1 Quiconque aime l'instruction aime la connaissance: mais celui qui hait la réprimande est ignorant.

 1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

2 Un homme bon obtient la faveur du SEIGNEUR: mais un homme aux desseins immoraux le condamnera-t-il.

 2 A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 Un homme ne sera pas établi par l’immoralité: mais la racine des hommes droits ne sera pas déplacée.

 3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 Une femme vertueuse est une couronne pour son mari: mais celle qui fait honte est comme de la pourriture dans ses os.

 4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 Les pensées des hommes droits sont droites: mais les conseils des hommes immoraux sont tromperie.

 5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 Les paroles des hommes immoraux se tiennent en embuscade pour verser le sang: mais la bouche des intègres les délivrera.

 6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 Les hommes immoraux sont renversés, et ne sont plus: mais la maison des hommes droits restera debout.

 7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 Un homme sera approuvé selon sa sagesse: mais celui qui a un cœur pervers sera méprisé.

 8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 Celui qui est méprisé, et qui a un serviteur, vaut mieux que celui qui s'honore lui-même et qui manque de pain.

 9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 Un homme droit estime la vie de sa bête: mais les tendres miséricordes des hommes immoraux sont cruelles.

 10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 Celui qui laboure sa terre sera rassasié de pain: mais celui qui suit les personnes vaines est dépourvu de compréhension.

 11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

12 L’homme immoral désire le filet des hommes malveillants: mais la racine des hommes droits produit du fruit.

 12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 L’homme immoral est pris au piège par la transgression de ses lèvres: mais le juste sortira de la difficulté.

 13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

14 Un homme sera rassasié de biens par le fruit de sa bouche: et la rétribution des mains d’un homme lui sera rendue.

 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 Le chemin de l’insensé est droit à ses propres yeux: mais celui qui écoute le conseil est sage.

 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

16 Le courroux d’un insensé est immédiatement connu: mais un homme prudent couvre sa honte.

 16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

17 Celui qui dit la vérité fait connaître la droiture: mais un faux témoin, la tromperie.

 17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

18 Il y a celui qui parle comme une épée qui transperce: mais la langue des sages est saine.

 18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

19 La lèvre de vérité sera établie pour toujours: mais une langue menteuse n’est que pour un moment.

 19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 La tromperie est dans le cœur de ceux qui imaginent le mal: mais aux conseillers de la paix est la joie.

 20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21 Aucun malheur n'arrivera au juste: mais les hommes immoraux seront remplis de malveillance.

 21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

22 Les lèvres menteuses sont en abomination au SEIGNEUR: mais ceux qui agissent sincèrement sont son délice.

 22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

23 Un homme prudent dissimule sa connaissance, mais le cœur des insensés proclame l’absurdité.

 23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 La main des diligents dominera: mais les oisifs seront tributaires.

 24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

25 La tristesse dans le cœur d'un homme le rend voûté: mais une bonne parole le rend content.

 25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

26 L’homme droit est plus excellent que son voisin: mais le chemin des immoraux les fourvoie.

 26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

27 Lhomme oisif ne rôtit pas ce qu’il a pris en chassant: mais la substance de l'homme diligent est précieuse.

 27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

28 Dans le chemin de la droiture est la vie; et sur le sentier de celle-ci il n’y a pas de mort.

 28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
