1 Mieux vaut le pauvre qui marche dans son intégrité, que celui dont les lèvres sont perverses et est un insensé.

 1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 Également, que l’âme soit sans connaissance, ce n'est pas bon; et celui qui se hâte avec ses pieds pèche.

 2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

3 L’absurdité de l'homme pervertit son chemin: et son cœur s'irrite contre le SEIGNEUR.

 3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

4 La richesse procure beaucoup d'amis; mais le pauvre est séparé de son voisin.

 4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

5 Un faux témoin ne sera pas impuni, et celui qui dit des mensonges n'échappera pas.

 5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

6 Beaucoup supplieront la faveur du prince: et tout homme est un ami de celui qui donne des présents.

 6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7 Tous les frères du pauvre le haïssent: combien plus ses amis s’éloignent de lui? Il les poursuit avec des paroles, pourtant elles lui font défaut.

 7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

8 Celui qui obtient la sagesse aime sa propre âme: celui qui garde la compréhension trouvera le bien.

 8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 Un faux témoin ne sera pas impuni et celui qui dit des mensonges périra.

 9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

10 Le délice ne sied pas à un insensé; combien moins à un serviteur d’avoir autorité sur des princes.

 10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 La discrétion d’un homme diffère sa colère; et c’est sa gloire de négliger une transgression.

 11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 Le courroux du roi est comme le rugissement d'un lion; mais sa faveur est comme la rosée sur l'herbe.

 12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

13 Un fils insensé est la calamité de son père: et les contestations d'une femme sont une gouttière continuelle.

 13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

14 Maison et richesse sont le patrimoine des pères: et une femme prudente vient du SEIGNEUR.

 14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

15 L’oisiveté fait tomber dans un sommeil profond, et une âme oisive souffrira de la faim.

 15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 Celui qui garde le commandement garde sa propre âme: mais celui qui méprise ses agissements mourra.

 16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

17 Celui qui a pitié du pauvre prête au SEIGNEUR; et ce qu’il a donné le lui rendra-t-il.

 17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

18 Châtie ton fils pendant qu'il y a de l'espoir, et ne laisse pas ton âme céder à ses pleurs.

 18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

19 Un homme de grand courroux en souffrira la punition: car si tu le délivres, tu devras le faire à nouveau.

 19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

20 Entends le conseil, et reçois l'instruction, afin que tu puisses être sage sur ta fin.

 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 Il y a beaucoup de desseins dans le cœur d'un homme; néanmoins le conseil du SEIGNEUR, cela subsistera.

 21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

22 Le désir d’un homme est sa bonté: et un homme pauvre vaut mieux qu’un menteur.

 22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

23 La crainte du SEIGNEUR conduit à la vie: et celui qui la possède demeurera satisfait; il ne sera pas visité par le mal.

 23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

24 Un homme oisif cache sa main dans son sein, et ne la portera même pas à sa bouche de nouveau.

 24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25 Frappe un dédaigneux, et le simplet prêtera garde: et reprouve celui qui a de la compréhension, et il comprendra la connaissance.

 25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

26 Celui qui dilapide son père et chasse sa mère, est un fils qui fait honte et apporte l’outrage.

 26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

27 Cesse, mon fils, d'écouter l'instruction qui fait errer des paroles de la connaissance.

 27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

28 Un témoin impie dédaigne le jugement: et la bouche des immoraux dévore l'iniquité.

 28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

29 Les jugements sont préparés pour les dédaigneux, et les coups pour le dos des insensés.

 29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
