'orgueil vient, alors vient la honte: mais la sagesse est avec les modestes.

 2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3 L'intégrité des hommes intègres les guidera: mais la perversité des transgresseurs les détruira.

 3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 La richesse ne sert à rien au jour du courroux: mais la droiture délivre de la mort.

 4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

5 La droiture de l'homme parfait dirigera son chemin: mais l’homme immoral tombera par sa propre immoralité.

 5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 La droiture des hommes intègres les délivrera: mais les transgresseurs seront pris par leur propre vilenie.

 6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

7 Lorsqu’un homme immoral meurt, son attente périt: et l'espérance des hommes injustes périt.

 7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

8 L’homme droit est délivré de la difficulté, et l’homme immoral y vient à sa place.

 8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 Un hypocrite avec sa bouche détruit son voisin: mais au moyen de la connaissance le juste sera délivré.

 9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 Lorsque tout va bien pour les hommes droits, la ville se réjouit: et lorsque les immoraux périssent, il y a clameur.

 10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 Par la bénédiction des hommes intègres la ville est exaltée: mais elle est renversée par la bouche des hommes immoraux.

 11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 Celui qui est dépourvu de sagesse méprise son voisin: mais un homme de compréhension se tait.

 12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 Un rapporteur révèle les secrets: mais celui qui est d'un esprit fidèle dissimule la chose.

 13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 Où il n’y a pas de conseil, le peuple tombe: mais par la multitude de conseillers il y a sécurité.

 14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 Celui qui se porte garant pour un étranger en sera piqué au vif: et celui qui hait le cautionnement est assuré.

 15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 Une femme gracieuse retient l'honneur: et les hommes forts retiennent la richesse.

 16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17 L'homme miséricordieux fait du bien à sa propre âme: mais celui qui est cruel trouble sa propre chair.

 17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 L’homme immoral fait une œuvre trompeuse: mais celui qui sème la droiture aura une rétribution sûre.

 18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 Comme la droiture conduit à la vie, ainsi celui qui poursuit le mal, le poursuit jusqu’à sa propre mort.

 19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20 Ceux qui sont obstinés de cœur sont en abomination au SEIGNEUR: mais ceux qui sont intègres dans leur chemin lui sont son délice.

 20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 Bien que joignant main avec main, les hommes immoraux ne resteront pas impunis: mais la semence des hommes droits sera délivrée.

 21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 Comme un anneau d'or au groin d'un pourceau, ainsi est une belle femme qui est dépourvue de discrétion.

 22 As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 Le désir des hommes droits n'est que le bien: mais l'attente des hommes immoraux est le courroux.

 23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 Il y a celui qui disperse, et cependant s’accroît; et il y a celui qui retient plus qu’il ne faut, mais cela le conduit à la pauvreté.

 24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 L'âme généreuse sera rendue engraissée: et celui qui arrose sera lui-même arrosé.

 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 Celui qui retient le maïs, le peuple le maudira: mais la bénédiction sera sur la tête de celui qui le vend.

 26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 Celui qui recherche diligemment le bien se procure de la faveur: mais qui recherche la malveillance, cela lui arrivera.

 27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 Celui qui se confie en sa richesse tombera: mais les hommes droits fleuriront comme une branche.

 28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 Celui qui perturbe sa propre maison héritera du vent: et l’insensé deviendra serviteur de l’homme sage de cœur.

 29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 Le fruit de l’homme droit est un arbre de vie; et celui qui gagne des âmes est sage.

 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 Voici, l’homme droit sera rétribué sur la terre: combien plus l’homme immoral et le pécheur.

 31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
