Un Psaume de David.

 A Psalm of David.

1 Plaide ma cause, ô SEIGNEUR, contre ceux qui luttent avec moi: combats ceux qui me combattent.

 1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2 Saisis écu et bouclier, et tiens-toi debout pour me secourir.

 2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3 Tire aussi la lance, et barre le chemin à ceux qui me persécutent: dis à mon âme, Je suis ton salut.

 3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

4 Qu’ils soient déconcertés et rendus honteux ceux qui en veulent à mon âme: qu’ils reculent et soient remplis de confusion ceux qui imaginent mon malheur.

 4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

5 Qu’ils soient comme la paille devant le vent: et que l’ange du SEIGNEUR les chasse.

 5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

6 Que leur chemin soit sombre et glissant: et que l’ange du SEIGNEUR les persécute.

 6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

7 Car sans cause ont-ils caché pour moi leur filet sur une fosse, laquelle ils ont creusée sans cause pour mon âme.

 7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

8 Que la destruction vienne sur lui à l’improviste; et que son filet qu’il a caché l’attrape: qu’il tombe dans cette même destruction.

 8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

9 Et mon âme sera joyeuse dans le SEIGNEUR: elle se réjouira en son salut.

 9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 Tous mes os diront, SEIGNEUR, qui est comme toi, lequel délivres le pauvre de celui qui est trop fort pour lui, oui, le pauvre et le nécessiteux de celui qui le dépouille?

 10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11 De faux témoins se levèrent; ils m’accusèrent de choses que je ne connaissais pas.

 11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12 Ils me rendirent le mal pour le bien jusqu’au dépouillement de mon âme.

 12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

13 Mais quant à moi, lorsqu’ils furent malades, mes habits furent une toile à sac: j’humiliais mon âme par le jeûne; et ma prière retournait dans mon propre sein.

 13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14 Je me comportais comme s’il avait été mon ami ou mon frère: je me courbai accablé, comme celui qui mène deuil pour sa mère.

 14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15 Mais dans mon adversité ils se réjouirent, et se rassemblèrent: oui, les abjects se rassemblèrent contre moi, et je ne le savais pas; ils me déchirèrent, et ne cessèrent pas:

 15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16 Avec les moqueurs hypocrites durant les fêtes, ils grincèrent leurs dents contre moi.

 16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Seigneur, jusques à quand observeras-tu? Secours mon âme de leurs destructions, ma chère bien-aimée des lions.

 17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18 Je te remercierai dans la grande congrégation: je te louerai parmi beaucoup de personnes.

 18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19 Ne laisse pas ceux qui sont mes ennemis se réjouir à tort à mon sujet: ne laisse pas non plus cligner de l’œil ceux qui me haïssent sans cause.

 19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20 Car ils ne parlent pas de paix: mais ils inventent des affaires trompeuses contre ceux qui sont tranquilles dans le pays.

 20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

21 Oui, ils ouvrirent grande leur bouche contre moi, et dirent, Aha, aha, notre œil l’a vu.

 21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

22 Cela tu l’as vu, ô SEIGNEUR: ne reste pas silencieux: ô SEIGNEUR, ne sois pas loin de moi.

 22 This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

23 Active-toi, et réveille-toi pour me faire jugement, c’est-à-dire envers ma cause, mon Dieu et mon Seigneur.

 23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

24 Juge-moi, ô SEIGNEUR mon Dieu, selon ta droiture; et ne les laisse pas se réjouir à mon sujet.

 24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25 Ne les laisse pas dire en leur cœur, Ah, c’est ce que nous voulions: ne les laisse pas dire, Nous l’avons avalé.

 25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

26 Qu’ils soient tous ensemble honteux et remplis de confusion ceux qui se réjouissent de mon malheur: qu’ils soient revêtus de honte et de déshonneur ceux qui se magnifient contre moi.

 26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

27 Qu’ils crient de joie et soient contents, ceux qui approuvent ma droite cause: oui, qu’ils disent continuellement, Que le SEIGNEUR soit magnifié, lequel a plaisir à la prospérité de son serviteur.

 27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28 Et ma langue parlera de ta droiture et de ta louange tout le long du jour.

 28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
