1 Les hommes immoraux fuient lorsque personne ne les poursuit: mais les hommes droits sont téméraires comme un lion.

 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 À cause de la transgression d'un pays nombreux sont ses princes: mais par un homme de compréhension et de connaissance, son état sera prolongé.

 2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

3 Un homme pauvre qui opprime les pauvres est comme une pluie balayante qui ne laisse aucune nourriture.

 3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

4 Ceux qui abandonnent la loi louent les immoraux: mais ceux qui gardent la loi se battent contre eux.

 4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Les hommes malveillants ne comprennent pas le jugement: mais ceux qui cherchent le SEIGNEUR comprennent toutes choses.

 5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

6 Mieux vaut le pauvre qui marche dans sa rectitude, que celui qui est pervers dans ses agissements, bien qu'il soit riche.

 6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

7 Quiconque garde la loi est un fils sage: mais celui qui est un compagnon d’hommes débauchés fait honte à son père.

 7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

8 Celui qui par intérêt et par gain malhonnête augmente son bien, il le rassemblera pour celui qui aura pitié des pauvres.

 8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

9 Celui qui détourne son oreille de l’écoute de la loi, même sa prière sera une abomination.

 9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Quiconque fait s’égarer les droits sur un chemin mauvais, tombera lui-même dans sa propre fosse; mais les intègres posséderont de bonnes choses.

 10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

11 L'homme riche est sage dans sa propre opinion; mais le pauvre qui a de la compréhension le sonde.

 11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 Lorsque les droits se réjouissent, il y a grande gloire: mais lorsque les immoraux se lèvent, un homme est caché.

 12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

13 Celui qui couvre ses péchés ne prospérera pas: mais quiconque confesse et les abandonne obtiendra miséricorde.

 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

14 Heureux est l'homme qui craint continuellement: mais celui qui endurcit son cœur tombera dans la malveillance.

 14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 Comme un lion rugissant, et un ours traquant, ainsi est un dirigeant immoral sur le peuple pauvre.

 15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

16 Le prince qui manque de compréhension est aussi un grand oppresseur: mais celui qui hait la convoitise prolongera ses jours.

 16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

17 Un homme qui fait violence au sang de toute personne fuira jusqu'à la fosse; qu’aucun homme ne le retienne.

 17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

18 Quiconque marche dans l'intégrité sera sauvé: mais celui qui est pervers dans ses agissements tombera immédiatement.

 18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

19 Celui qui cultive sa terre aura abondance de pain: mais celui qui suit les personnes vaines sera repue de pauvreté.

 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

20 Un homme fidèle abondera en bénédictions: mais celui qui se hâte de s'enrichir ne sera pas innocent.

 20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

21 Faire distinction de personnes n'est pas bon: car pour un morceau de pain cet homme transgressera.

 21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

22 Celui qui se hâte pour s’enrichir a l'œil mauvais, et n’envisage pas que la pauvreté viendra sur lui.

 22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

23 Celui qui reprend un homme trouvera par la suite plus de faveur que celui qui flatte avec sa langue.

 23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24 Quiconque vole son père ou sa mère, et dit: Ce n'est pas une transgression; celui-là même est le compagnon d’un destructeur.

 24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

25 Celui qui a le cœur fier incite à la querelle; mais celui qui met sa confiance dans le SEIGNEUR sera rendu fortuné.

 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

26 Celui qui se confie en son propre cœur est un insensé: mais quiconque marche avec sagesse, celui-là sera délivré.

 26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 Celui qui donne aux pauvres ne manquera pas: mais celui qui ferme ses yeux aura beaucoup de malédictions.

 27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28 Lorsque les immoraux se lèvent, les hommes se cachent: mais lorsqu’ils périssent, les droits s’accroissent.

 28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
