1 Les préparations du cœur de l'homme, et la réponse de la langue vient du SEIGNEUR

 1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

2 Tous les chemins d'un homme sont purs à ses propres yeux; mais le SEIGNEUR pèse les esprits.

 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

3 Remets tes œuvres au SEIGNEUR, et tes pensées seront établies.

 3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

4 Le SEIGNEUR a fait toutes choses pour lui-même: oui, même l’homme immoral pour le jour du malheur.

 4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Tout homme qui est orgueilleux de cœur est en abomination au SEIGNEUR: bien que joignant main avec main, il ne sera pas impuni.

 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 Par la miséricorde et la vérité l'iniquité est purgée: et par la crainte du SEIGNEUR les hommes se retirent du mal.

 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

7 Lorsque les comportements d'un homme plaisent au SEIGNEUR, il met même ses ennemis en paix avec lui.

 7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 Mieux vaut peu avec droiture que de grands revenus sans droit.

 8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

9 Le cœur d'un homme imagine son chemin: mais le SEIGNEUR dirige ses pas.

 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

10 Une sentence divine est sur les lèvres du roi: sa bouche ne transgresse pas dans le jugement.

 10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

11 Un poids juste et une balance sont du SEIGNEUR: tous les poids du sac sont son œuvre.

 11 A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 C'est une abomination pour les rois de commettre l’immoralité: car le trône est établi par la droiture.

 12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Les lèvres droites sont le délice des rois; et ils aiment celui qui parle selon la vérité.

 13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14 Le courroux d’un roi est comme des messagers de mort: mais un homme sage l'apaisera.

 14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15 Dans la lumière du visage du roi est la vie; et sa faveur est comme un nuage de la dernière pluie.

 15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 Combien est-il bien meilleur d’obtenir la sagesse que l'or! et obtenir la compréhension est préférable à l'argent!

 16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 La grande route des hommes droits, c'est de se retirer du mal: celui qui garde son chemin préserve son âme.

 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 L'orgueil arrive avant la destruction, et un esprit hautain avant une chute.

 18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Mieux vaut être d'un esprit humble avec les modestes, que de partager le butin avec les orgueilleux.

 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 Celui qui gère une affaire avec sagesse trouvera le bien: et quiconque se confie dans le SEIGNEUR, heureux est-il.

 20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

21 Le sage de cœur sera appelé prudent: et la douceur des lèvres augmente le savoir.

 21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 La compréhension est une source de vie pour celui qui la possède: mais l'instruction des insensés est folie.

 22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

23 Le cœur du sage instruit sa bouche, et ajoute le savoir à ses lèvres.

 23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

24 Les paroles agréables sont comme un rayon de miel, douceur pour l'âme, et santé pour les os.

 24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 Il y a un chemin qui semble droit à un homme, mais sa fin sont les chemins de la mort.

 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 Celui qui travaille, travaille pour lui-même; car sa bouche en dépend.

 26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

27 Un homme impie déterre le mal: et sur ses lèvres il y a comme un feu brûlant.

 27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28 Un homme obstiné sème la querelle: et le chuchoteur divise les meilleurs amis.

 28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 Un homme violent entraîne son voisin et le conduit sur le chemin qui n'est pas bon.

 29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

30 Il ferme ses yeux pour imaginer des choses opiniâtres: en remuant ses lèvres il fait arriver le mal.

 30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

31 Les cheveux blancs sont une couronne de gloire, s'ils sont trouvés dans le chemin de la droiture.

 31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

32 Celui qui est lent à la colère vaut mieux que le brave; et celui qui maîtrise son esprit que celui qui prend une ville.

 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33 Le sort est jeté sur les genoux; mais toutes ses dispositions viennent du SEIGNEUR.

 33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
